TechDissected545This is the +TechDissected  #Photography  circle. This is the place where we have some of the most awesome photographers on G+. However, we're looking for more to add to it. Do you fit in this circle or do you know someone that does that's not a part of it? If so, comment with the person's name and tag them so we can add them to our special #Photography  circle!2014-04-11 23:42:09186304CC G+
Gene Bowker66,344The   #Alphabetcircles  Gene's Active Photographers on G+ circle.Part Five: First Name R-Z (the final set)Meet 490 more ACTIVE G+ photographers with First Names between R and Z.Tomorrow is going to be a busy day at work, so I decided to go ahead and shoot this off tonight. It's that time again, I've been doing Spring Cleaning even though it isn't Spring officially yet here and going through my photography circles again to check out what folks have been sharing and see who is still active on G+.I've visited each of the folks included in this circles within the last week and they have been active in the last month (or so) and regularly post their OWN photography. They come from all over the world and their styles vary as much as their choice of equipment and subject matter. There are a lot of folks in here that I've been friends with for years, but there are also a lot of newer folks who you've probably not met yet and who I am looking forward to getting to know better myself. My Selection Criteria1. Actively posting photos on G+ (usually within 30 days or so)2. We circle each other (sometimes for a long time)3. Primarily post their OWN photography (that's a judgement call on my part)4. "Safe for work" (another judgement call)Why you should follow them?1. Add active photographers to your stream without a lot of inactive accounts.2. Find some new folks to interact with who are ACTIVE on G+As always.. if you do add them.. the best way to do that is to create a new circle and that way you can watch it and decide if they fit with you or notGoogle has recently changed the circle add logic, so you can no longer search a shared circle to determine who is in it and only add people that you don't already share. This makes life harder for all of us.Not in here?1. Maybe we haven't met yet?  If so, I'd love to hear from you and I'll be sure to check out your stream. Be sure to circle me if you haven't as I check those who add me regularly.2. Maybe you don't post public? If not, there is a good chance that you looked inactive to me.3. Maybe you don't post "primarily" photography... once again that is subjective.I love it when you shareIt does take a lot of time to visit and compile the lists. I enjoy doing it but feel free to re-share the circle with your friends. That way they can find some great new photographers too.  You don't have to reshare to remain in the circle, but it is appreciated. If you follow along you can easily add 2000+ photographers to your stream too.Gene Bowker+Rusted Rail Images   Here are the others in the seriesPart One: A-C https://plus.google.com/u/0/111112809838472063992/posts/1KejHoGGhBzPart Two: D-Ghttps://plus.google.com/u/0/111112809838472063992/posts/R9GFFEnR1CmPart Three: H-Khttps://plus.google.com/u/0/111112809838472063992/posts/Beo3nKCJS6oPart Four: L-Qhttps://plus.google.com/u/0/+GeneBowker/posts/J2pQM7ZpBoJ (thanks Randy for catching that)Thanks again to everyone in all of the circles. Justin Hill22,601114 HDR Photographers :- Here's my second circle share for the weekend. I have two circles for photographers and this is my second which concentrates on those that indulge in HDR photography. Some in this circle use the technique all the time and others only once in a while. Each and every one of them is a great photographer in their own right which is why I added them and created this circle carefully over time. You won't see much overblown HDR here, they are all very good at what they do and their images prove it. Once again this circle was put together by me and all within it were hand picked due to my likes and preferences. If I have left you out then I am sorry but I simply cannot put everyone I see in a circle so i have been deliberately selective.  Please feel free to add them all to your own circles or pick your way through and select just a few. By all means share if you so wish. Enjoy...2013-10-13 20:19:15114202CC G+

