Meilani MacDonald6,228Public Speakers and ToastmastersRecently, +Kate Manser  shared her circle of Public Speakers.  I added my small circle of Toastmasters, and promised to share the results, and here they are!If anyone would like to have the Toastmasters separated out, send me a request and I'll be happy to share my TM circle.  It only has 12 people in it I think.  Anyone who is in this public speaking circle, if you are also a Toastmaster and would like to be included in my Toastmaster circle, please leave a comment below. I would like to grow the Toastmasters circle, connect with more of you and perhaps integrate Hangouts into our toastmaster activities.  For example, if you need a couple more speeches to get that coveted designation, and would like to try a different venue, how about doing it via a Hangout!  Or if you want to practice a speech and get feedback from other Toastmasters we can hold a speech giving and evaluating hangout.  Sounds like fun doesn't it!2012-09-24 22:20:50169604CC G+
Trever McGhee12,222+Take2seconds  to click the share button...the add buttonI did, this is an amazing circle of Public Speakers that +Kate Manser  created.I love her idea finding all the Public Speakers here on Google and putting them in one circle for people to easily find and connect to. Through out your life you're going to be attracted to one or more Public Speakers that will not only inspire you but give you the drive an energy to achieve your goals faster than you thought was possible. If you know of anyone not in the circle or if you're interested in becoming one please leave a comment because everyone is a Public Speaker when you come from the heart...with passion of what you're talking about and you don't have to stand on a stage to do it. It can be done from anywhere and why not here on Google+ so tag your post, video, picture with the hashtag #PublicSpeaking    as suggested by +Kate Manser . I fully support her mission to get everyone who has a Public Speaking tip to share it freely with the hashtag #PublicSpeaking  so that everyone benefits from it.Including me, I never do the same talk twice....for I'm constantly growing and learning new ways to motivate people, to connect on a one on one bases even in a room full of 5000 people, to pass these tools on to new & old leaders. The needs / the energy of every single person is unique in their own way that changes with every situation through out their life..compounded by the environment they live in... that is also forever changing and growing in different directions. It's that unique energy of each person that's so incredible...it becomes phenomenal when their given an environment to connect with others..Check out these Public Speakers and let me know which ones inspire you.+Adrian Segar +Al Navas  +Alan Stevens  +Alasdair Allan +Alexis Ohanian  +Andrew Horton  +Andy Smith  2012-09-22 14:09:50159114CC G+

Playing Video Games Can Boost Brain Power

Certain types of video games can help to train the brain to become more agile and improve strategic thinking, according to scientists from Queen Mary University of London and University College London (UCL).

Two groups of volunteers were trained to play different versions of a real-time strategy game called StarCraft, a fast-paced game where players have to construct and organise armies to battle an enemy. A third of the group played a life simulation video game called The Sims, which does not require much memory or many tactics.

The researchers discovered that those who played StarCraft were quicker and more accurate in performing cognitive flexibility tasks, than those who played The Sims.

Dr Glass added: "The volunteers who played the most complex version of the video game performed the best in the post-game... more »

Interesting prototype | Eyeglasses that read to the blind (video at link)

"(Phys.org) —A unique pair of eyeglasses developed by an FIU student team could revolutionize the lives of the blind, enabling them to walk into a library or a store, pick up any book or a can of soup, and read it.

The Eyetalk concept, initially conceived for a student competition in social entrepreneurship, has been hailed by venture investors as a potentially breakthrough product that could make a difference for disabled people worldwide. This week, it was recognized as one of 12 semi-finalists in the FIU Track of the Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge."

Computer & Desk Stretches (Approximately 4 Minutes)

Sitting at a computer for long periods often causes neck and shoulder stiffness and occasionally lower back pain. Do these stretches every hour or throughout the day, or whenever you feel stiff. Be sure to get up and walk around the office once in a while. You’ll feel better!

Feel free to share with your family and friends !

Speaking Welsh conclusively linked to brain damage

I gave up Welsh as soon as I was allowed to - at the age of 13, having had it stuffed into me by various bug-eyed, dark-haired, unshaven North Walians from the day I'd started school. I began, belatedly, to learn French and German instead, and struggled to not resent my parents, the school, the Welsh language, Wales, and all the Welsh for hobbling my start in learning useful languages.

+Sarah Hill Hangout with Chester Nez
one of the last surviving members of the original group of
Navajo Code Talkers

They were a small band of warriors who created an unbreakable code from the ancient language of their people and changed the course of modern history.

Known as Navaajo Code Talkers, they were young Navajo men who transmitted secret communications on the battlefields of WWII. At a time when America's best cryptographers were falling short, these modest sheepherders and farmers were able to fashion the most ingenious and successful code in military history. They drew upon their proud warrior tradition to brave the dense jungles of Guadalcanal and the exposed beachheads of Iwo Jima. Serving with distinction in every major engagement of the Pacific theater from 1942-1945, their unbreakable code played a pivotal role in saving... more »

The Best Part Of Google+ Is Hangouts

I agree with +Drew Olanoff's article for the most part. Hangouts are what set Google+ apart from the other networks. It's enabled so many people who want to share, meet, converse, create and publish video to the Web.

I've been on Google+ from the beginning and I'm thrilled to see how many people are using the platform as a whole to promote and create their own content (shows, Podcasts, groups).

But Hangouts aren't the only thing that makes Google+ great. It's the platform in general. Yes there is tons of things that need improvements, but as a whole the Google+ system is pretty robust and strong. And let's not forget the fact that it's GOOGLE+, because of this there is great SEO potential to using the platform.

If you haven't really tried out Google+ connect with me and I'd be... more »
