In light of a few posts that have been floating around G+ today - I thought I'd show you my one and only product I'll be selling here on G+
Please feel free to share this product (which is only available here on Google+) with as many people as possible...
Those interested in becoming an affiliate will be have to go through a vigorous background check i.e. detailing what your experience of fresh air is (NOTE fake air experience will not count)
I'll need your inside leg measurement (so we can capture details that Facebook may not have about you) and finally I'll require you to spot the difference between a blue goldfish and a duck billed platypus...
Other than that ... you're in...

Offer posts in Google+: Easily save and share offers with your circles
Millions of people follow brands they love on Google+ to keep tabs on them, get the latest news on products, join in on the conversation or simply to be entertained. Many people also engage with businesses to get great deals and discounts. Starting today, we’re making it easier to discover, save and share offers right from Google+.
We’re beginning with a select group of brands like +ZAGAT , +Hello Kitty , +Art.com , +NOOK , +Adafruit Industries who can now share offers with their followers. If you follow any of these brands, you'll soon see offers from them in your stream. You can save these offers directly from the post. Once saved, you can use the Google Offers app or simply follow the email confirmation on how to easily redeem the offer online or in-store.
And just like in real life, if y... more »

...And through G+, algorithmically. Thanks for the relevance. If you're new to G+, this is a pretty good circle if you want to liven up your stream or you're in the mood to pop a blood vessel or two. IJS. Have a happy Friday.

Want to actually read something on the new G+ layout? A fix!
Is the new layout with the endless more in posts but especially in comment-rich interactions, driving you nuts?
Are you tediously working your way through scroll bars and clicks on 'more' while losing all track of the actual conversation?
Just click on the date/time stamp of a post while holding control and you get a new tab with the whole conversation expanded
More tips to make readers happy? Let them know in the comments.
You can try it out on the post from which this animated gif stems The end of G+ text by WordSmiths as we know it: pinterest won

The end of G+ text by #WordSmiths as we know it: pinterest won
Every text longer than a few lines is now shortened by a ´more´ button, making text the least visible element on G+.
It requires an extra click to even read it while photos can now be shown in full res. Pinterest won and #WhiteSpace is relegated to show more visuals and less text.
Happy?

If they start to eat you, join forces: Samsung Nexus defragments Android
A clever move for both companies; releasing a Samsung Galaxy S4 Nexus edition with stock unlocked Android. A solution which works well for all parties involved.
Samsung can go on putting its heavily customized almost non-Android interface on its successful Galaxy series, while Google gets a technically perfect phone with a brand which really sells on board of the ´pure´ Android experience.
Who will gain more from this move: Samsung or Google?

How do you put a photo in front of a video on G+?
For an example check the below example which was in a post by +Robert Scoble https://plus.google.com/111091089527727420853/posts/SsxLi4VP5YW
to clarify, here you see only the photo, but on the original post it leads to a video.

Which post do you recommend reading which is NOT about Google I/O
As much as I´m interested in the Google conference, my streams seem to be cluttered with photos of people checking in, standing in queues or announcing that we will soon see the keynote.
With the streams not fully working at the moment it would be great if we could collect some must-read posts of today which will otherwise be buried in I/O posts.
unless the world as we know it will change this afternoon, but chances are there is more happening today

Google to Introduce Music Offering
by +Lee Smallwood
Google will integrate this music option within its Android operating system. Android is widely used in both smartphones and tablets. Google wants to reconfirm Android as a wise choice for both users and device-manufactures and plow the market soil for more initiatives.
The giant also challenges directly Spotify. Spotify offers a platform for music lovers to search and retrieve high quality music files from all over the word. The company says that has access to millions of tracks for any occasion – partying, relaxing or working out.

A day of unrest as the G+ stream was broken, can now be put to bed
Lead architect for G+ +Yonatan Zunger just confirmed that two bugs caused the stream to stagnate for many users.
The stream for All Circles as well as specific circles didn´t show new posts and many users complained about a lack of interaction on their posts.
The suspicion was that Google had introduced a new relevance algorithm overruling the users circle settings. A speculation which was fed by a change in the actual circle slider settings. Instead of a slider control over the amount of posts you would see per circle is now done with the choices normal, more, fewer and a check mark ´subscribe´
+Yonatan Zunger told me these settings are just the verbose equivalents of the old slider settings. He also confirmed there were two distinct bugs which caused streams to don´t show newer posts, but as w... more »

New: 15 GB unified storage space in the Google Cloud
Excellent idea: With this new combined storage space, you won’t have to worry about how much you’re storing and where. For example, maybe you’re a heavy Gmail user but light on photos, or perhaps you were bumping up against your Drive storage limit but were only using 2 GB in Gmail. Now it doesn’t matter, because you can use your storage the way you want.

Which programming language should I learn? Looking for advise
Ruby (on Rails), Scala, Python, Perl, Java or .....
Hi, I haven´t programmed in a long time (20 years or so) and want to pick it up for some simple tasks: what would be the best language for my purposes
What I would like to be able to do is write a quick and dirty Chrome and/or Firefox extension for private use, a web crawler to mine some data I´m interested in, a proof of concept casual game on Android and a Windows based application to tie together some hardware like webcams etc to produce an application which can run in a a sort of industrial box for amusement purposes (maybe based on an Arduino board or a basic PC).
A wild variety of tasks and currently I´m language agnostic. I have a solid background in very outdated programming in respectively Pascal (several dialects), Modula (probably the on... more »

Seen here serving passengers as a stewardess after losing a bet with F1 owner and AirAsia-ceo Tony Fernandes.
Branson lost the bet to Fernandes more than two years ago. The pair wagered on which one of their Formula One racing teams would finish ahead of the other, in the debut season of the 2010 Formula One Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

Microsoft ups Google´s game to socialize search results; offers FB link
Google will serve you personalized results favoring your G+ buddies and an easy click straight to G+ to ´join the discussion´.
Microsoft´s Bing does one better and offers you an immediate comment stream on the subject you were searching for. Limited to Facebook, but that is to be expected after both companies joined forces.
No doubt Google will respond; won´t be long before search becomes an integral part of social, just like sharing and watching youtube already is

Time Warp: G+ users do in 6 minutes what takes 6 hours on FB
According to a Nielsen study people spent only 6 minutes 47 seconds per month on G+ versus more than six hours on Facebook. If true, that would make G+ users highly effective social media users ;)
The complete figures are not yet available, but the reality will be different. A Google spokesman said to Mashable who reported the story that the figures are "far off" from what the company's internal data show.
http://mashable.com/2013/05/10/google-has-20-million-u-s-monthly-mobile-users-report-says/
Let´s see if we can explain some of this huge disparity.
Google managed to convince 350 million people to sign-up for a G+ account, but the majority will never have considered it as a social network. The G+ profile just came with a new Android, YouTube, Gmail or Docs account.
