Sorry! :)At nearly 1000, my art circle is bursting at the seams. It's too big to share on it's own anymore, so I thought I'd break it down into several smaller circles, to share over a period of days.These people fill my streams with visual imagery, sometimes beautiful, experimental, evocative... each one has a unique perspective and practice. Most of these people are painters, drawers, illustrators, sculptors, etc. (I generally keep my photogs in a separate circle, with a few exceptions, for good measure. So yes, this circle is a different beast.)The desire to connect with other artists is what brought me to G+, and it is a huge part of why I am still here.**************************************************************************A note about this circle, and my sharing it.Every time I share a circle, I get a backlash of anger from people that are not in it. Honestly, it is to the point that I rarely share circles.Please know that this circle is not all of the artists that you should be following here on Google+, it is simply the artists that I follow. I have chosen them for personal reasons, and enjoy following each of them. I am sharing them because I believe that you may also enjoy following them.This circle reflects my choices, of whom to follow, please be respectful of that. If you are an artist, and not in my circles, please feel free to say hi and let me know in the comments, so that I can mosey on over to your profile and see your work! #art #creativity #sharedcircles  2012-08-20 15:36:157925116

Philip Hartigan1,197Here is my first shared Circle. It's my "Art People" Circle, consisting of artists, gallerists, museum people. I built it up over the four months since I was invited in as part of the G+ beta test phase. It's the result not of random adding, but of looking at every person's Profile to see if there's a shared interest, then adding them to this Circle. I hope you also find some people with common interests in it.2011-11-04 22:42:12500181915

Jus Vun8,365ANALOG / FILM PHOTOGRAPHERS ON G+Ok, since everyone's sharing circles I thought I'd do my part to promote the fim photographers of G+. This circle was originally curated by +Chris Zissiadis but I added a couple others on there. Even if you don't shoot film, I strongly suggest you create a film circle so you can enjoy the beauty of film photography These photographers will be inspiration to you and perhaps you might convert from digital to film one day. I started shooting film at a young age, picked up a DSLR in my late 20s and went back to using film a couple of years later, I've been hooked since then.How and why did you get into film? Sorry, please let me know if you haven't been included! Ontoshiki Vun shared a circle with you.www.ontoshiki.comOntoshiki , Photographer based in Tokyo, Japan2011-09-29 03:18:3013829615

Actual colors may vary's
"Best of 2011 music"
Post-Dubstep | Skweee | Wonky | Electronic Pop

Even though we’re aware most people are following “Actual colors may vary” because of our photography features, we would like to share some of our favorite music in 2011 (although some tracks are from late 2010 and early 2012).

We would like to introduce you to a wide spectrum of electronic music that could be filed mostly under “Dubstep” even though this categorisation would be too general and ignore the fact that this postmodern genre mixes so many influences apart from Dub und 2-Step that it would better be called “Post-Dubstep” and even that would be misleading. Listen to young producers from Norway, Finland, USA, Belgium, Russia, Japan, Romania, UK, Brasil, Lithuania and Germany experimenting with new sound aesthetics that could beblueprints fo... more »

My trip to Addis Ababa was motivated by a simple desire to go some place about which I had very little knowledge and start the process of discovery from virtually zero. Mahesh Shantaram is a photographer based in Bangalore and works in the genre of subjective documentary photography, which basically means that instead of being weighed down by the responsibility of ‘telling the truth’, which is virtually impossible in his opinion, he just records his personal experience of an event or situation. He celebrates the everyday, the mundane, the leftovers when all the exotic has been consumed or left to dry. You could call him a soldier in the war against cheesy, predictable, and aww-so-cute imagery. After wasting away in a cubicle in Washington DC, he decided to go to Paris to study photography. When he returned to India in 2006, it was immediately apparent to him that Indian wedding photography as we know it needed some ventilation and that’s how he became one of India’s best-known wedding photographers.

My hit for early 2012:
Melkeveien - Optophobia (Feat. Baba Stiltz)
It actually could be filed under "Skweee" music but is very untypical for this kind of music. It's a little cheesy and but gives me goosebumbs, I can't help it.

Fantastic work by Abelardo Morell. He transforms hotel rooms into huge pinhole cameras by covering the windows completely and letting only a tiny pinhole open. What you see on the picture is the "projection" the pinhole creates that casts the image of the outside onto the inside.

Any reference, be it to the system itself or to its environment, is a visual construct. (Niklas Luhmann)

The photographic medium does not simply offer access to a view of the world by way of photography’s presumed function, which is to realistically render images of its motifs seemingly available as objective data. Instead, photography first inserts the camera between the captured object and the observer. Although obvious analogies suggest a comparison between the act of photography and human vision, technological photo production methods generate their objects through chemical processes of exposure and development.

The exhibition “Breaking Surfaces” brings together three different international artistic positions working with photography in a way that departs from its strictly mimetic function so as to provoke the emergence of new conditions for production and reception by strategically intervening in the medium’s parameters. With this in mind, the artists transgress the limits confining the image-bearing material of the medium, making it extend into the exhibition space, or they actively intervene by manipulating the image-bearing media, the photographic motif or also its relation to the real object photographed. Additions to, as well as violations of, the conditions that are normal for the medium equally contribute to a situation in which the habitually homogeneous and flawless surface of the photograph rejects, transfigures or even fully negates its conventional relationship to the real object. These targeted interventions into the image-object relationship of the photographs – in Luhmann’s sense of dissolving, distorting and re-combining existing elements of the medium – lead to the endgame of photography’s supposedly authentic and objective potential, which is now ultimately at stake. {…}
