I had a friend of mine post up a photo of some fish heads that were on the menu in Turkey and immediately thought of this old song...I loved this when I was a kid...the fish heads in the garden was brilliant. Be warned..if you have never heard of this song, it will stay with you like the stink of a really ripe fish...forever.

I watched the horrifying live feed from yesterday's tornadoes in Oklahoma of people in shock and the first responders' heroic efforts to save and recover those that were trapped in the rubble from the devastation.
Every time there is a tornado with loss of life and property, I am reminded again of my own experience of surviving a killer tornado back in Cabot, Arkansas in 1976. I, too, was in a school, praying for my safety as well as that of my family, crouched in the duck and cover position while the glass windows were being blown out above me.
The one thing that stands out to me, though, was that I was not as worried about myself as I was for my parents and little brother.
Actually, I don't recall being terrified at all. I was 9 years old, and for me, the whole experience was more like a surreal dream when I was in the middle of the worst of the storm.

Saw the new Star Trek movie...absolutely fabulous. We saw it in 3-D and it was worth it. I liked it better than the first one...what an incredible franchise!

I was just sitting on our front porch, and a coyote loped across a small stream heading right towards me.
I know they won't attack (hopefully) but that scared the crap out of me at any rate.
I moved pretty quickly to the door...wonder where he is now? Laughing at me, I bet.

+Harold Jarche ruminates about four basic types of jobs (based on Lou Adler's work [1]). There are Thinkers, Builders, Improvers and Producers which require future skills needed in a Creative/Abundance/Knowledge Economy and reduce past skills (but are high in demand if you're a machine) for the Industrial/Information Economy. This aligns nicely with an earlier visulization based on a previous article from Harold [3]. Read more on Harold's blog (and subscribe!) [2].

So, does anyone have this book on their bookshelf collecting any dust? Amazon will sell you a used paperback copy for a $1000. New? Twice that.

I found this article to be really apropos to my life in regard to a big decision we have made concerning our own lives, and how important supportive relationships are, especially right now.
I’m going home. Back to Arkansas after being away for well over a decade. I still can’t quite come to grips with this big, full circle move.
But my husband and I want our lives to be different...we want it to be more about our own supportive relationships with others and how we need to nurture them.
My dad had cataract surgery this week and as I was waiting for him in the waiting room, I was sitting next to a very nice gentleman. I dug around in my purse for my Kindle to help pass the time while Dad was in surgery and he was busy on his iPhone. He casually mentioned something about what we did before we had all of this technology and I quipped, ‘We talked to each to each other and got t... more »

Woven Dreams
by Stacie Florer
A wicker basket
that
was held by hip,
holding
her precious family's
clothing.
Her family is
gone
yet the mother
remembers
the smell of her
babies.
And the basket
still
waits to carry
clothes
that will never
come.

Ever examine your reasons for why you wear or make jewelry?
I think I started out making it because I was looking for a creative outlet, then it became a way for me to have a sense of belonging with other jewelry makers and that morphed into feelings of pride to be able to create what I can imagine. That, and the feelings of capability I get when I use cool tools!
I wear it mostly to express my creativity, and not identify with the mass-produced goods that are out there that tend to water down individuality.
And I like a good story too...when I wear my Soar necklace, I always get asked about it, and I relate my story of the hot air balloon and what it was like to do something that I was so afraid of.
That always leads me into stories of courage with others...which is awesome!
What about you?

"When you understand the nature of reality and your part in forming it, then you can no longer look to others to solve your problems for you, and you realize that your own beliefs are the rich creative elements that you yourself must mix and match. If you think that certain foods will help you, then they will be effective in that system—because of your beliefs. If you believe in doctors, then they will help you. If you believe in healers then they can help you, but all of those aids are only temporary at best." Seth, The Nature of Personal Reality

I helped a friend of mine on Friday set up an Etsy shop for her 8 x 10 prints. She's one of those people that come into your life that you instantly know will always be a part of your life going forward. She's an amazing wordsmith. She used to write songs for recording artists and has over 150 published songs in the world. But she decided to follow her own voice and has written a few books and is a word artist.
Her work is what I turn to when I want to gift someone something tangible for a Milestone Moment in their life. And I am not really a 'card giver', but since knowing her, I find myself reaching for her cards to send to my friends and family when I have something important to say to them, or to just let them know in a beautiful way that I love them. And admire them. And am thinking of them.
Anyway...I am plugging her and her work because knowing her has im... more »

I've decided to run my own March Madness tournament...3 pairs of hoops per week during the month...this design has a lot of possibilities, plus, it was fun to 'shoot'...I love basketball, but was way to short to be of much use in school when I played. Oh to be tall for one day! Just to know what it would feel like to dunk a basketball! Guess I will settle for pearls!

Gently rising, a ramp makes the journey to a door, to an opening, easier.
Love in action.
Love in action has been on my mind all week. What does love really look like? I’ve heard the words all of my life, but what structures are around us that are love in action?
My photograph is of my next door neighbor’s doorway. She had a stroke years ago, and unable to walk through her doorway anymore, her family built her a ramp so that they could wheel her up gently when she had the desire to leave her house.
Love in action is a choice to turn a feeling into something tangible.
What does self-love look like?
For me, my self-love in action revolves around something as simple as a membership to a health club that has a swimming pool. And my self-love in action involves using a handy tool called Myfitnesspal to daily track and become aware of the food... more »

As I was out walking today, trying to find a flower, I found something else…I found another season.
One where the very young and the very old are the main attraction…and the blooms and butterflies, the birds and the bees –are not.
The entry and the exit into our world is beautiful in its own way.
One is not the other; but they complement each other, and this odd season sandwiched between Winter and Spring, where the endings and beginnings share the same stage, is delightful.
Like a great-grandmother holding a newborn grand-baby, knowing that their time together is precious and fleeting…or the dusk and the dawn getting a glimpse of each other.
One is saying hello, as the other says goodbye.
