The Needle
I've previously posted this image in black and white but do to a recent inquiry revisited the color version and thought it was worth a share. This is a composite image of Seattle's Space Needle as seen from +Nicole S. Young's former Seattle apartment set against a comped in sky from my front yard that I blurred in Photoshop. I used +onOne Software's Perfect Mask to pull the Space Needle from the original sky and Layers to blend the two images.

All of the Panthers Gathered
I'm so stoked about the new vertical photo enhancement here on G+ I thought I'd share another image from Panther Creek. From the creek bed you can't see all these falls together so I figured I'd take a little climb up the hillside. I was pleasantly surprised with the view and here it is.

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Be courageous my friends! Don't whine, embrace the change.

Panther's Milk
The overall view of Panther Creek Falls is awesome. And I mean that in the "full of awe" way, not the popular 80's slang that still hangs around today. When you stand on the overlook and take your first glimpse at the expanse of the falls you are taken in by its beauty and grandeur. Saturday morning I spent a lot of time trying to get an over all view of the multi-tiered falls that I was happy with and I think I got the shot which I'll share another time as it's a story to itself.
This shot was taken at the end of the morning as +David Staggs and I were standing around talking about photography. I was fighting the mist on my filter and was a bit tired so I decided to step back a ways and do a couple shots with a longer lens to capture some of the detail in the falls. When I looked at this shout I couldn't help but see milk.... more »

Lower Panther
Yesterday morning I met up with +David Staggs at Panther Creek Falls for a morning shoot. David contacted me earlier in the week asking for some tips about shooting the area. He is from Colorado and was coming to town for the weekend to do some shooting. What kind of host would I be if I didn't join him? So I did. The whole week we had cloudless skies, but this morning we were fortunate enough to have a light cloud layer that provided for some nice even light.
This shot is of the lower portion of the falls, you can see the main falls in the background in the upper left. Getting down to shoot this is not for the faint of heart as there isn't much of a trail and the ground isn't always as stable as it appears and the whole thing starts with a climb down a short cliff face. But the journey is totally worth it as the view is outstanding.
