I haven't taken a photo in months. Probably my longest stretch without doing so. Sometimes life gets in the way, but I thought I would upload something to prove I'm not actually dead. Yet..
Oh and hi! :)

I'm looking for a few more moderators for this community as I don't have the time to do it all myself. Comment here if you would like the job.
It just involves deleting spam and approving posts.
Cheers!

To all the people living in catastrophic fire danger areas (myself included) please take care today and be ready to evacuate if you need to. This is going to be a nasty day.

Is there anyone familiar with photo licensing contracts that could possibly lend me a hand in deciphering it into plain english and advise whether I should steer clear?

Please HELP!
My dear friend +Jaime Ibarra has been hurting in a big way ... together we can put him back together! Sadly this selfy was taken on Christmas morning :(
Jaime needs an operation for an umbilical hernia El PRONTO! Like most creative artists he does not have health insurance & is to damn proud to ask for assistance. So, I made a promise to him last year that I'd see to it we all chip in and get him sorted out. I know many of you are familiar with his work & want him to continue to fill the stream with amazing photos of lovely people including Mizz Tiny aka +Jessa Peters.
I placed one condition on Mr. Ibarra (yeah - I'm no pushover) I told him find the Dr. and cost out the procedure so that universe knew he was ready to plonk down & get his butt into hospital. He has done his homework: we need to raise $5000. At this point we've decide... more »

Hmm..is there a way to share the same post to your communities and circles at the same time? Not sure I like having my community posts showing up on my personal page.
To people looking at my page it just looks like I'm spamming the same photo over and over.

The other day I headed up the mountain to take some shots from the lookout. Upon arriving there was a thick fog in the air and visibility was really poor, so I slipped on my 85mm and focused on the kids playing in the mist. It was quite windy and the fog was blowing all over the place. It was quiet, dark and cold. Perfect atmosphere. The girls stayed for a little while but eventually got a little scared and retreated to the car.
My son on the other hand was super excited and was mesmerized at how the fog seemed to be swallowing him up, he loved it! I had to convince him that we had to leave after awhile as he would have stayed there all night.
This is the shot I got.

My daughter in one of the rare moments she's sitting still. At this age their attention span is very short, so you have to get the shot quick. She's very easy to point the camera at though.

I went to Nowra zoo today and snapped a pic of this little Frilled Neck Lizard. Kinda tough through the glass but I think it turned out ok. Anyone been to Nowra zoo?

My last upload ever!
Well that is if the world ends tomorrow..
To be honest, I'm feeling very discouraged at the moment. I feel like I'm just doing the same thing over and over, slow shutter speeds of water over rocks. Now I realise I go through these phases alot, as do most photographers that have a certain style of photography they like to shoot the most.
Is the photography world over saturated with seascapes? I find it difficult to be unique in this area of photography. Is my creativity limited with my style of photography or am I just not trying hard enough?
I still find satisfaction doing what I do and I am mostly happy with my work, but I cant say that I will be in a years time.I'm a perfectionist so striving to be original and creative is just who I am, but it does my head in. Am I just trying too hard, not hard enough or should I not care about how others see my... more »

Keep in mind this is a seascape community and therefore please only share images focusing on the ocean, anything that doesn't depict the ocean or a coastline will be removed. This includes invites to other communities and images of lakes and waterfalls. Thanks.

Rain, rain, rain. Miserable weather here over the last week. Even when its grey and wet outside and there are threatening storm clouds about it's best to jump in the car and head out anyway even though your body tells you to curl up with a good book and coffee instead. You just might catch that break in the weather that makes it all worth it.

I had a wet afternoon yesterday, the 2 hours I was out I probably got about 5 mins shooting time total. It was crazy windy and mostly raining. I spent most of the time sitting in the long grass waiting for a break in the sky. I got it eventually and I did see a whale, so it was not a total waste.

Just a quick questions unrelated to photography. Can any mechanics offer advice? Should I clean the throttle body on my Ford Escape myself or get a professional to do it. Seems like a straightforward job?

Shutter painting. Being a landscape painter as well as a photographer, I try to employ the same techniques in seascapes as I do on a real canvas. Although the only manipulation is done in camera using the right exposures and shutter speeds. The ocean is always moving so it's just a matter of watching closely and choosing the right shutter speed and getting the timing perfect.
Apart from composing the scene, I never look through the viewfinder. I find it is too restricting. A photographers real camera is his eyes. I stand to the side with a cable release and just zone into the movement of the surf and how the water interacts with it's surroundings. The camera is like another set of eyes, I take the the initial picture in my mind and the camera is just an extension that records it.
This is the best way I can describe how I go about my seascapes, after several emails asking me about... more »

Hi guys, new shot to upload this morning, taken at Pheasant Point, Kiama yesterday. I turned up at just the right time as the tide was going out to find these rock shelves exploding with ocean waterfalls, a little bit of patience and good timing can produce dramatic results. Hope everyone has a great day!

I don't think I've uploaded this one of my little girl Sinead before. I like this shot I took as she and I were walking through the thick bush area near the beach. I used an 85mm and flash. Damn it, why do they have to grow up? I just want to pause them at this age.

Hi guys, another shot from my outing the other day. While I'm here I'd like to give a shoutout to some of my favourite photographers here on G+. Photographers who I gain inspiration from and whose work I enjoy viewing. They all deserve a follow as they all have their own unique vision and all give back to the photography world. In one way or another.
Some are seascapers, some are not. Most of them need a bigger following.

I was down at the ocean pool yesterday afternoon as some heavy storm clouds rolled into Kiama, apart from having to dash for cover now and then from the rain it was a beautiful evening.
This rock pool gets alot of use normally especially in the warmer months. I generally wouldn't shoot from this angle but studying the waves for a time I noticed the swell crashing into these rocks and creating some nice drama against the sunset sky.
