Fine Art Photography of a World War I Dogfight

I created these fantasy matte paintings with 100% photographic stock.

I first sketched the scene that I wanted to create on paper. From this sketch I created concept art to help me with the element selection. Then I started to look around for the elements to use in the matte painting. Whenever I found something I felt was a potential fit I would photograph it or search for a photo in my (constantly expanding) photography library. Sometimes it would take weeks before I managed to collect all the required elements. Once I had all the elements together it could take another 160+ hours to put it all together. I used Photoshop and also have a Wacom Cintiq which makes the concept art much easier. (Yes I know I could create some elements in software like Maya, Cinema4D, DAZ etc but I wanted to make sure it is all photographic content)

I am about to embark on a journey of making my very first BJD, in a bit of a fashion style. I'll be using polymer clay and will blog the whole process.

I am sharing my current work also to test the album sharing feature for communities.

I have finished my latest #childrensbooks but we received a poor sample print and forced to find a new printer at the last minute.

It is a 42 page picture book with hard cover. We are in Australia but any good references for printers will be appreciated. :)

Introducing Horatio Peppermint and the Springer Wrinkle-Free Wringer

A 40 page children's picture book that took me months to illustrate :)

This is the front cover for my new children's book currently being printed. Yes, it took longer than we planned to setup everything but now we are ready to focus on the last few weeks

Our iPad app should be available sometime in October and the hardcover in November. I am sooooo excited. A lifelong dream coming true :) I illustrated all 40 pages :)

Having some fun. A friend and I went to the Sydney University to photograph the architecture and I created this as a thank you gift. Just for fun.

When I started to learn how to do fantasy matte paintings I needed something to test my skills on. I was heavily inspired by the movie "Pearl Harbor" for the concept and used it to develop my technical skills. The elements in this image include die-cast model airplanes and Royal Australian Navy ships photographed in Sydney.

This is a quick overview: I first sketched the scene that I wanted to create on paper. From this sketch I created concept art to help me with the element selection. On 8 June 2007 the Pasha Bulker ran aground (not shipwrecked) during a storm on Nobbys Beach in Newcastle, NSW - New South Wales, Australia. When we went there to have a look we saw this dynamic rainbow scene - along with 1000's of other 'spectators' - I managed to take this photo. As you can see, a new storm was brewing in the background with 2 striking rainbows while the sun was still shining onto the beach.
