It probably surprises no one I have been busy as hell lately. I'm working on writing books, New Me just released her second title. (If you want to know who New Me is, the details are all on facebook.)

Yeah, about facebook.  I know. But, here's the deal with facebook: I can engage as little or as much as I need to each day. I have the freedom and ability to limit my usage to what I need each and every day.

For whatever reason, I just don't get that with Google+. It's not that I think G+ is a ghost town. It's not. There are a great number of folks here, really great folks. Folks I miss talking to. But, here's the thing.

I have gmail open all the time. I can't post to G+ from gmail. If I could, I'd post little updates all of the time. When I hop on G+, I tend to get sucked in reading things, commenting, etc. The "I can come and go as In... more »

Crowdfunding Update for Coloring Book & Print Titles:

I've been doing a lot of work on the coloring book for my indiegogo campaign. Instead of traditional perks, I'm putting my art to work, doing something I enjoy partnered with something others enjoy: coloring!

$10 gets the collection of coloring pages. Here's where you can check out more about the campaign: http://igg.me/at/witch-and-wolf-in-print/x/2198204

Right now, the campaign is at 36% funded, which has me super, super excited. I've already booked my cover artist for the work, and I'm really excited to be getting these books back into print. Really, really excited. I mean really excited.

I'm going the expanded distribution route, so hopefully they can sneak their way into libraries and things like that. That would really make me happy.

Anyway, any... more »

Holly Heisey is absolutely amazing as always. At the end of the month, I'm hoping to release a book called Karma. I've always loved thrillers--I can't watch television because anxiety, but I adore books like Patriot Games, Hunt for Red October, and I grew up on procedural mysteries my grandmother used to read.

Karma is my playing hard and loose with the real world of investigations, making it a thriller, and throwing in the supernatural.

Karma Johnson has spent her entire adult life working to become a member of FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team. She's earned her transfer to CARD, but when she's caught up in the kidnapping of an infant from a festival, she learns what it's like to be the victim. Pretending she's a teen keeps her alive while trying to get herself and the newborn to safety.

But the kidnapping only scratches at the surface of a far more nefarious scheme, one that will test Karma's skills, her patience, her sanity, and her beliefs.

This novel will be releasing later in the month. It wasn't included in any indiegogo perks, so watch this space for more information--or subscribe to my mailing list for more information. Every time I send a newsletter, I also include a short story or novella exclusive to the list. (In the future, the far future, once I have at least 150,000 words of novellas and stories, I will release them on either my website or amazon or something. That future is at least a year down the road.)

I picked a tentative release date for Shadowed Flame: May 16!

That's also my birthday.

I'll also be doing a free book promotion for the first two novels of the original Witch & Wolf series, and a $0.99 countdown deal for the third novel of the series.

So, not only will I have a new book release, you can get some free books if you don't already have copies.

It's going to be fun, so join me for the release and some birthday shenanigans. :3

After a long/tiring two months, the end of the indiegogo campaign is here: there are five hours left! The campaign, at time of this posting, has reached 63% funding, which is super duper and absolutely amazing.

Thank you all so much for your help. There's still a little bit of time to get in on the action. Pack Justice, one of the featured novels in the campaign, releases next week.

$10 will land you a digital copy of my coloring book, which will feature 50 pages of art for you to print and color, including at least one page of bookmark patterns.

$30 will get you the coloring book and digital copies of all the titles featured in the campaign.

$50 will let you take home one of the original line art pages.

Less than 2 days left! Like coloring books? Enjoy books? (Hell, like me?) This crowdfund is to help offset the costs of bringing some of my older titles into print--and help get some newer ones into print, including W&W #4, Silver Bullet!

One of the upcoming W&W titles, Pack Justice, should be releasing within the next week or two, so the first of the ebook perks will be fulfilled shortly after the campaign ends.

A little over 50% funded. Should a miracle happen and the campaign fully funds (~$900 left to go!), all contributors receiving a $10+ perk will receive a copy of KARMA, the first book of a new W&W spinoff series, which will (hopefully) release by the end of April!

Dependent on availability, contributors of the unsigned and signed book perks will also receive original sketches of the coloring book art. I need to get rid of them because of an international move, so here's your chance to get an even better deal.

Bonus Perk: I will be including sumi-e styled paintings into the signed edition perks, as I need to get rid of them for the move. (These are surprise paintings, so contributors will have no idea what they're getting. I will give away as many of these paintings as I happen to find around my house while I'm cleaning.)

