Jesse Wojdylo923,970Over the last few months I have noticed many people using Twitter to supplement Google+ or the other way around. I think there are some very effective strategies that can be used. This week we will get some of those strategies out on the table. All the information you need on Google Plus Chat is available here: http://wojdylosocialmedia.com/google-plus-chat-twitter-chat/ In December of last year I really jumped on Twitter in a big way as I love the real time updates and the sports engagement. This has yet to come to Google+ so I spend my weekends chatting it up with college football and college basketball folks. While doing that I notice plenty of other awesome social media users that know and love the Google+ platform. This led me to these discussion questions: 1. How long have you been active on Twitter? 2. Do you use Twitter for pleasure or business? Or pain? 3. Do you auto post to Twitter? Do you post Google+ Posts? 4. How do you use Twitter to supplement Google+? 5. Mention some active Twitter users that may enjoy Google+ 6. Do you want a Google Plus Chat on Christmas Eve? Please join us for #googlepluschat  on Twitter every Tuesday at 2:00 pm est. We will discuss if there will be a Christmas Eve event or not. Either way, join us this week!Google Plus Chat Twitter Chat2013-12-17 20:00:0053

WITH A NUCLEAR BOMB HITLER WOULD HAVE WON THE WAR

How close was Nazi Germany in obtaining an atom bomb?

In January of 1939, the German chemists Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann published the results of an historic experiment: after bombarding uranium with neutrons—neutrally charged particles—they found barium, an element roughly half the size of uranium. Their former colleague Lise Meitner, who a few months before had been forced to flee Germany and seek refuge in Sweden, and her nephew Otto Frisch realized that the uranium nucleus had split in two. These revelations touched off a frenzy of scientific work on fission around the world.

The Nanking Massacre or Nanjing Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, was a mass murder and war rape that occurred during the six-week period following the Japanese capture of the city of Nanking (Nanjing), the former capital of the Republic of China, on December 13, 1937 during the Second Sino-Japanese War. During this period, hundreds of thousands of Chinese civilians and disarmed soldiers were murdered by soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army.

The European Space Agency's (ESA) ExoMars program (Exobiology on Mars) is a series of missions designed to understand if life ever existed on Mars.

The first mission in the ExoMars program is called the Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO), undertaken in partnership between ESA and Russia's Federal Space Agency, Roscosmos.

The first mission of the ExoMars programme, scheduled to arrive at Mars in 2016, consists of a Trace Gas Orbiter plus an entry, descent and landing demonstrator module, known as Schiaparelli. The main objectives of this mission are to search for evidence of methane and other trace atmospheric gases that could be signatures of active biological or geological processes and to test key technologies in preparation for ESA's contribution to subsequent missions to Mars.

Guacamole Onion Rings

Here’s what you will need:

3 avocados, ripe
1 lime
1 tomato, diced and drained of excess water
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
2 small-medium yellow onions
Flour
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups panko bread crumbs
Oil for frying

Directions:

In a medium mixing bowl, mash avocados with the juice of one lime. Mix in chopped tomato, cilantro, garlic, salt, and chili powder.
Cut onion into 1/2-inch slices. Carefully separate the layers into individual rings. On a wax paper–lined tray, lay out onion rings and fill each with guacamole. Place tray in freezer until solid (about one hour).
Add flour, beaten eggs, and panko bread crumbs to three separate bowls. Remove frozen guacamole rings from freezer. Roll each first in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs. Coat once more in egg and a final time in bread crumbs.
In a large saucepan, heat oil to 350˚F (180˚C). Fry guacamole onion rings in batches until nicely browned on all sides. Place on paper towel–lined plate to drain off any excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and lime juice. Serve with sour cream.

The Deap-Frozen Flying Saucer – ALMA finds unexpectedly cold grains in planet-forming disc
From ESO: Astronomers have used the ALMA and IRAM telescopes to make the first direct measurement of the temperature of the large dust grains in the outer parts of a planet-forming disc around a young star. By applying a novel technique to observations of an object nicknamed the Flying Saucer they find that the grains are much colder than expected: −266 degrees Celsius. This surprising result suggests that models of these discs may need to be revised. Read more: http://www.eso.org/public/news/eso1604/

What do these countries have in common - besides being in Europe?

They are all part of something big and beautiful. If you don't know or not sure, check out the following link. Its safe :)

There are few photos that capture a moment in time more than this one.

Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk Thích Quang Duc burned himself to death at a busy intersection in Saigon.

Quang Duc was protesting the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government led by Ngô Đình Diệm. On the 11th June 1963, approximately 350 monks and nuns marched in two phalanxes, preceded by an Austin Westminster sedan, carrying banners printed in both English and Vietnamese.

Quang Duc and two other Buddhists emerged from the car, one placing a cushion on the ground on which Quang Duc sat, and the other poured gasoline over him. The 350 other monks formed a circle around him. After undertaking his prayers, he lit the match himself.

His final words?

His final words?

Before closing my eyes and moving towards the vision of the Buddha, I respectfully plead to President Ngô Đình Diệm to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to maintain the strength of the homeland eternally. I call the venerables, reverends, members of the sangha and the lay Buddhists to organize in solidarity to make sacrifices to protect Buddhism.

Sometimes the only way to knock some sense into people, is with a handbag.

Danuta Danielsson, a Polish Jew, decided to "educate" the neo-Nazi skinhead back on the 13th of April 1985 - with her handbag. Aged 38 at the time, it was her way of showing how she felt regarding the Nazi ideology, not least influenced by the fact that her mother was in a Nazi concentration camp during World War 2.

Not much is known about her and, unlike many people today, declined to be interviewed at the time. She passed away in 1988 at the age of 41.

The neo-Nazi’s name was Seppo Seluska who was a militant Nazi from the Nordic Reich Party, later convicted for murder. He tortured and murdered a Jewish homosexual later the same year.

This is exactly what they said about the Greeks and Italians after World War 2, the Vietnamese after the Vietnam war etc. And yet, each successive generation has integrated into the general society.

"Humanitarian entrants face significant settlement challenges as a result of their experience of persecution and discrimination," the paper says.

"They may need to overcome educational and English language barriers, as well as mental and physical health problems.

"In general, they have lower labour market participation, are less highly educated and have lower rates of English language proficiency than other migrant cohorts or the Australian-born population."
