Kalamalka Lake Evening Panorama
This is a panorama of Kalamalka lake in the evening from the lookout near Vernon, BC. Panoramas can be tough to display on social media so this is really more like a thumbnail. A much larger version can be found on my blog post:

Mount Rainier Reflection for Mountain Monday
This is an older photo I made back in 2010 - one that has been quite popular despite what I consider an annoying technical issue. While I wish I was able to find an interesting foreground for this shot (the one I had in mind was not accessible that day), there is a technical issue I could have corrected if I'd been paying attention at the time. Do you see what it is?

Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) - Wildlife Wednesday
A male and female Barrow's Goldeneye swim past the shoreline at Lightning Lake in Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia, Canada. A photo from my recent trip to the Okanagan, I had to wait a while for this pair to swim back along the shore as they'd initially swam away as I approached the shore. Evidently I wasn't considered too dangerous, as they swam back in front of me after a few minutes. A bit of patience often pays off!

Bowen Park Waterfall - Waterfall Wednesday
A waterfall on the Millstone River at Bowen Park in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Bowen Park is one of those places that surprised me. Much like Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham, Washington - Bowen Park is right in the middle of housing developments, highways, roads and buildings. I often drive right past parks in urban areas such as this, but was glad I found this one during my trip to Vancouver Island last week. The Millstone River flows through the park, and there are many waterfalls of various sizes to photograph. I did not get much in the way of overcast skies, but due to the amount of trees in the area, a late evening shoot worked out just fine.

This photo was made yesterday morning in Grand Teton National Park. One of the best displays of light I've encountered so far on this trip. One more day here before heading back to Yellowstone and then SE Montana.

Mount Shuksan and the Belt of Venus - Mountain Monday
Back in September I went up to the Heather Meadows area of the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington State to take a look at the conditions at Artist Point and Kulshan Ridge. There was still a bit of snow up there in patches (even that late in the Summer), and some of the Lupines are flowering. I made this photograph of Mount Shuksan from along Kulshan Ridge after the direct sun had disappeared, but this great purple light had appeared in the sky. I have since learned this is called the Belt of Venus. I've seen this a few times up there, and I like the mix of colours in this image. Also a bit easier to photograph with less dynamic range in the scene than in the case of direct sunlight.
