My inner Berkeley and inner Bimbo are all up in each other's grill on this one. Bimbo is a little "gee, aw shucks" just after her 48th bday. Then she remembers the pic used here -- without, Berkeley feels sure, permission of or fees to the rightsholders (one of whom is the ABA Journal -- pilfering pics from a cadre of lawyers makes this even more head-shakingly funny) is roughly 10 years old. Even Bimbo is more dignified than to enjoy being part of a cheap, culturally retrograde traffic ploy. Berkeley points out too that even if this were a list more concerned with members' actual contributions to tech progress and policy than their Playboy spreads (which sadly it is not), others not included here are far worthier of recognition than she. (Which reminds her, the piece's bad grammar is no more than she would expect.)

Expand your sociocultural horizons by catching yesterday's +TWiL, in which we celebrate, educate, and hand-wring. And in which (in light of some of the sloshy/racy subject matter) every other utterance is an unintended bad pun. Heck, the first sentence here even qualifies. As always, enjoy! Thanks again +Ali Spagnola, +Rob Pegoraro, and Evan Brown.

In Neil Gaiman's American Gods, Sam wants to convince Shadow it's ok to tell her something she's unlikely to believe. Her pitch is one of the greatest things I've read recently or perhaps ever. Reminds me a little of Tom Robbins -- which can only be good. Enjoy:
“I can believe things that are true and things that aren't true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they're true or not.
I can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and the Beatles and Marilyn Monroe and Elvis and Mister Ed. Listen - I believe that people are perfectable, that knowledge is infinite, that the world is run by secret banking cartels and is visited by aliens on a regular basis, nice ones that look like wrinkled lemurs and bad ones who mutilate cattle and want our water and our women.
I believe that the future sucks and I believe that the future rocks and I b... more »
