Daria Musk3,580,993Expand to read the story and learn how to join live!Three years ago to the day, I stood in front of my computer - a guitar in my hands, songs in my heart, fingers trembling - about to press a button that said, "Hangout". I was still waterlogged with rainy nights of lugging my amps into tiny clubs and tears from the not-knowing-what-would-happen to my dreams. That night, when I hit "Hangout" you saved my dreams, you saved me. Your faces popped in. We sang all night. Six hours later my heart was six million times bigger and I would never be the same. Every year I want to celebrate that day. I want to thank you face to face. I want to meet back at our special place and sing your praises. It's time for Hangoutiversary III. PLEASE, BE CELEBRATEDSo please, meet me on July 16th. Right here, inside the place where we had our virtual first date. Comment back and let me know that you're planning to come, I will organize special circles of you all, so we can rotate the 10 seats and meet and meet and meet again.I'll sing our songs of celebration. I'll sing new songs of adoration, to you and this crazy world that gives us a chance just when we think maybe it can't. Come with your hopes and your dreams to be amplified and your updates and your friends and families and fantasies. Let's sing 'til our throats go weak and dance in front of computer screens, like the silly beautiful people we know ourselves to be.  HOW TO HANGIn case you're new or rusty all you have to do to join this Hangout is: ✪ RSVP a big fat yes here.✪ On Wednesday, July 16th come back to this page when the Hangout starts (6PM Eastern US Time).✪ You can watch or click "join" to on my page +Daria Musk!✪ Don't for get to comment and let me know if you want to join and around what time. I'll be sure to circle you and invite you when you're web-camera-ready!✪ Come with song requests, stories and even a "dream to amplify". The theme of this hangout is #amplifyyourdreams  cause that's what you guys did for me. You turnt it up to 11!SRSLY, MESSAGE MESend me a private message or chat or comment to me here if you'd like to arrange a special invite or if you're new and want to join the family and need some tips for getting in. I think I'm going to make invite circles for each half hour, so let me know when you want to join. Everyone's invited. It's really the greatest possible gift, just to let me sing for you and get to know you again and again and again. SPREAD THE LOVEShare thisHANGOUTIVERSARY CONCERT2014-07-17 00:00:003

Bearman Cartoons75,698Bearman Engagement Circle - October 2014Again thanks to +CircleCount  for giving me beta access to their future premium offerings, I was able to once again pull an engagment circle This allows me to see who has plussed, commented, or shared my last 100 posts. This circle represents the non duplicated list of the top 25 +1ers, top 25 commenters, and top 25 resharers of my last 100 posts.  But that doesn't give us the Bearman Engagement Score. That is determined by the following:1 point per Plus2 points per comment3 points per shareAdd all the points together and my top 15 in order for this month are:1. +Peter Marinacci 2. +Mark Norris 3. +LM Stewart 4. +李麟 5. +Steve Broome 6. +christina Fisher 7. +steph wanamaker 8. +Erik Swiger 9. +Justin Powell 10. +Dan Soto 11. +randy mccumber 12. +Jean Egan 13. +Lawrence Hults II 14. +Steven Pangkey 15. +Jim Huntsman Thanks to all that indulge me 2014-10-20 16:25:44584114
Tessa Schlesinger21,767This is my inner core circle  - the people from whom I share frequently. Sometimes, if someone hasn't been posting for a while, I will put them into another circle. I divide my circles into:1. Inner core ; people whose posts I share more often than others.2. Engagers: people with whom I engage and visa versa.3. My science circle. Geeky info that I like to read.4. My temporary circle; when I try out new people.2014-08-30 16:22:3688534
Laura B Williams864I just posted this circle to My Circles when I meant to post it publicly...ooops.This is a circle full of some of the most talented writers on Google+. I am sharing this with you because I like to share awesomeness. If you  are a writer and I do not have you in this circle please let me know in the comments and I will add you! 2014-07-12 13:09:58344302
Ole Olson46,666This is my original circle of progressives on G+. Add it for some hard hitting, unapologetic political information geared toward activating forward progress in America. 2014-06-28 03:56:553636518
Tessa Schlesinger20,569This is the circle of people I follow. I am not in it (so I'm not promoting myself). I follow them because they are interesting, sincere, have good stuff. Some of them have been here with me from day one.  They don't always interact every day, but I think it really depends on what you're looking for on G+. If you want people to interact with you, well, nobody can interact with everybody who adds them. There just isn't enough time to do that. On the other hand, if you'd like to read someone because they present informative, interesting, entertaining stuff, then this circle is interesting. I think it would appeal to atheists, agnostics, people who love beauty, travel, occasional humor, who are visual, intellectual, thinkers, humanist, and/or liberal. :)2014-05-08 15:31:52186503

