Dear Google

On Friday July 26th, I will be boarding a flight from London to Beijing with the intention of never returning back to the United Kingdom by anything else other than by foot. 15,000km over the duration of 3 years. No buses  No cars. No taxis. No planes. No nothing. Just my feet. 

I am going to be couch-surfing the entire distance (staying at other peoples houses), whilst doing live Google+ hangouts in every house that I stay at, alongside life-streaming my entire journey over Google+ for the world to follow along and take part.

Although my feet are sore from walking and plagued by an array of blisters that resemble the coloring of a bruised and decaying rose-petal, I feel cryogenically frozen in perpetual state of euphoria. 

I am stuck in limbo, somewhere between happiness and the heavens above. There isn't long left from now until I leave, and I have so much to do, yet so little time. :(

For those of you that haven’t yet heard, I am going to be walking 15,000km from Beijing to London, whilst life-streaming my entire journey over Google+ and doing live Google+ hangouts in every village and city for the entire duration of my walk.

I have been training my arse off lately, and haven't had time to Google+ properly unfortunately. Don't worry though! I am still alive and will get to your messages shortly! There seems to be a lot of them.

Dear friends, family and everyone else that is following the preliminary build-up of my 3-5 year 15,000km walk from Beijing to London.

Yes I am still alive. Nothing has happened to me just yet. (Don’t worry). I know I have been absent from social media for over a month or so, however, life has been difficult lately, I must confess. I have been overwhelmed by a plethora of emotions and psychological problems that have manifested into the very depths of my mind. The pressure was getting to me and I thought I was strong enough. I thought I could do it all on my own. Turned out I couldn't. Turned out I wasn't. I got backlogged and stressed. I had too much to do and so little time. Things where getting heavy. Tough. I am going to make it my goal to help at least 1 person per day during the entire duration of my 3-5 year walk. I think if I can help 1000 people somehow whilst walking from Beijing to London, it would be a great achievement. 1 completely random and completely selfless act of kindness, of humanity. Of love for my fellow man.

One of the things I am going to be doing during my walk from Beijing to London is inviting people to walk with me for specific lengths of time. Maybe an hour or 2, or possible even a day or a week. Who knows yet...

From my friends and family, to my followers and future friends, to locals and just anyone who would like to walk with me. I hope to be able to get as many people involved in my walk as humanly possible.

Whilst I am doing this, I would also like to get people involved online somehow. Any ideas on how I would orchestrate a sort of 'walk a virtual mile with me' event?

I am considering shaving all of my hair off when I leave for Beijing, and then letting all my hair and beard grow for the entire duration of my journey. What do you think? Should I or shouldn't I? No doubt I will end up looking like Jesus.

It has now got to a point where I am waking up to at least 10 messages from naysayers, trolls and perpetual abuse givers, each and every day. A good majority of people tell me I am stupid, tell me it's not possible, personally insult me and attempt to cause me some sort of grief. They tell me I haven't thought it through, that nobody can walk this distance, that I wont make it out of Beijing, that I will get kidnapped, terrorized and possibly arrested. That I will get beat up by locals, raped, tortured by people that hate westerners, etc, etc... This is just the good stuff! The rest is worthless dribble infinitely spewed up by society's fuck-whits.

I plan on keeping all of the troll messages so I can publicize them when I get back home, they should make an interesting read. I have my own voice and it's only me that knows what I am truly capable of. 1 thing to note is, everything... more »

What do you think the best way to get people involved in my walk from Beijing to London online is? I would like to make this journey interactive and as socially connected as possible. I want to be able to sort of bring people with me, from their arm-chairs to their bedrooms, no matter where they are, or what-time it is. I want to get people involved. To take part... Somehow. Couchsurfing 15,000km from Beijing to London - Completely on Foot and Live on Google+

As you probably already know, I am going to be walking from Beijing to London this year, and I am contemplating couch-surfing the entire distance whilst doing Live Google+ Hangouts with every person I meet, in every home, village and city I stay at.

A lot of people seem to asking me if I am crazy due to this walk. The simple answer to that question would be 'Yes', however, I think anything in life that is worth doing takes a little bit of 'craziness'. I am strategically crazy. The good sort of the crazy, not the crazy sort of crazy. Or maybe I am just the crazy type of crazy? Who knows. Only time will tell.

Google Communities Tip

If you are already fed up with the push nature of being invited to communities and want to see what else might be out there, you can do one of the following three things.

1. - Click on the Communities link and join one of the featured communities

2. - Search for a Community by putting in a word in the search box under the images, not the main section. If you want to see a lot type in a single letter so a or b

3. - Go to Google search and type in allinurl:plus.google.com/u/0/communities/ this will then show the communities that Google has indexed and ultimately the better communities will find their way to the top. Anyone who has taken care of Google Authorship will have their picture listed against the community as the owner.
