I had a final cram session this evening with 4 high school students who are taking the Intermediate #GEPT test (speaking and writing). One of the speech prompts was "What should Taiwan do about the situation with the Philippines?" I hadn't even finished writing it on the board before they were yelling "Fight! "War!"

It made me feel a little sick.

Within two minutes they were talking and moaning about the 2nd trimester test that wrapped up today. I pointed out to them that if their country was going to war (which I don't think they will), why did the test matter?

Jinchung has a big holiday complete with parade on May 21st to celebrate the town god's birthday. All of the temples are practicing and preparing for it. For example, the drummers are practicing right now.

Temple events are all male activities as far as I can see.

This was taken from the sidewalk in front of my building. I teach on the 3rd floor which is kind of hard when this is going on.

If this is true, you should definitely join the American Bushido-kai Karate Association. From baptisms in Oklahoma prisons, to ministry in the slums of Guatemala City, to demos in Cebu, to outreach in closed native reservations in Alaska, to providing housing to widows and orphans in Tulsa, to evangelical karate camps in Bacolod, to mentoring fatherless young people in Taiwan, God is at work through the people of ABKA.

And that long list I just gave is just what I have personally heard about within the last week. So, find yourself the closest ABKA school and join this work!

This is a little experiment with a viola and Glass. I created a song by layering short video loops, improvising melodies, then I pieced it all together into a small orchestra. #throughglass
