If you've heard my cell-phone rant* you know it usually ends with 'until +Google announces that they've blanketed the world with internet access and then the point is moot'. Well, +Google[x] has announced project #Loon , which is trying to "give the internet to the entire world."
Are you paying attention cell network providers? You may have a new competitor very soon.
* Generally, it goes like this: Europe had to deal with densely populated competitors, and therefore has ended up with a better, lower-priced system of networks than the US has been able to achieve. Hopefully one-day the US will be able to catch up.