Alister Macintyre42,106Do not confuse this circle with the one I have on Native American Indian interests.  My India Circle has people whose lives have either passed thru the great nation of India, are there now, or interested in India.  My interests range world wide, some nations more than others.  I recently started an Asia circle, and tried to pour into it my circles for Australia, China, Japan, India, some other countries, but bumped into another of G+ silly ceilings.  I have circles for several major regions of the world, including Middle East, Eu-W, and Eu-other.  I also have circles for specific nations like Germany and Haiti.2014-03-27 18:26:53148002

Tessa Schlesinger12,664These are the people I follow. If you would like to follow these people, feel free. There is no guarantee that they will add you if you do. You will be following them because you would like to hear what they have to say. There is no need to plus it, add a comment, and then share it in order for you to be added to some new circle which will be shared. This is the way we shared circles for the first two years. So feel free to add, or not. And I'm not in it so it isn't promoting myself. It's a gift to you, if you would like it. And, I suppose it's a gift to those who are in the circle that I freely give with no expectation of return.2013-11-03 12:52:17133335

Gary McLaren1,175New Engagers Circle on Google+Over the past few weeks as I have become more active here on G+ I have been extremely grateful for all the comments, +1s and shares from the people I've met here. After all, the "magic" of G+ is in the engagement - conversing and interacting with people on topics of mutual interest.Today I want to share with you a circle of wonderful people that have been engaging with me. Many of these people, like me, are writers and authors. They're a great bunch and I guess many of them are the type of people you might be looking to connect with too. So check them out. Go say "Hi". Add them to your circles if you like. Or share the circle with others. I'm not in this circle... this is all about them not me. So please consider sharing it with others to create even more connections. Hat tip to +martin shervington for the inspiration to do this. Cheers, Gary.  P.S. I'm sorry if I somehow missed you off this circle... if I did it was accidental! But if this idea goes over well, I'll be doing it again. 2013-02-19 23:38:59153666

Brain - Use it or lose it

True, brain needs exercises too, reading is one. Otherwise, Google+ is a good place to start :-)

"Simple lifestyle changes could save more than 80,000 people a year from dementia, a major global report has said.

The research suggests action should be taken much earlier in life to combat diseases such as Alzheimer’s, amid evidence that deterioration of the brain starts in the 40s.

The findings of the report will be presented to the World Innovation Summit for Health in Doha in February, the Daily Telegraph has reported."

More fairytales found in Germany which were hidden for more than 150 years

The book is already available in German version (http://goo.gl/rHo2l) and it's English version (http://goo.gl/OuBSSn) will be available next February, 2015. According to the article, Grimm brothers may've found these tales also but didn't want to deviate from the children's theme of stories.

"Once upon a time … the fairytales you thought you knew had endings you wouldn’t recognise. A new collection of German folk stories has Hansel and Gretel getting married after an erotic encounter with a dwarf, an enchanted frog being kissed not by a damsel in distress but by a young man, and Cinderella using her golden slippers to recover her lover from beyond the moon.

The stash of stories compiled by the 19th-century folklorist Franz Xaver von Schönwerth – recently rediscovered in an archive in Regensburg and now to be published in English for the first time this spring – challenges preconceptions about many of the most commonly known fairytales.

