What would be the best practice when you want to do tasks in the background which require the user to be signed in using Google+ Sign-In? The documentation only mentions offline_access when doing the Server-SignIn-Flow? What about server-less apps? +Lee Denison  #android

Just update your #Chrome (ie. go to Settings > Help) and you're good to got. The future begins now :D #google   #voicesearch

So as you all might have heard the new #Hangouts  app is supposed to replace G+ #Messenger and Google Talk. However the latest update of G+ fails to remove the link to the Messenger app (which will now just display a nice message informing you of the change to Hangouts) while adding the new link to Hangouts.

In light of the earlier mess up with the supported Android versions all of this might indicate that they were trying to rush the update. #googleplusupdate

So I found out how to control the LightBar on the front of the Chromebook Pixel.

I wrote a script to emulate the knight rider led effect and I also at one point made it so that the led displayed my Pixels battery life. Alas when the Chromebook goes to sleep the lightbar cannot be updated.

In order to play around with the lightbar your device needs to be in developer mode. 

Once in developer mode drop into a shell and gain root.

There is a cool tool called "ectool" with ectool you can control the lightbar. Here are some examples on how to control it....

ectool lightbar seq stop
ectool lightbar seq run

//run the actual sequence
ectool lightbar seq konami

//stop sequences so you can play with the lightbar
ectool lightbar seq stop

The new Google+ design has been rolled out and it might very well be that GExtend is obsole now. I still have to check with my widescreen displays once I get home (from I/O). But in the meantime I encourage you to disable GExtend (if you have installed it) temporarily and give the new design a spin.
