So I had a little procedure done today - just the merest hint of a biopsy, a tiny little chunk punched out of my breast by a friendly nurse practitioner who couldn't pronounce "peau d'orange" correctly. I have a stitch, just one. But it feels like someone stabbed me in the chest and then forced me to wear a bra over it.

Yesterday my husband made baklava and it was amazing. There was a lot of phyllo left over, and we toyed with the idea of making spanakopita, but he doesn't really like spinach. I said "What about tiropita?" which is one of my favorite foods EVER. So I googled for the recipe and found this:

Is anybody in the SWTOR beta this weekend? I've downloaded the client, verified my account, but when I try to log in it says my account isn't verified, even though I received an email saying that it is. And when I try to go to the tester forum I get a message that I do not have access to that forum. SO FRUSTRATING.

I had a wonderful parenting moment the other day. I had just got an Amazon order, and Lachlan and I were opening it. It was paperback books, and I lifted them out and sniffed them. Lachlan grabbed them from my hands and said "You're doing it wrong!" and riffled the pages and took a big whiff. "That's how you smell a book, mama."

I'm so proud.

The tree guys are here cutting down trees. It makes my little hippie heart sad, but the madrona did drop a branch through the dining room roof last winter, so it's probably for the best.

Now, obviously they can't take down a giant madrona all at once, they have to do it in bits. Well, the bits are pretty big and they hit the ground quite hard - with a big thud that shakes the whole house! I wasn't expecting that part.

Now my front yard is covered with large cross sections of madrona. Farewell, madrona, you were a nice tree. :(