The coloring book will release within a week or three of the conclusion of the campaign, and will include approximately 50 pages of art. Only catch, you have to print it out! (Mix of for adults and for kids, majority fantasy art, but will also include flowers and things like that.)

Thanks so much for your support!___

These two paintings are for sale. 9x11 inches. The pale blue one is watercolor, india ink, and acrylic. The dark blue one is acrylic.

If interested, contact me. (I'm totally willing to roll the paintings into an indiegogo perk if you're interested in helping the campaign and get a painting at the same time.) I'm trying to get rid of some things from the house, and I like both paintings too much to just toss them out.

Hopefully releasing next week! (A note to epub readers below the blurb.)

Sean’s guardian angel is a feline, but his spirit cheetah prefers rival defense attorney, Andrea Morgan, over him. Trapped in a failing, dangerous marriage and stalked by an accomplice of one of the most dangerous criminals he’s ever prosecuted, Sean’s troubles are just beginning.

A vacation should have offered him a chance to save his relationship with his wife, Idette. Instead, Sean learns he isn’t the only one with a secret, and his discovery of his wife’s true nature should have killed him.

To ensure Sean’s survival, his cheetah strikes a bargain with a wolf. Faced with life-long enslavement to his wife, becoming an instrument of pack justice seems like a better alternative.

Unfortunately, pack justice is as brutal as it is swift, and should Sean fail to put an end to Idette’s machinations, everything he values will be targeted and destroyed, including his chance to be with the one woman who might be able to help him salvage the ruins of his life.

There's only one way to currently get any of my books as an epub, and that's through my indiegogo campaign. Pack Justice is releasing next week, so if you use an epub reader and want in on the action, consider taking a look at it.

The campaign ends in three days.

A non-blog based post for once. That's right, it's my 'State of the Blain' address for the Google plussers!

When the day comes I'm not really busy, you'll probably be the first to know... but since you're probably sick about me whining about writing, here's some random things:

I have typed so many words the past year I had to buy a new apple keyboard because some critical keys started to show sign of breaking down. I wrote the novels I had written on the back of the keyboard, and there were eight of them. Yeah.

It basically cost me $6.25 per novel on that keyboard. I usually blow through a keyboard within three to six months and only get two out of one keyboard, so I'm really happy. I'm so happy I bought the same exact model of keyboard. It has #2 written on the back. It hasn't completed a novel yet, but it's getting... more »

I've been cleaning in earnest. My kitchen is nearing completion. I've been ditching things we don't want, cleaning out cupboards, and so on.

Husband and I are making a list of things that count as "treasures, unnecessary" and "we can't live without."

If it falls under the treasures category, we take two passes at it. If we feel we can live without the item, it either gets junked or rehomed.

I've thrown out a LOT of stuff the past few days.

In other news... uhm... actually, I don't really have other news.

I'm lame :(___

I will be putting together a mailing list ( http://eepurl.com/WxaM5 )  for new release updates. Each update will include a short story (or novella) for subscribers. The mailing list will be the only way to get access to these short stories for a year+. (Once I have a full anthology worth of shorts, I'll release them on amazon.)

So, if you want to check out these short stories, subscribe to my mailing list--at least that way, you get a little bit of fiction along with the notifications I've released a new book. :)

Stories featured in the newsletter will typically be Witch & Wolf or Requiem related. However, there will be random other short stories, either science fiction or fantasy in nature.

General update and things:

I'm back in the writing saddle after finishing off two drafts. I don't know how long it'll take me to finish the draft of the book I'm currently working on; unlike PACK JUSTICE, which I did a lot of plotting work on in a notebook, SHADOWED FLAME has pretty much zero outlining, and I'm letting this story go where it will.

KARMA was very much off-the-cuff as well, and the ending of book one caught me by surprise; I need to figure out the series name for her story, as it will very probably span more than two books.

Karma and Jake have a lot of story in them as a pairing--added bonus of short stories and novellas from before / after the first book, too. I'm going to gather short stories into collections and make case files for those and release anthologies, mainly because I want to write out some of the referenced back stories in the first book.

This will be the first time I've used the main characters name as a book title, but KARMA fits so well about the nature of the book, the character, and so on. Book two will be called LICENSE TO KILL, which fits really well.

Once I finish off these three Witch & Wolf spin offs, I'll be working on my pseudonym novels for a while.

So, release schedule:

I'm looking for the next 1-2 months for new two Witch & Wolf novels:

PACK JUSTICE (which is now a book 1 of a series, cover will be adjusted once I figure out the series name. Not sure on number of books yet, but at least 2.) PACK JUSTICE is with my editor now.

