Alright fellow audio type people and generic computer geeks, I have a desk full of devices with eighth inch headphone jacks for audio out and one pair of speakers on this desk.  I want an inconspicuous but decent quality "mixer/switch" to connect four or five devices' inputs into and set individual volume levels from.

Having spent way too much time doing actual mixing, and owning a nice multi-channel multi-input Yamaha system for my livingroom I'm feeling left out in the small speaker desktop arena and feel like something must exist to fill this niche.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?  Actual products?

Central Indiana Resistance agent ViciousOrca ( +Kenny Fox ) designed and executed one of the most impressive pieces of field art I have ever seen.
This was done overnight. This is actual fields created in game.
Just to clarify, I did not make this amazing piece of art. I am just sharing it with all of you. All credit goes to Kenny. Say hi to him in comm.

I finally completed the fantastic and emotionally draining Heavy Rain last weekend.  I almost feel the need to start over and get a different outcome, partly because I let one of my characters die part way through.  What a great game ... can't wait for Beyond: Two Souls.

Maybe I should finish Two Worlds 2 now.

I'm a geek -- I know, that's not news to any of you who know me -- but it means I've been on the Internet a lot longer than many people and quite often those of us who've been doing this a while wish the new people had the same experience we do.

Running across this old document gave me a smile http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-run-netiquette-guide-01 ... its the (somewhat tongue in cheek) draft guidelines for etiquette on the Internet.  Ironically its quite relevant in the Facebook era despite being written almost twenty years ago.

Have a browse if you care, or not ... but its got some good information in it on how to behave online.

Just to place myself amidst those of you who are even more experienced, I was doing Internet installations and training in 1994 and fondly remember Windows 95 including a TCP/IP stack so I could stop installing Trumpet... more »

I remember last time when RIM (as they were called at the time) promised us BBM on Android.  I thought it was a pretty good idea and a great way to earn money without supporting devices.  Of course, that was years ago and it never materialized.

Got sent a quiz from a vendor (Fluke) about TCP/IP and scored less than 100% ... until I went back and looked at their "correct" answers and disagreed.

If you're going to offer a quiz to your (potential) customers to purportedly brag about your own abilities, at least make sure your data is perfectly correct.

Just remembered to go online and pre-order my copy of either of the collector's editions of +Naughty Dog's upcoming sensation The Last of Us and can't find it anywhere on #EBGames  here in Canada.  It seems the version with the cool statue is sold out according to http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/07/the-last-of-us-post-pandemic-edition-sold-out/ but I wanted the one with the hard cover art book more anyway.

Breakfast time...

Eggs broken but not mixed up, topped with fresh ground black white and green pepper and Hungarian paprika.  Bacon fried in Frank's Red Hot sauce (I ran out of Extra Hot the other day) placed on top of egg and cheese on each an everything bagel for my daughter and an English muffin for me.

Discussion point: at what point has a person forfeit their right to live?

Assume for a moment that people all have a right to live in the first place (if you disagree, this is the wrong thread for you).   Also note this is about life as in being alive, not necessarily liberty or happiness or enjoyment of life, just being alive.

Classic examples include murderers and treason.

What about property violations (such as some states in the US) or theft?  How about ignorance or idiocy?  Failure to recognize the authority of the system?  Is it possible that nothing forfeit's one's right to life?

Just watched the first episode of Defiance ... not sure if I like it or not yet.  I swung between enjoyment and tolerance the whole time.  Some of the acting is good, some of the concepts are good, but a lot of them feel like they're ripped out of a tactical video game concept, not a TV series.  On which note, its no surprise an MMO is being co-created with the show.

I'll watch another episode at least ... to see where its going.

Now that +Shawna Mac has blocked me for disagreeing with her quite rationally in this post that you can see but I no longer can: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106956977736353271405/posts/Y6ygA1LhsvA I can only state for those who link back to my profile that at no point did I defend sexual predators.  I only stated that the methods used in the article should be considered within the wider context of societal behaviour and since most of us wouldn't want it done for other reasons, we shouldn't do it to those released from prison either.

Blocking people because you disagree with them is incredibly immature, especially when you talk about them afterward.

Also, I did read the article, and I'm not the only one who thinks we should stop the fear mongering about people who are done their prison sentences and leave them alone unless they commit actual crimes again.
