"My Island Home" is popularly believed to be a song about Australia. However, it was written by Neil Murray and originally performed by his Warumpi Band in reference to their lead singer's (George Burarrwanga) home up at Elcho Island off the coast of Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.  It was recorded in 1986 and released as a single from their second album, Go Bush in 1987 by Parole Records. It was later covered by Christine Anu in 1995 who had been a backing vocalist in Neil Murray and The Rainmakers during 1992–1993. "My Island Home" won 'Song of the Year' at the 1995 Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA) Awards for Anu's reworked version of the song.   It was also listed in APRA Top 30 Australian songs of all time in 2001. You may have noticed our site going down a lot? We've been having dramas with our current web hosts (terrible support), so we're relocating to a more dependable server! All hands are on deck, and we hope to have our site back online ASAP (from 25mins -  24hrs depending where you are in the world), hopefully faster! Thanks for your patience! :-)

So for our first post in a couple of weeks, we're highlighting an apparent problem in our skies. I admit that my pet hate is when a flight attendant says "hello" on entry to the plane, and they are ignored or get a grunt. Try a "hello" back :-)

The East & West coast are feeling the heat at the moment, which means we have to be "fire aware".  Take note of fire restrictions, listen to local radio or watch Twitter or social media for warnings, be smart & be prepared.  Don't leave kids, people or pets waiting in cars.  Be "sun smart", just because you're cooling off in the water you can still get burnt. Take it easy & be patient.
