I shot this while scouting locations for my upcoming Amsterdam At Night workshop. This was my final exposure before the rain became too heavy. We shot for five hours and I loved every minute of it!

Post processing: Adjusted contrast, slight cross-processing, and subtle motion blur to the water.

On learning not to worry
Want a good method for learning not to worry? Try crossing Canada with a backpack and no firm timeline except "making it to Halifax by the fall".
Admittedly I wasn't the most worrysome fellow when I started this trip. I like ducks when they're in a row, but I'm also pretty used to them quacking off in all directions. And really that's more duckish anyways. Sure, taking the first step out the door took awhile to build up and happen, and there have been a number of 'OMG WTF AM I DOING?' moments behind the scenes. But they happen a little less frequently these days, and it seems that the worst ones were closer to the beginning.

I shot this panoramic on a long stretch of neglected country road winding just behind Zion National Park in Utah. This largely overlooked road through the outskirts of the park is very quiet and particularly peaceful with steep elevation gain and sweeping views. I never would have found it if I hadn't been researching nearby BLM land. Most just speed past this unmarked route, heading straight to Springdale and the hoardes of tourists that await.

I snapped this after a shoot yesterday. The public transport here is excellent; you can travel by train, subway, tram, or bus. More than half of the commuters in the city choose to cycle. It is a bit chaotic but fun to have so many options :)

I snapped this several weeks ago on a fast-paced cross-country road trip spanning from Detroit to NY, down the East Coast to Florida, and westward to Las Vegas. It was a whirlwind of beautiful sights from a midnight stroll through Washington, D.C. to a sultry stop in New Orleans (where I had the best meal of my life), to a somber moment in Dealey Plaza in Dallas. We covered more than 4,000 miles in less than three weeks. What a rush!
