Do you hate animated GIF's? My somber visit to 9/11 Memorial
I was just looking at my vacation photos from yesterday and Google+ showed me this set which it automatically converted into an animated GIF.
I used Google Glass to shoot it, took something like seven images very quickly by pushing the camera button on top of the glass while not moving. I was just standing up. Turns out your head is a very good stable platform for photography.
It's interesting to see the kind of vitriol that animated GIFs cause. But I like them a lot and it's one MAJOR differential from Facebook. I guess if you don't like them, Facebook is a good alternative.
But I do wish they had some controls. For instance, I wish they would only run for 15 seconds and then stop animating.

Like many of you, I've been pretty amazed by the sometimes subtle (and sometimes stunning) magic of Google+ Photos Auto Enhance. It's one thing to watch this demo'd with other people's photos, and quite another to appreciate it on your own photos.

The name of James Bond's boss, played by Judi Dench and always referred to as "M," has never been revealed. Until now.
A blogger stopped the DVD of Skyfall on a specific frame from a scene shot in M's office featuring a box addressed from M to Bond. Zooming in on the box, you can see the words "From the Estate of Olivia Mansfield Bequeathed to James Bond."

Hitherto, both Facebook and Google+ limited your photos to 2048 pixels across. This was depressing to me and other photographers that take HUGE photos, many of mine over 7000 pixels across. I share a new, original-sized photo here every day on the blog, and all my work is Creative Commons Noncommercial.
Basically, I want people to have the original-sized photo to enjoy! I know many other photographers disagree with me and they only want to share tiny images with huge watermarks using horrible fonts. That’s okay. This isn’t for them.
But if you’re like me, and you want to upload the original size images to Google and also share on Google+, well now you can!

You can pop in any query and see spikes over time and geography across Web Search, News and Images. Now we’re adding YouTube searches, so for the first time you can explore the videos people have been searching for since 2008.

At first this was intended to be one of our first premium features (if you haven't heard it yet, we are planning on a premium section), but we decided to make it a free feature for 3 reasons :

#2 we are using the new G+ Sign In button and all the new possibilities that come with it, so we wanted to show you that we are still on the edge and try to be one of the first people to implement this button usefully.
