Tim Cook tells Congress, Apple won't move $100 million back to US

In other words, the bridges, roads will build themselves, education, innovation for his Apple technology will just fall from the sky.

"In the end, Cook wouldn't agree to move more of Apple's cash to the US while it has a 35 percent corporate tax rate. "I am not proposing a zero rate," said Cook. "My proposal is that we have a reasonable tax for bringing back money from overseas." He called for a "dramatic simplification" of the US tax code.

Apple struck a deal with Ireland in the 1980s that made sure its corporate tax rate there would never be above 2 percent. The US corporate tax rate is ostensibly the world's highest at 35 percent, but after deductions the effective corporate tax is around 12 percent, the lowest it has been in decades.

This is similar to what CloudMagic (https://cloudmagic.com/) has been doing for years, besides CloudMagic is a better tool searches multiple Gmail accounts, multiple Google App accounts, Twitter, Facebook accounts and more as well. I'm not sure whether Google will have those features for a while.

Nice story how Steven Wilhite created the .gif format. Steven Wilhite has more authority on this than Oxford Dictionary staff.

Regular networks are becoming a joke and comedy channels like the Daily Show, The Colbert Report are making more sense. 

"I guess, you gotta thank the Lord, right?” he told the survivor of a deadly tornado that ripped through Oklahoma. “Do you thank the Lord?”

“I — I’m actually an atheist,” the woman politely responded.

“Oh, you are? Alright,” Blitzer replied.

The woman, however, handled the embarrassing situation with grace.

“We are here, and I don’t blame anybody for thanking the Lord,” she told Blitzer.

Russia: Lizards survive space ordeal better than mice, fish

All the 15 lizards survived this experiment, while half the mice died.

"If animals were to compete in a space-based reality survival show, lizards might emerge victorious. At least, that’s the indication of a Russian experiment concluded yesterday when a space capsule containing live mice, lizards, crayfish and fish was recovered around 750 miles south of Moscow, the Associated Press reports.

The capsule spent a month traveling 375 miles above the planet’s surface. That’s higher than the International Space Station’s orbit. The Russian scientists say that this experiment represents that longest period animals have ever spent alone in space and been recovered alive. In 2007, AP writes, the last research capsule to carry live animals into space spent only 12 days in orbit."

Real Madrid lets Mourinho resign

Spanish league can give a huge sigh of relief.

"Real Madrid have announced that head coach Jose Mourinho will leave the club at the end of the season after three years in charge of the Spanish giants.

President Florentino Perez revealed the decision at a packed news conference.

Mourinho, 50, who has been linked with a return to Chelsea, won the league and Copa del Rey at Madrid.

First Saudi woman climbs to top of Everest

How do you block the calls from Google+

 I'm getting a lot of calls this morning. Is there a setting? It seems most businesses use call centers to make the calls. I'm sure it's coming via Google Hangouts.

Update

I changed the options in "Accounts" --> "Who can Hangout with you" --> "Customize" and  Select the circles and change the option to "Send a request" 

Otherwise it seems any one can reach you. The guys were trying to sell Payday loan, auto insurance etc., even though I have this number in Donotcall.gov.

"According to Price, Judge John Roach, a Republican who presides over a state trial court in McKinney, Texas, placed a so-called “morality clause” in Compton’s divorce papers. This clause forbids Compton having a person that she is not related to “by blood or marriage” at her home past 9pm when her children are present. Since Texas will not allow Compton to marry her partner, this means that she effectively cannot live with her partner so long as she retains custody over her children. 84 percent of New York city fast food workers claim wage theft

The companies must be doing the same thing nationwide. 

"The report found commonplace incidents such as not being paid overtime, being asked to perform tasks without being paid, not being reimbursed properly for expenses such as uniforms and being forced to pay for meals they have not eaten. Some 30% of employees reported getting their pay checks late or even having them bounce.

"There is a widespread crime wave in the fast food industry. The epidemic is preying on the city's most vulnerable residents – the men and women who make $7.25 an hour and are the least able to afford it," said Jonathan Westin, campaign director of Fast Food Forward, the group that is helping organise the protest movement."

It was puzzling, but Mourinho is an egomaniac if one can't please him they will be in the sidelines.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have lots of work cut out for them next season, they were underwhelming the past two Champions league seasons.

Pat Robertson: Husband won't cheat if the wife makes the home "wonderful"

I just went out for a few hours and the whole thing changed in Google+. Now like +Rashmi Pahuja we need to relearn all over again. With time we will get used to this new design like +joanne greenwood says. 

One thing I really like is the new Photos section, the photos look vivid and more beautiful. 

To get a single column, go to "More"  and scroll down to "Stream Layout" and choose either single (the one we had before) or multiple (two column).

Must-see TV/Movies 2013

This is only a partial list but is expanding, if you haven't watched, watch them, they're much better than what we see in regular TV. You will be a much better person after watching some of it in the list.

Please see that there are quality shows worldwide not just in your corner. Have an open mind, you will enjoy these shows.
