Strength Lesson: Don't let anyone convince you otherwise...training is supposed to be fun!

The training process is so much more enjoyable when you can enjoy it in the present moment. Too often individuals put their mean mug on and go to the gym pissed off, as if that's the only way to train hard. While there's obviously a time and a place for everything - including a serious attitude - there's no reason not to smile, laugh, and have a great time. 

Every time I step foot in the gym I know I'm going to have a blast - not necessarily because I'll hit a new PR but because I love training and hanging out with those around me. Don't be afraid to joke around and crack a smile in between sets - it's not going to make you appear any less "tough" and will likely make you (and everyone around you) more comfortable in the gym.

NWF's new report was released today! It's been 3 years since the BP-operated oil rig exploded, releasing millions of barrels of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. More than 650 dolphins have been found stranded in the oil spill area since the disaster began (over 4x the historical average)!

Just a little tip that will save you some headaches. Ever want to block email permanently from a particular website? If you use gmail, create a filter by selecting "filter messages like these" using this (with quotes) and check "Delete it" on the next page.

"*@xxxxx.com"

For Example, want to block Sprint emails? Create this filter:

"*@sprint.com"

You will never see another email from the domain sprint.com again.

I've made well over a thousand of these filters over the past few years, and you wouldn't believe how much garbage gets filtered out this way.

+Rich Leighton has put together a great blog post around mental stagnation.  The "cure" points that fit close to my vest are the following:

- get away from your usual location and try or participate in a very different activity

- (a good one) stop paying attention to what others say – especially on social media

- exercise – feel a burning cinder of uncertainty in the pit of your being? Go running, do something physically strenuous or do some cardio and burn that stagnation up and out. Spend at least an hour at it. The natural high will help get you back on track.
