They were having so much fun! And getting that muddy is no problem when you're footsteps from the sandy beach! I would have joined them, but we were on a mission to head out to the point to find the baby albatross.

With all the different varieties of plummeria, I get a bit carried away when I go to the grove. They are all so beautiful! And they all smell differently delicious too!

Yesterday we went to Koko Crater Botanical Gardens to see if the plummeria were blooming. I've climbed to the top of that crater from the outside, but the garden inside is a peaceful wonderland of blossoms and song birds.

I love to walk my neighborhood before the sun comes up. Here you see the sun just kissing the tops of the clouds as they sit above downtown Honolulu.

Ok, last #hawaii shot of the day.
This is Waimoku Falls which is 400 feet high!
It's a hot steamy hike up to it and you better bring your bug spray, but it's gorgeous! Oddly, a local 8 year old girl hiked up there with her family and got hit on the head by a baseball size rock. It killed her. So, don't get to close to the rock face, or wear a helmet!

It is thought this is where an ancient shrine once stood in Makua Valley, #hawaii You can still see the tiered levels and walls out lining the old stone floors now covered with grass.

Yes, I was born and raised in this sleepy little farm town...
Dixon May Fair was the biggest thing going on all year! There's a parade down main street Saturday morning - which yes I was in with the high school band. Entered my 4-H sewing, baked items, craft items, rabbits, and sheep in the fair too! This is small town USA at it's finest!
Ohhhh... you don't have to be from there to enter the Hog Calling contest! Just go on down!

Here in Makua Valley, it is thought that the ancient Hawaiians pounded "bowls" in these flat rocks for the salt to collect. Hawaiian sea salt is all I use! It makes everything taste better and is better for you than ordinary salt (Kosher or sea). Hey, I use it all the time, yet Hubby and I both have low blood pressure! And you know I love to eat! =P

We were told to report ALL sightings of anything metal or shiny. This was a live fire zone as of 8 years ago and has much unexploded ordinance on it... How crazy is it that this showed up, and stopped our exploration for 15 minutes, just 2 minutes into the day! It's just an unused blank some soldier in training dropped.

One of the BEST things about +Google+ is meeting in real life, the people we meet here. To do so in a sacred place is truly an honor! Today I had such an honor. Fellow G+er +Justin Hill - whom I met here - requested my husband and I join him in a small group blessing and walk in Makua Valley. We have been hiking all over this island of Oahu, and have admired Makua from afar via the ridge tops... Makua Valley was a LIVE fire site (it's under military control) as of just 8 years ago. Now, with a strained relationship, the military allow the Malama Makua to access the sacred lands of their ancestors. This is just one shot from inside the valley as we entered. It does not do it justice, but I will post a few more later, with the hope of passing on to you a little of the positive healing energy which emanates thereof.

The pink China Hibiscus is now in bloom in Foster's Botanical Garden in Honolulu, Hawaii. I think the hibiscus flower is my second favorite. And only second to plummeria because of how intoxicating plummeria smell.

Hubby shot me yesterday while we were taking pictures of geckos at Foster's Garden. I wasn't "made up" to have my pic taken... but I thought it too funny to be wearing the same shirt I had on a couple years ago when he shot my profile pic in the same location! I haven't worn that shirt in 6 months!

Went to Foster's Garden today here in Honolulu, Hawaii. These little guys were everywhere! We even got to see an entire mating ritual. I'll try to post more of our gecko friends later. Meanwhile... here's one I name "Blue Eyes" and here's to looking at YOU kid!