Harvard academic Maria Tatar argues that they reveal the extent to which the most influential collectors of fairytales, the Brothers Grimm, often purged their stories of surreal and risque elements to make them more palatable for children."

“Spirituality is the open-secret...A lot of people know that if we quieten down we can tap into a deeper power. And the movies that tap into that, like Star Wars and Interstellar, are hugely popular. Audiences know what the film is telling them, they have a sense that this story is working on a deeper level. It’s telling them that there’s more to life than just the ordinary. That there’s something much bigger, and they’re a part of it.”

Woman got yelled at for giving homeless person a coat and she responds back superbly

“I remember taking a coat back to the shelter that I designed the coat in, and this woman literally is screaming at me. She goes up to me and says, ‘We don’t need coats. Coats are pointless. We need jobs.

And really, she was completely right, because a coat is just a band-aid for a systemic issue. And what really would have an impact is hiring the population that would need them in the first place.”

- Veronika Scott.

Sometimes criticisms are good, Veronica Scott now makes coats by giving jobs to homeless and makes a better winter coat.

It will be fun if this really happens.

Compared to Mars, colonizing Venus has a number of distinct advantages. First of all Venus has a proper magnetic field and thick atmosphere which would shield astronauts from radiation. Second Venus receives about 40% more solar radiation than the Earth, making solar panels significantly more effective. The same panel on Venus would receive 240x more solar radiation than on Mars.

While the Venusian surface is very inhospitable due to the high temperature and pressure, an airship could float in its atmosphere, safely out of the way of the worst Venus could throw at us while still benefiting from its atmosphere.___It will be fun if this really happens.

4 Fill a shallow frying pan with oil to a depth of 5mm. Heat the oil until hot, but not smoking. If you are nervous about this, drop a sugar cube-sized lump of bread in – when it turns golden brown you are ready to go. Spoon the latke mix into the pan using a dessert spoon and press each spoonful down. Cook for a few minutes on each side until brown and crisp.

5 Remove the cooked latkes from the oil with a slotted spoon and transfer on to a rack, so they stay crisp until all of them are cooked.

Serving suggestions
They are traditionally served with apple sauce and sour cream, but they are also good used as a base for smoked salmon with sour cream and chives. Toasted caraway seeds in the latke mix would work well with this topping.

Oldest stone tool ever found in Turkey discovered

Out of Africa, then Out of Asia to Europe.

"Scientists have discovered the oldest recorded stone tool ever to be found in Turkey, revealing that humans passed through the gateway from Asia to Europe much earlier than previously thought, approximately 1.2 million years ago. The chance find of a humanly-worked quartzite flake, in ancient deposits of the river Gediz, in western Turkey, provides a major new insight into when and how early humans dispersed out of Africa and Asia."

After 96 loan rejections, Sam Hodges built a $750 marketplace for business loans

This is why I hate the banks in the US, they don't help the small businesses at all only the rich and corporations. I use Kiva Zip which helps small businesses in the US. If you're not in it please do so.

"Sam Hodges, co-founder and US managing director of Funding Circle, used to run a chain of successful fitness gyms in 2007. That's when he realized the US banking system was broken for small business owners.

Although his business was profitable and he had a healthy credit score, Hodges just couldn’t get the loan he needed to expand his business. Banks repeatedly declined his loan applications and other online finance companies offered terms that “simply didn’t make sense.”

Talk about a golden of example of finding the silver lining in failure.___After 96 loan rejections, Sam Hodges built a $750 marketplace for business loans

Instead of giving it to a philanthropic organization, he'd rather hand over his cash to Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and Solar City.

He thinks Musk's vision for going to Mars as "to back up humanity" is inspired. He said, "That's a company, and that's philanthropical."

One of the few modern songs that is comparable to the classic Christmas hits.

"Simple lifestyle changes could save more than 80,000 people a year from dementia, a major global report has said.

The research suggests action should be taken much earlier in life to combat diseases such as Alzheimer’s, amid evidence that deterioration of the brain starts in the 40s.

