I like the new layout of Google+ very much. It's getting better all the time.
But one disadvantage is that I no longer can see who the new members of this community are.

For the Blur-theme I experimented with zooming while shooting with a relatively long exposure.
So these are "Dandelioooonnnnns"
Not the best pictures I have ever made, but suitable for the theme.
I hope to shoot some more.

De laatst toegevoegde wandeling op Wandelen Rond Roden is een stadswandeling in Assen.
Een leuke wandeling in een kleinschalige en groene stad.
Goed te doen, ook als het wat regent.
Misschien even het Drents Museum bezoeken tussendoor?
Morgen wordt het mooier weer, dan zijn de andere routes op http://wandelenrondroden.nl ook leuk om te doen.

Nr 1: Daniel Thorpe - Fire and Ice (19 points)
Ina: I really like the colors contrasts between fire and ice. The closed location is very well chosen, great to see the sparkles bounce! Very good series!
Fokko: A well deserved winner. Daniel has thought out very well how he wanted his lightpainting to be and he picked a very interesting location. The big icy waterfall adds to the specialty of the scene. This must have taken some practice.

The theme for August will be Fences & Benches.
I'm not sure if the Triptych theme (July) is a good choice.

Presentatie van onze nieuwe website Wandelen Rond Roden met mooie wandelroutes rond de regio kop van Drenthe en Westerkwartier in Groningen.

Onze nieuwe website met wandelroutes in de omgeving rond Roden staat online. Er staan nu 12 wandelroutes en 1 fietsroute op, dat zal verder worden uitgebreid.
Ook is er veel informatie over de regio te vinden.
De website bestrijkt een gebied van ongeveer 30 kilometer rond Roden, van Groningen tot Assen en van het Westerkwartier tot Eelde-Paterwolde en binnenkort ook Bakkeveen.
Neem eens een kijkje en zoek een mooie route uit.

Ik heb een nieuwe website online gezet met wandelroutes in de wijde omgeving rond Roden.
Van Groningen tot Assen, door het Westerkwartier in de provincie Groningen en door Noordenveld en meer gemeentes in de kop van Drenthe.
De website zal gaandeweg worden aangevuld met nieuwe routes van zowel korte als lange afstand.

Onze nieuwe website staat online!
Mooie wandelroutes in de omgeving van Roden in de kop van Drenthe.
Van Groningen tot Assen, in Westerkwartier en Noordenveld en in de drie noordelijke provincies: zowel in Drenthe als Groningen (een deel van Friesland wordt nog toegevoegd).

This was taken in Saul churchyard, where apparently St Patrick built his first church in Ireland, a beautiful place day or night!
f/4.0, 30 sec exp, ISO 400. I set the camera on the tripod, shutter release time of 10 seconds, then I ran behind the gravestone, fired the flash behind the gravestone, then painted light on the ground with a torch.

How are you doing for the Lightpainting theme?
There's one week left to upload to the Lightpainting category in our Photothemes community.
I think the Event can be skipped, that's not necessary and is only double work.
So upload your best lightpainting pictures in the coming days (until April 30). After that the jury will decide who the winners are.

A little forestwalk in the Sterrenbos (Starwoods). This form was ideal for hunting. From the middle of the forest the hunted wild was visible very well and could easily be shot.
Not now anymore.
The three deer we saw are safe.

Pollen covered caterpillar. We have been invaded by these the past week. Can't walk a foot without seeing one. I couldn't get a full clear shot as it kept grabbing my lens. So, I thought this would be perfect for the Blur theme.

Because voting is now done by a jury, the results take somewhat longer to be presented.
In the meanwhile: the Lightpainting theme (April) has started (http://blog.fokkio.nl/light-painting-photo-assignment/) and a new theme for July is announced: Triptych (http://blog.fokkio.nl/triptych-photoassignment/)
The Photothemes community continues as usual. But voting is off. The winners will be decided by a jury for futurethemes too. More information follows later.

(PS: I'm thinking of a good way to organize the themes only on Google+, instead of both on G+ and my website. But having it only on G+ has some disadvantages, for example: a nice overview of the submitted pictures is missing).

As many of you may have noticed the voting on the spreadsheet has gone in a strange way.
The purpose of voting is that the best picture(s) will receive the greatest number of votes because everyone votes for their favorites.
When it happens that there are 9 persons that vote for all three pictures of one and the same person, it is obvious that voting has not been done in an honest way.
The person who this concerns should think of how this is for the other participants. They have taken the time to make beautiful pictures too and they have taken the time to vote too.
If the votes are counted like they are now, all the other participants could have saved themselves the trouble to do all that.
I am a great proponent of an honest system where all participants are satisfied with.
So I have three options to democratically choose from.
