Time To Carry On

Since my 2012 366 Project ended up short due to health issues, lack of enthusiasm, and little interaction, I have decided to take a much needed break away from particular social media outlets including Google+.

I will continue to maintain and host the weekly +Mobile Art Photography theme here every Saturday. However, my profile posts, other theme participation, and interaction in general will be very limited.

I've had fun over the past year and several months here and have been entertained by many. It's now time to wean myself away from certain distractions and focus on myself and my work.

I don't celebrate birthdays anymore however…
As I've gotten older, I've also grown harder. For instance, I have stopped celebrating my own birthday many years ago (Depression set in at the age of 29. Haven't counted the years since). But I must go on record by stating there is one thing that fries my ass about social media. It's the fact that FB and G+ have these little notifications to remind you of your "online friends" and "acquaintances" whose special days are fast approaching. I've even actually taken part in some of these elaborate virtual online parties for some people. I guess my real gripe is this: Out of all my circles and those past B-Dayers I've responded to, I rec'd not one single solitary well wisher. Now, that did surprise me considering I have a few close homies here.

This is a non-event but rather an open "Thank You" letter to all members of the +Mobile Art Photography Theme.

Beginning as a personal photography hobby has turned out to be a rather popular theme amongst the artistic mobile phone photographers of G+. With absolutely no fanfare of its existence (with the exception of an occasional mention on my profile), it has been generously mentioned and shared throughout the G+ community by the likes of +Daily Photography Themes, +G+ Photo Pages Directory  (www.gplusphotopages.com), +Alexius Jørgensen, and +Jacob Dix. And since its April 2012 inception, it has now hit a landmark of 1000+ likes strong! 

I also cannot go without mentioning the following long time contributors who have continuously submitted their creative art efforts and helped build this theme into what it is today:

Personal Website Gallery Update
It's been some time now but I finally updated the photos in my gallery section on jimmiefisher.com. I have organized the groups into four main categories: Digital Art & Illustration, iPhoneography, Traditional Art, and Abstracts. (Any personal photography work is included in the Digital Art & Illustration section since the majority or sum of its parts are used in my manipulation projects).

A Little Redecorating
Some sprucing up was in order and a new logo has been created for the +Mobile Art Photography page. Since the page photo/icon is generally seen first in searches, I thought it best to represent the type of artistic creations being displayed here within this community.

During the past several months since this page's inception, there have been some outstanding photos submitted and I sincerely hope to see plenty more. Although there are still some minor G+ issues regarding notifications, I have provided additional information in the "About" section of this page in hopes that no one's work gets overlooked. Just follow the simple guidelines.

My first illustration/painting piece created in the digital media realm. With a variation of both hand drawn and found objects, an initial composite was formed. Linework and color was then added with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop using a Wacom tablet to complete the final sequence. Inspired by the Elton John song "Amoreena." Enjoy :)

"Gone Fishing"
Today is bittersweet. Not only does it mark my first anniversary here on G+ (http://goo.gl/WdKIX), this day also brings a premature ending to a project of mine. After 250 days in, I have decided of my own volition to discontinue my 2012 Creativity Project. Personal life, business ventures, and health far supersede anything else at hand. As always, I appreciate those who have continuously followed and supported this ongoing project of mine. Much thanks and appreciation to all for your kind words, encouragement, and online friendships. I will continue to post original artwork and photo imaging projects to this account, however, somewhat limited it might be. I will also continue to host the +Mobile Art Photography theme as always.

"In My Comfort Zone"
This photo is probably the only one I have submitted to the +Selfy Sunday project without any post processing. It is basically SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera, actually iPhone cam). Only some minor color correction and cropping in Photoshop. Just me in my natural habitat surrounded by my toys, cameras, Wacom and iMac. What more does a "manbeast" actually need (except maybe some grub :)?

Second Chances

While creating this piece last night, I received a phone call from my son who is currently on vacation with his wife in the Dominican Republic. The resort where they are staying are taking precautions for Hurricane Isaac. I thought it ironic how this image then reminded me of rippled waves coming up alongside a westerly shore line. I'm praying for their safety.

What Quantifies As A 'Verified' Account, +Google+?
I just dumped a guy here on G+ because he complained his profile was not a verified account. I see very little interaction from this person other than promoting his products on his G+ profile (probably the reason why he wanted his profile verified since his G+ biz page has less than 300 followers since Jan 2012). I can see granting verification on G+ pages for businesses and brands. But I can guarantee no one knows this guy by name or possibly have ever heard of him before. But within 24 hours, you had approved and verified his profile. Really? Makes me question your practice and standards +Google+ o_O

More playtime with my much neglected Intuos4. Took another of my beastly pencil doodles and put this character through the digital process. After drawing the linework and adding color to the subject, I added multiple textured layers to give this troll a little more dimension as well as create a fibrous, fuzzy background.

Looks Like The "Bromance" Is Over.
I came across a bunch of these little "skitzo" love poems/limericks last night I used to write and dedicate to +Jake Easley. But I haven't heard from his sorry ass around here for some time now. A Stroll Through The Park
Hey +Jules Falk Hunter and +Joseph Smith. Your post reminded me of this pic of my son. I think it is is one of the most hilarious stories and pics he has shared with me. My son and daughter-in-law decided to stop at a drive thru animal park on their way home from the Carolinas one summer. As my son hit a certain stretch of roadway, this fella came up along side the car and kept a steady pace with my son's speed as if they were racing each other. I think my son's expression says it all! (BTW, this could actually be considered an "unconventional"  #windowwednesday pic but it was taken by my daughter-in-law not me :)
