BAHK SEON GHI

Korean artist Bahk Seon Ghi creates sculptures from pieces of charcoal suspended from nylon filaments, everyday objects or simple geometric shapes based on sketches made in an apparently architectural approach.

Bahk fascinates his viewers with his large, site-specific installations.
He has created tables, stairs, circles and picture frames, from which some pieces of charcoal seem to escape.
The artist re-interprets mundane objects, presenting them to us in a context disassociated from their real environment.
Apparently floating in a play of light and space, his installations embody the relationship between humans and nature.

Zhang Xiaobai is a talented Chinese illustrator from Beijing, China.
She graduated in Xubeihong Art College of People’s University and since then her choice to pursue her passion in the arts.
The most of Xiaobai’s lovely illustrations are inspired by classical Chinese women, and each illustration tells a beautiful, sometimes emotional story.
She often includes tattoos on her women who are drawn in a style mixed of realism and manga (less sharp lines, more detail).

Following the Guinness World Record breaking success of its 2009 Live Young “Roller Babies” ad, Evian is back again with a new dancing babies ad campaign, “Baby and Me.”
The ad has gone viral and received more than 30 million YouTube views in five days.

The ad video titled “Baby and Me,” shows adults looking into a store mirror and seeing a baby version of themselves reflecting their facial expressions. The adults begin dancing to Yuksek’s remix of Ini Kamoze’s “Here Comes the Hotstepper” (from the 1990s) while their “inner infant” in the mirror reflects their complicated adult dance moves.

Mamika by Sacha Goldberger

A few years ago, French photographer Sacha Goldberger found his 91-year-old Hungarian grandmother Frederika feeling lonely and depressed.
To cheer her up, he suggested that they shoot a series of outrageous photographs in unusual costumes, poses, and locations.
Grandma reluctantly agreed, but once they got rolling, she couldn't stop smiling.

Frederika was born in Budapest 20 years before World War II.
During the war, at the peril of her own life, she courageously saved the lives of ten people. When asked how, Goldberger told us “she hid the Jewish people she knew, moving them around to different places every day.”
As a survivor of Nazism and Communism, she then immigrated away from Hungary to France, forced by the Communist regime to leave her homeland illegally or face death.

Some facts & figures about pit stops:

Anything between 2 and 3 seconds is considered a good pit stop.

Since January 2013, our pit stop crew has performed more than 500 training pit stops.

The crew practices pit stops for 45 minutes every Thursday prior to a race.

Another 20-30 minutes of pit stop practice follows on Friday.

On Sunday morning, some 4-6 ‘warm-up’ pit stops areperformed.

The Urban Art team Low Bros consists of two brothers, Qbrk and Nerd, born in Hamburg, northern Germany.
They’re currently based in Hamburg and Berlin.
When they where children the two brothers loved to draw and invented their own little stories and fantasy worlds while playing in the backyard or being on the countryside.
You’ll still find both influences, the urbanic and natural in their works today.

Belgian born Bruno Vergauwen started his career from an early age.
Painting, drawing and sculpturing with his father resulted in him being surrounded by art from an early childhood.

After his studies he started working at an Advertising agency where he worked for 10 years.

Here's a shot that I was lucky enough to take last fall.  Believe it or not, it's a single exposure taken in Cedar Key, Florida.  This sailboat remains docked throughout the year; however when the tide is low, it becomes stuck in the sand.  I timed this shot so that the Milky Way would be directly overhead at low tide, allowing for this surreal scene to emerge.  Camera info is Canon 5d Mark ii, 17mm, f4.0, 30sec, ISO2500.  Thanks for looking and feel free to share!!

As I started getting into photography, I knew from the beginning, that I wanted to get into timelapsing. So over the past few years I started collecting timelapses from various locations. No plan in mind, just shooting when I felt like it. It this point I just wanted to get a better feeling and understanding for it all. I was learning and will always be learning photography. So I wanted to touch up my skills before jumping right into timelapsing. As I am now starting to invest in a track, I realized it is finally time to put together my first edit of all my previous work. Enjoy.

Born in February of 1982, Berlin based painter Daniela Uhlig creates some of the most beautiful comic-inspired art, occasionally using traditional painting tools, but mostly using photoshop to shape and breathe life to her images.

On the Edge of Mordor, Hawaii

BEST VIEWED LARGE - You should be able to see the subtle intricate details in the Lava as well as the highlights.

We were incredible lucky to have wandered to the Edge of Mordor and back on Big Island of Hawaii. The lave has just started going into the ocean two days before we arrived and on our second visit an inflation cycle in the Volcano cause more than normal lava flow into the ocean. I wanted to capture the essence of what it was like when photographing the lava at Twilight.

How was this image created?
This is an manually blended image using our iHDR manual blending workflow. The sea floor and steam is lit by the light from the lava stream. While the sky is showing of the last glow from the setting sun. One of the biggest challenges was to dealing with the thermals caused by the heat around the lava streams. Camera's... more »

Lensbaby Lights (A View from Mori Tower, Roppongi Hills)

I joined +Trey Ratcliff's Tech Talk and Networking Event held at Google Japan Headquarters in Roppongi Hills. An interesting thing is that a lot of the attendees (including me) were enthusiastically taking photos of the view from the cafe space of Google's office during the networking event, almost forgetting about networking.

David M. Cobb and I had THE best time on our first Palouse workshop last weekend, although 4 hours of sleep per night had everyone looking like zombies with SLRs by the end. I was impressed with the all talent and creativity in our group and I'm looking forward to seeing their images. 

Late season rain made for some of the best air quality I have seen in the Palouse. This is a classic late evening scene from high on Steptoe Butte.

This week David and I are exploring the Hell's Canyon region of NE Oregon before returning to the Palouse for another workshop next weekend.
