Friday lunch consisted of:

The Great Corn Hole Rumble in the Yard!

Engineers vs. IT was full of experienced Corn Hole players and ended quickly. Engineers won.

Then came Developers vs. Client Services. As it was my first ever Corn Hole game I'm pleased to have scored 6 points. Client Services took an early, commanding lead however the Developers caught up and it was a nail biting 20-20 for a very long while.

After 35 rounds the Developers snuck in and took the last point.

There were cookies to be had by all afterwards.

Side note: As I have terrible throw/aim even bystanders were forced into participation. Mainly to duck my random bean bag throws.

Today is the first International Day to End Obstetric Fistula.

I must admit, I've never heard of this before. I'm one of the lucky American women who's received modern pre- and post-natal medical care.

Read through the article, it's immensely sad that more than 2 million women deal with this repairable medical condition that leaves them childless, divorced and ostracized.

Each time one of these nasty buggers starts chirping at you - you spend the next half hour silently (or not so silently) swearing at yourself as you try to track down which of the buggers it is making the noise.

And you wish that last time you'd replaced all the batteries at once and then set a calendar reminder to proactively change them in six months.

Yeah.

Still not changing the rest of them. I'll wait until they chirp at me and then go through this process all over again. Yessiree.

I've never head this one before but find it quite fitting:

The opposite of jump the shark, i.e. when a TV show goes from unspectacular/boring/outlandish to completely awesome. It references Star Trek: The Next Generation, which was unspectacular until season 2, when Commander Riker grew a beard. The show kicked ass from then on.

"Man, Dollhouse really pulled a Riker's Beard last week with that awesome episode."

You may not be aware that Stephanie is prone to foot injuries, but we'd really appreciate it if you'd fix the door to floor clearance of your milk cooler.

Either bring it up 6" to match the other coolers in your store or add one of those flappy-dos to the bottom so it smoothly transitions to the floor.

My students are so quick to make race and body size matter in a debate. When I tell them they're being racist, they are surprised. This is one more example of people continuing to make race matter when it doesn't need to anymore.
