I thought I would write up a few changes, observations and hints and tips you may find of use...(more below)

This now looks very similar across all devices. So whether you are using Chrome or Android (or iOS) you will find usuality and style to be almost the same.
I will focus on Google Chrome as this is where most of the changes have been, and forgive me for any errors/omissions as I am still working it all through...

Site structure:

The side bar of options for e.g. profile, communities, ‘what’s hot’ etc, is now a hover activated one.
The top bar of e.g. for a profile options for ‘about’ are now at the top of the page instead of being underneath the ‘cover photo’

Sitting in a training class for the bibliographic management software packages Zotero, Mendeley, and RefWorks.  Learning the pros and cons of each.  I can't test out the Word plug-ins for these packages because the computer in the training lab I am in lacks Microsoft Word (?!??)

Has anybody come across this G+ bug using either the iPhone or the iPad app?  When I try to send out a message, all my circles have their names erased and their counts set to zero (see below).

Is this due to a bug in the new Google+ design, or is it due to me turning on Google+ two-step authentication yesterday?

For those that doesnt know there are a two ways to change two columns display layout to single column display layout.

First to setup stream to be one column only go into your home stream page click on more, for more circles and scroll down to the end of list of your circles and your saved searches. Down you have option stream layout just change it to one column.

Also for communities you have option on account >> google+ >> Accessibility >> "Change the presentation of some pages to work better with screen readers and other assistive tools."
check that and you will have everywhere single column stream.

AAAARGH!  I hate it when more than one thing changes at a time, then an app stops working, and you can't figure out which change caused the problem.  *NEVER, EVER turn on Google two-step authentication the same day Google+ decides to release a major upgrade!!*

Is anybody else out there having any problems with the iPhone and iPad apps for Google+, in sending out a message and finding that all your circles have their names blanked out and their counts set to zero?  I implemented Google's two-step authentication today, if that has anything to do with it.

So, a new piece of information is available: how many people you have blocked on Google+.  How to find this information?

Look in the upper right corner,under your little avatar picture and the red notifications box, where it's a green chat bubble with a quote mark, and it says "Hangouts".   Look further down, for the "+ New Hangout" sign, there's a drop-down menu next to it, click the little down arrow.  (See the green arrow in the picture below.)

Next to "Blocked people" is the number of people you have blocked, in parentheses.  I've blocked 205 people.  How many have you blocked?

In case anyone is like me and likes to see who has plussed something, the button is gone, but you can just click the white space near the little people photos at the bottom of the post and it switches over.  Then click the top return button to go back.

Here's a hot little bestseller title from the mathematics collection (as far as I can tell, zero sign-outs in 72 years).  I can't wait for the movie version; I hear they got Meryl Streep to play the Square Root of Pi.  (She had to work months with a dialect coach to get the accent right.)

It slows your breathing and reduces brain activity to such an extent that Weightless, written by Manchester band Marconi Union, is said to be the 'most relaxing song ever'.

The eight-minute track is so effective at inducing sleep, motorists have now been warned they should not listen to it whilst driving.

The band worked with sound therapists to get advice on how to make the most effective use of harmonies, rhythms and bass lines. The result on listeners is a slowing of the heart rate, reduced blood pressure and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

But, you say, I have nothing to write about. My life is boring. I have nothing to say.

Rubbish. You have plenty to say. You just have to get past that internal sensor in your head which tells you, 'Oh, nobody is going to want to hear THAT'. Who are you to judge what other people want to hear or not? How do you know that someone out there isn't waiting for just the right words from you to validate them, encourage them, enlighten them?

So come out and say what you have to say. It will find the right audience, if not immediately then eventually. Somewhere, with someone, it will strike a chord. You will likely never know who. But do it anyway.

Interesting survey.

Social networks are becoming increasingly hostile, with 78 percent of users reporting rising incivility online and 2 in 5 blocking, unsubscribing or “unfriending” someone over an argument on social media, according to new research from the authors of the New York Times best-seller Crucial Conversations.

Specific findings include:

- 76 percent have witnessed an argument over social media.
- 19 percent have decreased in-person contact with someone because of something they said online.
- 88 percent believe people are less polite on social media than in person.
- 81 percent say the difficult or emotionally charged conversations they have held over social media remain unresolved.