Margaret Tompkins43,985>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Great Photographers With < 50,000 FollowersThis is a very special circle.  I’ve not shared it before but I have shared the people in it.  I call it the Graduates Circle.  These are the fine people that I shared with you when they had < 25,000 followers but now they have more – they’ve graduated!  These are the people who are top photographers, very interactive, and are the heart and soul of G+.  I ask each of them to identify those people who inspire them, form a circle and share it.The photographers here are all in my personal circles.  The choices are mine and mine alone.  No one asked, begged, or pleaded to belong.  No bribes were offered or accepted.  These are the people that I follow because I appreciate their great quality photography and their interaction.  Most I have met as I help curate several of the photography themes.  There are NO requirements to share this circle.  I would appreciate the people in this circle plus the post, leave a comment, and share the circle as public.  Each profile has been verified by me.  Most have between 25,000 and 50,000 followers.  They each have high quality original photography content.  You won’t find many animated gifs!  I have included myself in the circle. I wasn’t included, what do I do?  If you meet the criteria, weren’t included, but think you should be, then leave me a comment.  Maybe I don’t know about you.  There are millions of people on G+ and I don’t know everyone.  However, I’ll be happy to have a look at your work if you will call it to my attention.  Start posting landscapes that get my attention (see above)!!There’s a really great photographer XXX that you didn’t include.  Please feel free to recommend qualified people.  I discover new people every day and would be happy to look at their work.  Please make sure that the recommended person meets the criteria.  If they don’t then that tells me a lot about you! #Circleshare   #Sharedcircles   2013-02-16 21:06:161261232987CC G+
Jeff Sullivan1,152,722Most-Followed 500 Photographers CircleWhile a circle like this has the obvious drawback of missing some excellent photographers newer to the site, Charles often follows up his Top 500 Most Followed Photographer circle with circles going all the way down to photographers with less than 5000 contacts.  Here are four circles Charles has created to help us discover and recognize photographers at all levels within the G+ community:Under 5000 -    Under 7500 -    Under 15,000 - 500 Most Followed Photographers - (here)I like to interact with people who are active in photography... share at least a photo or two of their own original work per week, so I'll slowly whittle the circle down to a stream of excellent photography (I've started, but may not finish for a few weeks).---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+Charles Lupica  Charles Lupica Dec 25, 2012 (edited)  -  Public►►►►►►►═════════════════════◄◄◄◄◄◄◄         Top 500 most followed photographers list                   circle of 500             and Group 6: 421 to 500►►►►►►►═════════════════════◄◄◄◄◄◄◄If you're not in this circle and you think you should be, I'm sorry.  I have missed a few people by pure accident.  My methods are entirely manual and I do miss people.  I have checked every profile and I have included only those people that share their own work, and share it on G+. Bloggers and people doing mostly reshares weren't included. Some big name photographers that don't share a lot of their own work were included - sorry for the double standard. Here is the 6th and last part  of my list of the top 500 most followed photographers - Here are links to the previous parts of the list.Group 1: http://tinyurl.com/cf58vws - 1 to 100Group 2: http://tinyurl.com/bodaspk - 101 to 193Group 3: http://tinyurl.com/bsb87u4 - 194 to 250 and circleGroup 4: http://tinyurl.com/d4ulv6q  - 250 to 340Group 5: http://tinyurl.com/cjpmgy4 - 341 to 420 Group 6: 421 to 500 and circle of 500 (this post)If you are on this list, I urge you to comment, plus and share the post. I have sifted through lots of pages and circles as well as http://circlecount.com/  to try to get an accurate list. If I'm missing anyone, please let me know.  I have specifically left off a few people who only share links to their content housed elsewhere,  people who share a lot of other people's work without sharing their own, or people that appear to be inactive. The rank numbers are off by 1 because I included the same person twice in an earlier list.#Top500CircleDec   #circleshare   #circlesharing   #sharedcircles   #sharedpubliccircles  420 +Jennifer Luzio 21797421 +Matt Suess 21794422 +2013-01-07 15:33:25500221451CC G+

AJ Durling0This is a bonus circle, and is actually pretty much where I started when I was creating my first circles - Top 500 PlussersIt is the people with the highest number of users - and is actually now only 308 people. When I first collected the Top 500 Plussers on Google+, I spend a lot of time weeding out the people whose posts in which I didn't particularly have an interest (e.g. almost all of the photographers - nothing against people who post photos to G+, it's just me: this is Google+, not Flickr; people who only ever promote themselves - so quite a lot of the pop musicians). The list that is left are people who, I think, actually contribute to the stream. You may find some surprising choices (Dolly Parton?! Actually, yes!). But I hope you enjoy it.I've kept the name Top 500 even though it is a lot fewer than 500. I like the irony... #circleshare   #sharedcircles   #celebrity   #topcircles  2012-10-19 15:06:56307302CC G+