KARMA is book 1 of a series, and will be with my editor as soon as we're finished with PACK JUSTICE.

I'm currently working at finishing SHADOWED FLAME, so I'm expecting 2-3 months for its release.

PACK JUSTICE and SHADOWED FLAME will be available as part of my indiegogo campaign.

IF the campaign funds, all contributors receiving a digital anything (ebooks, coloring book, whatever.) will receive a digital copy of KARMA in epub, mobi, and pdf formats.

http://igg.me/at/witch-and-wolf-in-print/x/2198204

That's pretty much all going on with me, except for 7 PDFs worth of immigration documents husband needs to process his visa. The lawyers had to split the main document up into 7 documents. It's a horror show, and I've developed a whole new level of anxiety over it.

P.S.: The US government wants addresses for my husband through 1993. He doesn't even know some of them. This will be interesting.___

I've been really quiet the past two weeks. Why?

I wrote a book, start to finish. That takes lots of time, and I kinda didn't sleep very much for very long (or even very well.) But, I really love this book I've written.

Deliberating title. Editor loves it. It'll be edited after editor is done with Pack Justice. Expect 2 Witch & Wolf books in the next 2-3 months.

P.S.: New book I just wrote is book 1 of a new series in the Witch & Wolf world.

If my indiegogo campaign fully funds, all contributors will get a ebook copy of this book, no matter which perk level they select. Because I like this book that much. (It introduces a new shifter type to the Witch & Wolf world!)

I've been really busy lately, so I haven't had a lot of time to update my Google+. Sorry! Here's a recap of everything I've been doing lately.

1: Husband visited California, returned alive!

I totally get separation anxiety when my spouse goes away, especially when it's a week-long trip, like the one he took last week to work at the Apple office in Cupertino. (He works in the Results Way building.)

He survived, came home, all is well in the world.

2: Separation anxiety results in an insane number of words.

I averaged 10,000 words per day the entire time he was gone with the exception of the day he left; I was conceptualizing a novel idea, which doesn't translate to written words.

Because of my anxiety issues, I decided to work on a new project to blow steam. It worked out really well; new project is 70,000 words long... more »

Because of my anxiety issues, I decided to work on a new project to blow steam. It worked out really well; new project is 70,000 words long now, and I started it Tuesday. Yeah, 10,000 words a day average.

I focused all of my negative energy into something positive for a change. It kept me sane. Actually, I'm pretty proud of myself.

3: I played around with one of my art pieces and added a border.

The dragon below was submitted to a coloring book producer for a dragon-themed coloring book. No idea if it'll get accepted, but it's for a non-exclusive publication, so I can use the image for my indiegogo. Here's hoping!!

This is definitely one of my favorite line art pieces, and I will be adding more fancy borders to pieces for the indiegogo. If you like coloring books and want to get a majorly good steal on pages, $10 will get you 50 printable coloring book pages. Considering you can buy a single page on etsy for upwards of $2.50... it's a good deal. Especially when you can get cute dragons like the one below. There are pictures with a range of difficulty, so there's something for those who like coloring with crayons and those who like detail work for pencils.

You can get the perk here: http://igg.me/at/witch-and-wolf-in-print/x/2198204

4: House cleaning stuff & moving

Slowly but surely making small steps of progress. Nothing really new on this front.

5: I'm high on coffee.

I didn't get enough sleep last night so I'm totally whacked out on coffee right now.

Since I've been writing so much... everything else has been quiet.

Back to the fray! I'll try to be a little more frequent with posts.___

AJ Aalto is the author of one of my favorite series of books (although I'm kinda not talking to Harry right now) and one of my favorite elements in her stories is Marnie's love of frogs--it's something we share.

Being serious, if you like a badmouthed heroine with a wicked (yet charming) sense of humor and a thrills and chills urban-styled fantasy, this isn't your normal vampire story, and it's a refreshing change from what's out there. Check out her books here: http://www.amazon.com/AJ-Aalto/e/B005OKSXW8

Anyway, onto the picture:

Mark Batten's glorious defacing of Marnie's frogs makes me smile all of the time, sometimes at random. (Marnie and Batten make me giggle.)

And in other news, I'm working on a map for a reader/friend/fan person. This is about an hour-hour and a half in.

Yes, that's the feather quill I'm using to draw the entire thing. Yes, it is the map from the Requiem for the Rift King series.

Once finished, I will produce a very limited number of prints of the maps. Probably will attach to the crowdfund for simplicity.

This is another image that will be available as a perk in the digital coloring book for my indiegogo crowdfund.

