it's *WORLD IBD DAY* #WorldIBDday  
 i am here to bring awareness to all of you.  
Do you have any questions about my Crohn's Disease or any other IBD {Inflammatory Bowel Disease}?  
IBD is very different from IBS {Irritable Bowel Syndrome},
so please try not to get the two confused.
Millions of people all over the world are affected by this life crippling disease, it's time to get the word out so we can find a cure or at least get a little understanding as to what we go through on a daily basis.  I also want to thank all of you that have reached out to me and to others who struggle with similar issues.

I was full of regret after asking for an assignment from +Jake Johnson:(
He said "+Elizabeth Lund You get my regret assignment. If you could travel back into time and tell a younger you one thing, what would it be. "
This assignment was easy and yet so hard! First off, I have many regrets that I would tell my younger self to NOT do (not that she would have listened) but I finally decided I would try to depict my biggest regret and that would be growing up and becoming entrenched in the food industry.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE food :D
However, working in the industry has been the worst choice I have ever made, especially as I get older. Jobs get harder and harder to find and when I attempted to look for work outside of the industry, no one wants to hire me.

Daytona Beach
It is a little strange to take a digital photo of a film photo . . . but I needed to.
This is a portrait I took of my mother in Daytona Beach on a trip we took there for her birthday. I converted to B&W as the colors were pretty faded.
This is my first Mother's Day without her.
Miss the fun times we had back then . . . wanted to remember her when she was young and full of life!

B-Aware
Last weekend I went for a drive to visit areas of New Mexico that I had not seen for years . . . . wanted to go out to the VLA  (Very Large Array, seen in the movie Contact) but got started too late to drive that far before the sun set!
Another day :)

Spa At Dawn
OK, so the reason I have been MIA so much is that I finally got a job, yay :)
This was shot at dawn on the compound that I work on . . . the bottom level is the spa and the upper floor the offices.
There are also organic herb and vegetable gardens (certified), 3 nursing care buildings and the restaurant where I am a waitress at the Greenhouse Bistro & Bakery in Los Lunas.
The challenging thing is working a split shift, 5 days a week
The only really great thing about having to be to work before sunrise, is a view like this!
P.S. This tree is two grafted together :)

I have no idea what it is . . . flies and moves like a hummingbird but looks like a HUGE moth!
Can anyone help me ID this?

Up Up and Away For your listening pleasure!

WOW . . . hard to know where to start when writing about a life changing and for me, life saving experience! Yes, I did say life saving, let me explain.
In November, I found out I had been accepted into the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers with +Robin Griggs Wood and within the same week I found out my mother was dying. I chose to stay in the program because it gave me a distraction from reality and something positive to focus my thoughts and emotions on through packing, moving cross country and having my mother pass away on Christmas Eve.

An Apple For Our Teacher

I certainly hope that you have been lucky enough to have a teacher like +Robin Griggs Wood come into your life at least once.
I feel fortunate to have had her as my mentor and teacher in the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers :)
I can count on one hand, the people who have had a profound affect on my learning.
Robin is at the top of my list.
Robin is a kind, caring, compassionate and creative person and these traits shine brightly in her mentorship!

Thank you Robin for giving so much of yourself to your students.

The "JOY" of the Scavenger Hunt
Last January was the first +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt I ever participated in. I honestly don't even know how I signed up for it and was shocked when I received my first message from +Chrysta Rae giving me the rules and the list of items I was supposed to shoot.
I only had an 11 year old P&S and had done NO photography for years! However, from day one I met some of the photographers that I had been stalking following that were interacting with me, offering me help and quickly becoming my friends :)
I gained a "family" here on G+ because of Chrysta Rae and the Scavenger Hunt!
I originally shot this for "the color Orange" but decided to use it for "Joy" instead.

The world is full of color and that was what we have been focusing on during the previous 2 weeks in the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers with the awesome +Robin Griggs Wood.
I captured all of mine in Phoenix Arizona in 4 days. The thing that has amazed me over the course of this mentorship is how differently I now see things when looking through the lens of my camera. I was unsure of my talent and skill coming into this mentorship and constantly questioned if I should even bother to continue to take photographs.
I am still learning how to work my camera, how to get my settings right for what I want to capture and how I want the viewer to feel when looking at my work.
