OK, these new things that Google+ does are pretty cool. I shot this on Google Glass in the Subway (I made several images of my son, Patrick) and it automatically joined them together into this animated GIF.
It was unexpected and made me smile. Thanks Google!

Warum sind Künstler Optimisten?
Der Grund ist einfach: Künstler haben die Chance, die Dinge zum Besseren zu verändern.
Andere Menschen treffen die Wahl das Opfer zu sein. Bis sie die Entscheidung treffen Künstler zu werden. Künstler verstehen, dass sie Macht haben -durch Begabungen, Innovation und die Liebe etwas neues zu gestalten. Etwas, was besser ist als das alte. Optimismus ist eine der besten menschlichen Züge, den es erlaubt Ideen entstehen zu lassen um eine Situation zu verbessern oder für ein besseres Morgen zu hoffen. Und alle Künstler haben diesen Optimismus.
Das ist es auch was Organisationen zerbrechen lässt: sie merken, dass ihr gegenwärtiges System nicht funktioniert. Aber sie sind unfähig sich ein neues System vorzustellen.

Google Glass is not yet available for purchase; instead, Google has begun selling an Explorer Edition for $1,500 to early adopters and software developers. At this week's Google conference the company is holding sessions teaching software makers how to make Glass applications, instructing developers about the software tools and suggesting the apps that aren't too distracting.

What makes someone an artist?
I don't think it has anything to do with a paintbrush. There are painters who follow the numbers, or paint billboards, or work in a small village in China, painting reproductions. These folks, while swell people, aren't artists. On the other hand, Charlie Chaplin was an artist, beyond a doubt. So is Jonathan Ive, who designed the iPod. You can be an artist who works with oil paints or marble, sure. But there are artists who work with numbers, business models, and customer conversations. Art is about intent and communication, not substances. An artist is someone who uses bravery, insight, creativity, and boldness to challenge the status quo. And an artist takes it personally.
