No Spoilers
Saw the new Star Trek - into Darkness movie last night with the Buddha. I LOVED it! Firstly, I loved every second of watching Zachary Quinto's face: his eyes, his lips, his barely there expressions. His lines for comic relief were good and delivered well. And we got to see the young Spock lose his grip on his emotional being a couple of times.
I loved the uniforms ~ all of them. Very cool. Even the Star Fleet dress attire was so crisp .
When it comes to Chris Pine I find him awkward to look at. All that HEAD! lol But he showed much more of his acting skill in this movie than the last, which was nice to see. And he certainly hearkened back to t the original James Kirk in familiar ways a few times throughout the movie. The continuity of character was very convincing.

Because this is my dad and he is glorious! At 85, he still plays boogie woogie like a man whose fingers are possessed! The other guy is my brother.
When I read the comments to dad today that people left he was astounded! And thrilled! So I want to thrill him some more, because this is my Dad. :-)

A student today said he could do a back flip so we went out to he hall to watch him. Fun. One asked if I could do that and I said no, but I can stand on my head. Naturally they all now wanted to see the sub stand on her head. Naturally, I DID!
Next class a girl in the middle of the period, out of the blue, says "Can you stand on your head?" and I say yes. Another student says "How did you know that?" and the girl says "I read it on twitter!" hahaha
And NO I looked nothing like this!

I have been published in two books recently. This one is called Sunday Snaps The Stories ands I really like the description:
This colourful and quirky collection contains short stories, flash fiction, vignettes and poetry of various styles and genres. It developed over the course of 52 weeks in 2010/2011 whereby a series of ‘Sunday Snaps’ were posted online as a creative writing exercise. Writers were invited to use the snapshots as inspirational writing prompts. The result: an eclectic assortment of light-hearted comedy, romance, dark tales, tragedy, slice-of-life stories and expressive verse. Double-blind test of the effects of distant intention (prayers) on water crystal formation.
"A group of approximately 2,000 people in Tokyo focused positive intentions toward water samples located inside an electromagnetically shielded room in California. That
group was unaware of similar water samples set aside in a different location as controls. Ice crystals formed from both sets of water samples were blindly identified and photographed by an analyst, and the resulting images were blindly assessed for aesthetic appeal by 100 independent judges. Results indicated that crystals from the treated water were given higher scores for aesthetic appeal than those from the control water

Quick refresher course in how to be media savvy and think for yourself
Many of us need to learn to de-escalate the language used by the media and each other in order to think objectively about our position. It is all too clear people are lead around by the nose, attached to hyperbole, emotive words, and agenda- based characterization of events ands issues. Because, really, today nearly everyone has an agenda and all writing is persuasive writing ~ Including this.
It is simply a fact of our communication climate. Let's take this recent news and examine it.
Firstly the headline already tells you what to think: That this is an intrusion. While it very well may be, it is only yellow journalism that would state that opinion. It is not fact, in how intend fact to be delivered from media.

TECH HELP
My Mom's PC is totally jammed- no space even to properly function. Disc is too full to defragment! I thought that was weird. I notice, though, there isHard disc drive C (full) and Hard disc drive D - totally empty.
Can I do anything about this? Combine the drives or something?

I read an article by Rex Murphy about how Tim Horton's was once a part of the Canadian cultural experience but now is distanced from people because it is fast becoming merely a "brand". I will tell you how NOT to encourage this trend: by fake greetings.
We are a friendly people already. "Can I take your order" is sufficient because it is real and efficient. Once they started "Hi my name is _. Welcome to Tim Hortons. Can I take your order" it was a huge eye-roll that had the complete opposite effect of making people seem friendly. No one cares about the servers name. We want our coffee.
