Today is the Day!
I am so pleased because today marks the launching the "Photographers for Good" website. What is it? Well, let me tell you a little about it. and why it came into being. It is the brainchild of the dynamic duo +Barry Blanchard and +Monique Yates It is targeted to help our dear friend +Lee Daniels.
Now many of you know Lee from her curation of +CATURDAY! and +Women Wednesday or from the many…many lovely comments she sprinkles on others work all across G+. But for those of you who don't, she is a teacher of our children, writer, and passionate photographer that not only "chases magic" but often captures it in stunning art for the rest of us to look at in awe.

Went out to a random pond here on the prairies. The ducks were quacking and the frogs were croaking. The smell in the air was oh so sweet. There was just enough breeze to keep any bugs away. The sun was just going down. It was so peaceful. I was so happy to be in that spot at that time. <happiness>

Went for a walk at the local walking trail and I came upon our new neighbours. A mother and her owlet. So wonderful to see them.
While we were looking at the owls a funny thing happened. We saw a squirrel jumping from tree to tree having a great old time. He jumped to the owl's tree and scrambled into the nest. I guess he took one look and realized he made a wrong turn. You never did see a squirrel skedaddle so fast out of there! Meanwhile mother owl must not have been to hungry as she looked around her nest at the squirrel come and go but didn't move too much to grab him.

Wow what a lot of hullabaloo about +Trey Ratcliff post regarding his feelings of the way cameras are going. I for one am totally shocked by the rudeness and nastiness of the comments of the naysayers. I am just starting out and so I will be investing more in my DSLR but at the same time I will be keeping my eye out for any new technology including 3rd generation cameras. I look at +Trey Ratcliff track record and I would have to say I trust that he has the knowledge to be able to make the statement he did. He is part of the group that I consider leading edge photographers and with that they have access to information I may not have.
I work in an elementary school and I get children coming to me saying how wrong I am in how to teach a certain subject or even if it is to go back and look in their desk for a lost item which I say is in there. These children will swear up and down how wrong I am and... more »

Download A Yosemite Bracketed Series
Hey guys... as a tip of the hat to the +Trey Ratcliff +Robert Scoble clan coming back from #Yosemite - was going through the shots I got from the last time I was there (early 2011) and found a cool bracketed series for people to play with.
The link below is almost 100MB. It has a 9 frame bracket of raw files (DNG), plus a export preset for #Photomatix. I figure, if anyone wants to play around with some #HDR i#Photography n a very famous spot, you can have at it.

Wow wowee wow wow +Trey Ratcliff this is such a powerful talk. Amazing how you hit the nail on the head. Take and process pictures to please ourselves and not others. I can't believe the rude people I have encountered who have given their opinion even though no one asked them for it. Thank you for giving me renewed confidence! :D

These are the Crooked Trees. The sign says The Crooked Bush. It seems odd to call it bush when they are clearly trees. Within a small area all the trees grow like this, crooked. The trees across the way and also across the road are growing all straight. The agriculture people at the University have tested the soil and the soil is the exact same as the straight trees soil. They have taken saplings and grown them elsewhere and they grow straight but the new trees that grow in this area all come up crooked. This is a phenomena that no one can explain. Some say the grove is haunted. But whatever the explanation the trip is worth it to see these strange Poplar trees, They have given me so many memories from anywhere to getting lost finding them to ending up in the ditch and getting stuck in gumbo mud and rescuing an injured owl all around trying to find the grove in the first place.