Gene Bowker39,441Improve your stream - Part 4 #StreamCircle  Here is the next part of the "Improve your Stream" Circles which I have been sharing for the last week.  This is a quick way to increase the amount of photography in your stream and get to know some new photographers you have probably not heard of yet.Why Share? While there is never a requirement to share any of my circles, sharing is important as it helps to spread photographers across G+. With over 100 million users most people actually only have a few people in common with each other. Sharing helps to connect those circles in an amazing way.I've shared over 1200 photographers and there are STILL photographers in the que to be reviewed and shared. In addition, I'm discovering new (at least to me) talent each day through the shares of others on G+.I've visited each of the streams included in here and made sure they are still active and that they are sharing photography regularly. Not in this one? You might have been in the other shares below.Part one: http://goo.gl/iSXpTPart two: http://goo.gl/RgukePart three: http://goo.gl/HdAVUThanks for taking the time to read! I mean, you've seen circles for "Most interactive photographers", The Kick Ass Photographers", "The Inspirational Photographers", "The best Nature and Wildlife Photographers", and the list goes on.This post contains a list and a circle. The circle contains the 500 most followed photographers with less than 60'000 followers.  The list is a list of photographers that have more than 60'000 followers.  Most people on the list have over 1 million followers because they are on the G+ list of suggested users (commonly referred to as the SUL).  But who are the most followed ? Here is an updated version of a circle  I shared a few months back. I have tried to find all of the top photographers and add them to this circle. Obviously the last 50 places probably change daily so this is the list as I checked it before sharing. The number of followers needed to be on the list has changed a lot over the last 4 months.  Back in February you needed  13'117 followers, in mid-June that number is around 17'200. Why is this circle of interest ? Well, because it wasn't chosen by me or any other individual. It was chosen by the G+ community. Some of the people in the circle are great photographers, some are great at being interactive, some are just plain good at marketing themselves, and many have a combination of the above. But, in the end, the G+ community has chosen them as the top 550 photographers to follow.• Why is xxxx not on the list ?  Photographers that haven't been active on G+ for more than 6 weeks weren't included.  Several photographers that only post sporadically and generally less than one post a month aren't included• If you find someone on the list that you don't really think is a photographer, send me an email and / or a private post and I'll look into removing them or leave a comment below.• If you know of someone that I missed that has more than 17'200 followers, let me know and I'll add them to the list for next time.• You could call this the User's Choice Award circle because people on G+ have chosen to follow the people in this list and circle. Why share this circle ? Photographers were among the first people to embrace G+. Over the last few months I have seen photographers add significant numbers of followers and fall in over all standings. Wordy people and celebrities are overtaking photographers. +Trey Ratcliff +Thomas Hawk and +Lisa Bettany are the only photographer2012-06-14 13:42:29500244215241CC G+

I have never done this but I am calling on the power of Google+ to help out a local Ultimate Frisbee Youth team called Brookwood Inferno. They have entered a contest to win some training equipment using a photo I took at a tournament. They get 1point for likes, 2 points for comments and 3 points for shares. Please click on the link then the photo and like it, comment and share it. Let's see what kind of power Google+ has! Thanks!

Fraumünster Church - Zurich, Switzerland

Yes, I still am working on photos from my Switzerland trip. This is a shot of Fraumünster Church on the Limmat River. There are so many photo opps along the Limmat River you could spend a week and still not capture everything. This is one of my favorite shots I took in Zurich.

SCHILTHORN, SWITZERLAND

The revolving restaurant on this 2900m mountain in the Swiss Alps is a wonderful spot to take in the beauty of the Swiss Alps. It was used in the filming of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, a James Bond film (provided this time by George Lazenby). Filming at the restaurant, which was then not completed, was only allowed on condition that the film company contribute towards construction costs. The Piz Gloria restaurant is still going (and rotating) strong today. You can sample a James Bond buffet and there's even a ski run leading off from here, just like the film. Her Majesty would surely approve!

Lakewood, Washington

I spent some time up in Washington with my family over Christmas and was able to spend a day shooting in the cold drizzle. Here is a shot from their dock on the lake at sunrise. Mt. Rainier was off to the left but was completely covered with clouds the entire trip. I am planning a 7 day trip driving down the Pacific coast soon and will have to make a detour to Mt. Rainier.

