There is a Korean horror movie coming out called The Webtoon. It is about a webcartoonist who finds out every murder he draws in his comic comes true. This is the most amazing thing I have ever heard.

Haeundae beach is a very popular tourist spot in South Korea. But lately, they've had a problem with Rip Tides.
A rip tide is a powerful current that, if you get stuck in it, can suck you deep out into the sea where you can drown. I've been stuck in one. It's terrifying. But taking a cue from the mayor in Jaws, officials weren't about to let a little thing like potential death scare away their tourists!
So they decided to turn it into an advertising opportunity. Rip Tide-jumping is now billed in Busan as an extreme sport!

ARTISTS! If you're sharing your work on Google+ there's one important new "feature" you're going to want to disable immediately! Auto Enhance.
You know those colors you slaved over for hours to get just right? Google+ thinks it can do better, and if you don't turn it off it will boost up the saturation and blow out the contrast, forcing you to go back to every image individually to undo it.
Or, you can nip it in the bud right now. Go to the left to make the pop up menu appear, hit settings, and uncheck the box I've highlighted below.

Together with editor Chris Duffy, and with the support of the Ann Arbor District Library, we've created the KCR! Comics Awards, honoring comics and graphic novels that hold a special place on kids' shelves.

Iron Man 3 came out in Korea, and I enjoyed it! But after the big villain reveal I wonder if I have to be more worried about Disney legal finding my Chillin’ Like VIllains comic. I guess read it now before the Cease & Desist Orders fly. I don’t wanna spoil anything else but, DANG. That ending. The greatest trick Marvel ever pulled was making us think they couldn’t make a deal with Fox and Sony.

My new con idea: translation bookmarks!

I print comics for two audiences: Korean Comic-Con attendees, and as giveaways for western online fans who support my stuff. But the problem is: they speak different languages! If I print it in English, it’s harder to sell in Korea. If I print it in Korean, westerners won’t understand it! But since I have to order 1000 or so books at a time, I have to choose one or the other!

But at my last show, I tried a little experiment to sell some of my leftover Mystical Monkey books from The Whole Story. I printed all of the translated text on a double-sided bookmark, with each bit of dialogue numbered by panel and page. That way, readers can hold it under the panel like subtitles, and it’ll hold their place when they take a break from reading.

I am trying a crazy experiment that may become a regular thing if this one works out! I have a script for a comic that I’ll probably never get around to drawing. Rather than just let it sit in a folder, I’m releasing it for FREE TO THE WORLD under a CCBY3.0 license so you can do whatever you want with it and make a million dollars off it while I sit here like a chump and work on other comics.

Today Hyun Sook and I went to the most ADORABLE little art village you ever did see.

Years ago, Gamcheon Village was just a poor little mostly-abandoned spot up in the mountains. But then a group of artists teamed up with the government and took it over, turning the whole town into a giant art installation. Fish-shaped arrows take you all over, through tiny alleys, up hills, down winding staircases, everything painted bright colors. Some of the doors are homes of friendly locals, some are tiny tiny art spaces. Some are little teashops where you can sit in the fresh air and overlook it all. The coolest part was the old timey bathhouse that had been converted into an art gallery and school.

Man, i want to find an old abandoned village and convert it into a cartoonist's village now.

I'm gonna tell you guys a secret about chasing your dreams.

It's not the cliche crap, about never giving up, or overcoming adversity. You know all that. If you relate following a goal to The Odyssey, everybody knows about all the monsters you have to slay, battles you have to win, cyclopses you have to outwit, and all that.

But what no one tells you is the the adversity is not the hardest part to overcome. The hardest part is comfort. To return to our The Odyssey metaphor, the hardest part of his journey had to have been the land of the Lotus Eaters.

There were no six-headed monsters on that island, no sirens, no angry deities. There were just some nice dudes offering some fruit that made Odysseus and his men feel awesome. Yayyy! It finally got announced! Last year, I was hired to write the sequel to one of my favorite books of all time, Poorcraft! It’ll once again be published by Iron Circus comics. I cannot even explain what an honor it was to write this. This is my version of how most cartoonists would feel to write Superman.
The original was about how to live well on less, and my sequel is about traveling cheap! It’ll be like a full length Master’s class version of my “travel anywhere on $5 a day” comic. It’s still being illustrated, I just wanted to post about it now because I am SUPER EXCITED!