The 100-year-old Electric Car

Talk-show host Jay Leno owns three electric cars more than 100-years-old.

"I'm not too bullish on electric cars as the way of the future. Modern electric cars go roughly 100 miles on a charge, about the same as my Baker; so I don't see much progress there. I think electricity is a great power source for a car. But the problem is, how do you get it?

Thomas Edison invented the alkaline battery. My Baker still has some original alkaline batteries. These have lead plates and use acid; we wash them out and refill them regularly and I'll use them indefinitely. "

I'd a lovely squirrel-proof bird feeder shown in the link below for about two years, it has worked well so far except squirrels find a way, they tear the wire holding the bird feeders from the tree branch. I'm going to try an unbreakable yarn to hold the feeder next time, let's see how that works :-)

"Around 150 workers were paid to be fans at the Qatar Open of international beach volleyball last month – an event that the FIVB, volleyball’s governing body, said on its website had “brought out the crowds”.

But migrants from Ghana, Kenya, Nepal and elsewhere, who work in Qatar as bus and taxi drivers for the state-owned transport company and for other employers, said they were there for the money, not the volleyball."

Samsara Documentary Movie

It is absolutely a must-see one. The movie is amazing despite no voice-overs or dialogues. It offers lots of history and geography lessons and shows a snapshot of the world now, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly parts of it.  The photography and the background music that goes with it is just about out-of-the world. Best watched in a big screen.

It's available in Netflix.

"Expanding on the themes they developed in Baraka (1992) and Chronos (1985), Samsara explores the wonders of our world from the mundane to the miraculous, looking into the unfathomable reaches of humanity's spirituality and the human experience. Neither a traditional documentary nor a travelogue, Samsara takes the form of a nonverbal, guided meditation."

Review of Dungeon Quest

I started playing Dungeon Quest about three weeks ago and it's really taken over a large chunk of my gaming time. It's an arpg, very similar to the Diablo and Torchlight series'. It feels more like Diablo but looks a bit more like Torchlight. The graphics are great and it's very arcadish. Huge explosions, tons of colored damage counters, etc.

Underneath that you got some pretty solid dungeon crawling mechanics. Random and plentiful loot drops, legendary gear, and gear customization. Procedurally generated levels based on four different dungeon archetypes. Scalable difficulty levels, from easy to ridiculously hard. Three character classes, wizard, warrior, and rogue. Inside the three classes, you can further customize your character with tons of skill sets. And of course, pets. There are three, dog, imp, and fairy. Each one has a special ability to help you out.

The game is free to play and utilizes iap for funding. What's nice though is it's not a pay to win type setup. Almost all purchases simply add either convenience, or more personalization of your character. Hands down, this is by far, the best arpg that I've found on the Android platform, however it is also available for ios. If you're a fan of the genre, you should really give this game a shot. ___Review of Dungeon Quest

Kerr: Warriors won't go 72-10 because they've no Michael Jordan

Warriors maybe can get close but can't reach 72-10 because they don't have an MJ, a Scottie Pippen and most importantly a Phil Jackson.

"Kerr explained why the Bulls' record will never be matched, chalking it up to Michael Jordan's personality.

"What I remember that year is there were about 10 games where Michael just decided, 'We're going to win. And every other team on Earth would have lost those 10 games. And Michael Jordan was, there'll never be another one. Nobody has ever come close, and I don't think anybody ever will. He wanted to break that Lakers record of 69 wins so he decided we would do it, so we did it. There's only one Michael."

Why Germany has it so much better than the US

Germans have six weeks of federally mandated vacation, free college tuition and nursing care as well.

"Even as we in the United States fall more deeply into the clutches of our foreign creditors — China foremost among them — Germany has somehow managed to create a high-wage, unionized economy without shipping all its jobs abroad or creating a massive trade deficit, or any trade deficit at all. And even as the Germans outsell the United States, they manage to take six weeks of vacation every year. They’re beating us with one hand tied behind their back.”