At the Michael Kenna exhibit at The Tacoma Art Museum. Michael Kenna has some amazing work on display here. With that being said I remember why I don't like going to these exhibits The snooty folks running the exhibits are dreadful. You can get ten times the exposure on line than you can at a museum. Still Kenna's work is amazing.

Art on the Atlanta BeltLine

Photo opportunities sometimes just show up out of thin air. Kind of like a UFO does. I was photographing an Junior Ultimate League in Atlanta. When I see this UFO laying over on hill in the brush. Being the curious humanoid I am I had to take a look! When I came up over the hill I was not greeted by a little green guy with big eyes... but was greeted by the very friendly artist of this cool exhibit. His name is Cash Barnes and is just one of many artist who has a piece of art on the Atlanta BeltLine. Mr. Barnes is a metal fabricator from the Atlanta area and this is his first piece of art he has ever been contracted to create. So, since this is a crashed UFO obviously during processing I had visions of the 1940's in Roswell New Mexico and that was the look I was going for.

If you are in the area bring your camera. There are many pieces of art to... more »

Folly Beach

The Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Pier is the centerpiece of Folly Beach. By name alone that would not be considered an exciting fact to new visitors. Perhaps that’s because “fishing pier” does not completely define it.

The Folly Beach Pier is 24 feet wide, extends more than 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, and is 23 feet above sea level. A 7,500 sq ft diamond shaped two level sheltered platform gives the pier a distinctive look. It is the second in size to only one other pier on the east coast.

This is an absolutely wonderful place. I have to admit this was my first time shooting in a cemetery....and I felt a little weirded out. Is weirded even a word? I'm getting off topic again...sorry. So I here I am walking around where there are thousands of souls at rest and I have my camera taking shots. Is that wrong?

It is a beautiful place though and with a lot of photo opportunities. if you are ever in that neck of the woods it is worth a stop. Even if you do not take any shots.

Do you post photos taken with your camera phone? I have usually just used it to send a photo through a text message. Then I spent a week taking only shots with my phone. This shot was posted straight from my phone with no processing at all. What do you say?

The Swamp Angel

The land you see in the distance is called Morris Island. In 1863 Union forces built a battery there and mounted an eight-inch Parrott rifle on the island named the Swamp Angel. The gun fired 150-pound shells at the city of Charleston, South Carolina nearly five miles away. The intentional bombardment of the civilian population shattered the city’s security. The Swamp Angel was destroyed when it exploded after its 36th round was fired. The massive gun was replaced by other guns and the bombardment continued for 18 more months. It’s amazing how men can turn such a beautiful scene like this into a place of horror.

Sims Farm

So I decided to head out one late afternoon to find a spot to shoot a great sunset. It had rained all day and stopped a few hours before sunset so I knew it would be spectacular. My only problem was I had no spot in mind. I decide I would go to Fort Yargo State park when I spotted this great little farm. I decide to stop and ask if I could set up and take a few shots. I ran across a gentleman named Clay Sims and he was more than generous. You would have thought we have known each other for years. That is just how it is in the south. He invited me back to take photos so I will be posting more shots of this farm. This is a great little piece of heaven. Thanks again Mr. Sims!

Château Élan

If you wan to experience warm southern hospitality combined with the beauty of the French countryside then Château Élan is a place you need to visit.

The stunning scenes of Château Élan is located in the north Georgia foothills, just 40 minutes away from Atlanta. Château Élan began the planting of vineyards in 1981. Since then it has grown into a 3,500 acre conference and leisure destination where French provincial and Southern hospitality combine to produce exceptional wines and warm memories. Château Élan is a great place for a romantic weekend and maybe squeeze in a few photos if you can talk your better half into letting you bring your tripod. :)

I was shooting my sons Football / Soccer game this past week. At the half I saw this ball sitting out all alone with the shadows closing in fast. I saw an opportunity for a cool photo so me being me I had to take advantage of it. This happens a lot to me. I am on a shoot and see something completely off task and I have to shoot it. I have learned that some of the best opportunity's are the ones that present themselves out of the blue. So my tip of the day is. If an opportunity presents itself, you better take the shot because it may not happen again for a long, long time. Because we always carry our camera with us. Don't we?
