A great artist and friend has opened up a class for learning digital painting . He does fantastic photo realistic work .I highly recommend the class . Not sure if it's in english . But maybe you could use Google translation if you don't speak Spanish ;-)
Rough Google Translation from the site ;" In the online course introduction to digital painting will have the opportunity for a great artist in both traditional and digital media, as is Alberto Perucha , we enter into this exciting world, sharing his experience in two fabulous master classes, and teaching us techniques and tricks to start making our first works of art from scratch . Ideal both for those who have no experience with these tools and want to start, and for those who have some knowledge but want to deepen and enhance your artistic side, learning from an artist and teacher in the middle.
Moreover, the art his... more »

I'm still a bit confused by deviantart's layout ! I hate it ! I'm not sure how your supposed to go directly to the free stock photos . Other than a convoluted search . If anyone knows how you go directly to free stock photos there clue me in . Isn't there a group or section for it ? I know they have a separate website that has stock photos but I'm looking for their on site free stock sets .

Thanks for the invite ! ;-) My oil painting called Chivalry A Magpie like bird flirtatiously picks up a feather dropped by a Cockatoo . While another bird gets jealous .A love triangle the Magpie is trying to woo the Cockatoo . While the parrot gets all in a fuss ! ;-) The feather represents Chivalry ( like handing back a dropped handkerchief )
Acrylic black and white under painting with color oil over glaze .About 24x36 inches?
Bought by a professional artists wife who got tire of waiting for her husband to paint a bird picture for her ( ironic considering the story in the painting ;-) The artist was very good would have liked to see what his bird painting would have looked like in comparison to mine . The buyer had several large tropical birds . One of which she placed on my arm . A huge amazon parrot . I said something about hoping he's not a biter . She said something like ... more »

Diogo Santos has been promoted to moderator ! Moderators have about the same abilities as the host or founder of the group which would be Stephanie ;-) But here we mostly make decisions as a group . So it's best to ask around before making decisions that effect the group as a whole . At least ask Stephanie ;-)
Moderators are picked by interactivity with the group . Whether they are here most of the time and how personable they are . How much they provide help to others. So if you are not a moderator yet it is just a matter of being helpful present and friendly ;-)
So welcome Diogo Santos to the team ;-)

OK, I can't wait to get my hands on this tool- free-hand sculpting in the air, using just a large pen-shaped tool? wow, crazy. still some time left to get in on the kickstarter funding and get your hands on one before they're in full production.

This is my steps to completion of the water image . The first step was just sketching the lines , shapes on the most predominant color blue ( inverted to orange ) . I used a grid to make it easier ( grid not shown ) no other measurements except for the size of the frame . Both the original and the final piece were the exact same size . So everything was even including the grid . The colors were taken from samples via the eyedropper selection tool . About a dozen samples . I also used more samples of color as I went . The whole thing was done in inverted color ( not seen here ) .Maybe I should have shown it that way but I thought it would just be confusing .Just imagine the first 5 steps as inverted colors ( Negative colors ) Then I inverted the image back to a positive and continued to refine the image . I think it's showing the steps in the wrong order they are marked correctly by their number though .... more »

Here's the original and my painting . I used 3 brush setting a regular brush nothing special then a textured brush and blend brush just to smooth things out a little . Mostly used a regular brush about 80% of the time. All done on one layer . So this could have been done with any graphics program. I used Corel Photopaint though .Took me about 10 to 12 hours . I did most of it in inverted color then inverted it back after being about 80% finished . Then did the finer details .

Does anyone have a suggestion about where to put large photographs and masses of them . So the group can get to them . Be good if it was by password only so we can restrict access to just main group members . They would need to be in categories also . DeviantArt ? Flickr ? DropBox ? Pearltrees isn't really set up for files just links to them .
Speaking of pearltrees . They still want to talk to me about functionality on their site . So if anyone has any input on that let me know . I've been stalling them ;-)