There will be 50+ images in the coloring book, and they'll typically fall into one of the following categories:

Mythical Beasties
Flowers
Birds & Animals

The complete coloring book can be found in the $10 perk level.

Yep, my life right now totally involves drawing birds, animals, flowers, and mythical beasties, writing, writing, writing, and kinda trying to procrastinate moving stuff and panicking about it. Fun!

You can find out more info on the campaign here: http://igg.me/at/witch-and-wolf-in-print/x/2198204

It's actually to pay for the print versions of my books, but let's face it... coloring book printouts are far more hands on and entertaining >.>;

I have been up to a lot of things lately, and one of those things is bringing my witch & wolf books back into print.

Yeah, I know. Some of you have you asking for a long time. Well, I've been in talks with my cover artist, +Holly Heisey, and we've been able to hammer out a deal to get the print covers done. She's also going to be (in the future) updating typography on some covers and whole new covers on some of the others. Exciting, huh?

As many of you know, I've done crowdfunding before. My perks are usually unusual, but this time, I'm taking it in a totally different direction. While there are limited numbers of physical perks, everything is digital. Primarily, coloring pages I've drawn and inked. The finals will be scanned and cleaned up so they can be printed at leisure.

Yeah, those pictures below are examples of the art, taken as photos with my ipad. There will be a minimum of 50 coloring pages for people to print out and enjoy.

There are also perks for ebook versions of books, signed copies, and unsigned copies--limited numbers of these, though.

So, if you're interested in having a look, check out the campaign here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-bring-the-witch-wolf-novels-back-into-print/x/2198204#/

If you like coloring books and want in on the pages, the perk that includes them is $10. There are no physical versions of the coloring book, but you can buy the original art.

And that's what I have been doing lately. Keep being awesome, Google+!

It probably surprises no one I have been busy as hell lately. I'm working on writing books, New Me just released her second title. (If you want to know who New Me is, the details are all on facebook.)

For whatever reason, I just don't get that with Google+. It's not that I think G+ is a ghost town. It's not. There are a great number of folks here, really great folks. Folks I miss talking to. But, here's the thing.

It's all or nothing, and with my work schedule, it's been a lot more nothing than all.

So, a big post with updates here and there is how I have to roll at the moment. Friends can still message me on the hangouts thing. I check that frequently. I do see messages when I'm pinged. (And I usually even pursue them, if they're from real people and not spammers. I get a lot of spam on G+. I mean, a lot.)

So, here's the quick and dirty update:

1: New Me released a novel on Tuesday. Yay, go New Me!
2: I'm going to be releasing omnibus print editions of Witch & Wolf books 1-3 and Requiem books 1 & 2. I've already been talking to my cover designer about it. New Me's books 1-3 will get the same treatment. This will be happening as I have the funds. Each cover will cost me between $250-$550, so I have to be careful with my spending on them. (Yeah, I've been considering an indiegogo/kickstarter to pay for the new print editions, but I chicken out each time. Why? Because I just don't have the umph to promote the thing like it needs, and I don't know how many people want to pay the $ required to get them in print.)

Pride also says "I want to do well enough to get these in print under my own steam. Yeah. That's a problem sometimes--or not.

3: Moving to California. Husband's visa was approved, eh?!

4: Bunch of W&W standalone novels are in the works, New Me's 3rd book will be in the works soonish, too.

5: If you're eligible to nominate for the hugos and wanted to make my life, contact me for the titles I have that are eligible. Honestly, New Me's first book is the one that's been getting some interesting attention. Because life-goal, eh?

6: I'm really tired and quit sugar. Yeah. I quit sugar, and I fucking succeeded at it. Suck that, sugar. Suck it hard. Suck it like the bitch you are, sugar. I beat you this time.

I'm not 100% sugar free, but I am 3 weeks in and I drank coffee black this morning and it tastes weird. I drink water with lime cut into it now as my go-to drink.

7: Hi. I'm still alive, I'm just crazy busy. How are you?

8: P.S.: Shiny cover is shiny.___

I've been taking it easy for a bit; just got done the second book of New Author's series, which is a huge load off.

I"m taking the next bit to hop and skip between projects and otherwise have fun. I have a 1k per day minimum I'm sticking to while preparing to move to California. (Yay!)

Dunno when the next book from either author will be out, but I am working on the W&W standalones. I'm also starting to do the background work on The Tides of War (Requiem #3.) That book will take me a long time to finish, though, but that's okay.

I have a lot of ambitious goals for this year, but I'll see how it goes after I get moved to California.
