If you have older  #twitter  widgets or other API dependant website scripts, you will need to update them. Twitter API v1 blackout testing starts tomorrow (5th March, 2013) and these widgets and scripts will eventually stop working permanently.

Catch up TV, Which services are your favourite?

I don't normally watch a lot of TV so when a new series come out, I don't really hear about them until later. I love Netflix because I can try various programs I've missed, and it's available on mobile and web.

I got myself totally sucked into The Vampire Diaries recently because a co-worker was talking about it, I watched 3 seasons in 3 weeks on Netflix. Current Season 4 episodes are only available on iTunes and Blinkbox from Tesco. I don't do iTunes, so hello Blinkbox, I think I was only vaguely aware of the service. (Top up a quid when joining and get 5 quid free credit.)

Other services I use are Sky Go (Trialing the Extra service for downloading to mobile), Lovefilm, and then rarely the network services like BBC iPlayer, ITVplayer, and 4OD.

I'm tidying up my work PC, I get uncomfortable with less than 25% free space on the hard drive. This is a great little windows program that visually displays disk contents relative to the directory size. Easily see which folders on your drive are taking up the most space and drill down into those further. No installation required.

I don't use this plugin, but want to share this article in case any clients or friends use it. Using the W3 Total Cache plugin could leave your site vulnerable to hacking. Please check your installed plugins to ensure you're not using it (at least until the security issue has been fixed.)

Fight Spam with a Honey Pot

Http:BL plugins are available for many CMS systems to help prevent spam. You can also set up a honey pot on your website to help catch the harvesters and spam bots.

I just installed this module on a site that was being flooded with spam accounts and it has now started logging 2 high-level threats blocked almost every minute. On another site I have this installed on for 2+ years, it has logged tens of thousands of blocked spammers. Between this and StopForumSpam, I rarely have a spam problem.

If I were Google, I would support and work with initiatives like these for the benefit of the internet community, if they aren't already. :)
