Tripod of Choice: 3 Legged Thing
I was fortunate enough to find out about 3 Legged Thing right before my trip to Cuba. Having only used one other tripod in the past, I've only ever expected tripods to be bulky, heavy and awkward when combining it with pro gear. Boy was I wrong.
I can't wait to bring my Brian tripod by 3 Legged Thing to New York City for the big photowalk happening in a few weeks. It's nice to know that I can throw it in my +Think Tank Photo Airport Takeoff along with all my other gear. Carrying it around all day wont destroy my shoulder or back as well which is a huge bonus.
So why am I going on about this tripod? Well, Danny from 3 Legged Thing just released a new video on it this morning. If only more companies did reviews like this... Enjoy!

Tara
With no new images to share, been busy with the Scavenger Hunt, I decided to go back to an image of the very beautiful Tara that I was lucky to photograph a year and a half ago. I reprocessed this in Portrait Professional, a program that +Jake Johnson told me about.

Went down to the lake front to test out my new B+W 10 stop ND filter. I can't wait until they finish the renovations on this old building in order to get some better angles on it. It's still surrounded by a large chain link fence on all sides limiting the shooting angles.

A voice inside my head was grousing, “There’s nothing here. It’s not good enough. You’re not good enough. Someone else has done this before. You’ve done this before. You’re uncomfortable. You’ll have better luck next time.” I’d heard it all before. So I changed my inner dialog, “There’s something here; you just have to find it. You know how much you like the surprise when you do. You have a unique sensibility. You’ll bring something new to the situation. You can do it. It will be great. You’re enjoying this.” If I hadn’t shifted the tone of my self-talk I would have given up before I got started, instead I stuck with it, for hours, and succeeded, many times. Toronto Islands Photowalk
On Saturday +Sandra Parlow came to town so +Jim Davis organized a photowalk on the Toronto Islands. I was lucky to meet up with friends that I've shot with before and meet new people as well. It was quite the collection of characters and a large group of Chrysta Rae Scavengers as well! As per usual, we all got split up just after lunch so I never got to spend time with a lot of people. Because it was a private event, the images I've been sharing haven't been shared publicly so I apologize to those of you who have already seen these, those that haven't, I hope you can take the time to check them out.
If you've never been on a photowalk I suggest you give it a try, it's a lot of fun!

In a bone headed move I forgot my tripod but luckily for me my friend +Brandon Luk allowed me to use his for this 3 minute long exposure under the pier on the Toronto Islands. I need to return to this place!

My Next Photography Purchase Will Be A Sherpa!
Ok, I don't think you can buy a Sherpa but I'm pretty sure you can hire them. What does this have to do with this photo you ask? Absolutely nothing! It's just that I finished packing my camera bag for tomorrows photowalk on the Toronto Islands and man! I have way too much gear :/

Pulling Lines
I haven't done any pinstriping in many years but when the #macromonday crew said that todays theme would be art supplies I knew what I wanted to do, pulling it off was a whole different story. Ever try shooting a macro involving your own hand whilst releasing the trigger and balancing a 10" silver reflector? Not that easy so I'll forgive myself this one time for not being exactly tack sharp :)

Trilliums and the Lens Choice Failure
I shot a mountain bike race and all I came out of the forest with was a photo of a flower
100mm f/2.8 is a wonderful lens for hiking through a forest and photographing flowers but a prime lens is not a great idea for a mountain bike race
