Truly honored to have my work share the pages with the likes of Dan Winters, Pierre Gonnord, Dmitry Ageev etc. This issue is a portrait special which also includes a university thesis on portraiture by Michelangelo Apezteguía. 
For my friends in Spain it should be available at your local magazine kiosk soon, i'll be waiting for my copy to arrive! :)

'Mother'
A bit more of a personal type shot of my mother. I've been meaning to take her portrait for a little while now and the opportunity to take it with a real camera (med format) wasn't to be missed and although it was originally going to be a straight portrait in the end who was I kidding? I don't do straight! So I wanted to shoot her in her more traditional costume reflecting her birthplace origin, the north western region of Greece, Epirus. This shot's for the family! :)

And this is the shot we start off 2013 with! Taken with the Pentax 645D medium format camera yesterday early evening at a closeby location with my usual outdoor one light setup. Some issues on arriving by breaking a speedlight hotshoe, rf trigger not firing due to bad contacts and an unexpected yet welcome cold windy weather change but we pulled the shot off within 15 minutes! A great start to 2013! ;)

This week has been really good to me!!! Earlier this week I found out I ranked in Creative Asia Awards and just earlier on I received another e-mail that went something like this...

"Dear Bill,
The Committee of the Fremantle Portrait Prize is delighted to inform you that your image has been short listed for final judging in the Fremantle Portrait Prize......"

My shortlisted image will be printed and on exhibit between 6th - 21st October 2012 at the Moores Building Contemporary Gallery, 46 Henry St, Fremantle WA.

Great News!!!
The final judging results are out! My gold awarded photo in the open portrait category has placed 2nd as 'Creative Asia Portrait Photographer Of The Year 2012' from both the combined open and environmental portrait categories! It has come 1st in the open portrait category! I couldn't be happier, just a pity it's a Tuesday as i'll have to wait till the end of the week to toast it!!! :-)))

GOLD! CREATIVE ASIA AWARDS 2012
This is the photo that scored a Gold award in the final judging round of Creative Asia Awards 2012 in Hong Kong today. What makes this one special is that it was already an honour being placed top 25 in the Open Portrait category but to have my work judged by names like Arias, Langford, McNally, Greenberg, Earp etc. and for them to award me a Gold up against some of the best professional photographers in the world scene is just the icing on the cake! Thank you!

Potatoes - Yesterday I cleaned the tool shed out! Within an hour I had this concept worked out and had to shoot it as the texture of the wooden workbench and the light streaming in caught my attention. Quality of light was awesome but needed more of it and placed a speedlight and shoot thru umbrella outdoors firing in!
