Georges Pauly14,521Thomas HawkShared publicly  -  30 Aug 2013 2500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 2 of 5)This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+.  I'm going to share it in 5 posts.  Yesterday I shared last name A-Da.  This one , part 2 of 5, today, represents Da-Ho.  I'll share the remaining three next week.  I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers.  I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.A few notes about this circle. The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography.  I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly.  I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.).  I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks.  You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them.  I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks.  I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at.  There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle.  It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at.  Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference.  Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today.  There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+.  There are wayyyyy too many.  These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed.  I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :)  I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you.  :)Stay tuned for parts 3, 4 and 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.Part 1-5:  http://goo.gl/17ujpn*Note, Google Circles are terribly wonky.  It wouldn't let me add some photographers in my circle into these circles because of domain errors.  If this affected you, sorry about that.2013-09-01 19:56:06482204

Brunner Nathan1,086The photographers here are all in my personal circles.  The choices are mine and mine alone.  No one asked, begged, or pleaded to belong.  No bribes were offered or accepted.  These are the people that I follow because I appreciate their great quality photography and their interaction.  Most I have met as I help curate several of the photography themes.  There are NO requirements to share this circle.  I would appreciate the people in this circle plus the post, leave a comment, and share the circle as public.  Each profile has been verified by me.  Most have < 10,000 followers (when they were put into the circle).  They each have high quality original photography content.  You won’t find many animated gifs!  I have included myself in the circle and also the landscape page.  Some are new to G+ so please make them feel welcome!!Landscape Photography:  I invite everyone to check out the +Landscape Photography  #LandsacapePhotography theme.  If you want to impress me, that’s the place to do it!!  Post a great landscape that will get my attention.  See the About tab for all the details.I wasn’t included, what do I do?  If you meet the criteria, weren’t included, but think you should be, then leave me a comment.  Maybe I don’t know about you.  There are millions of people on G+ and I don’t know everyone.  However, I’ll be happy to have a look at your work if you will call it to my attention.  Start posting landscapes that get my attention (see above)!!There’s a really great photographerr that you didn’t include.  Please feel free to recommend qualified people.  I discover new people every day and would be happy to look at their work.  Please make sure that the recommended person meets the criteria.  If they don’t then that tells me a lot about you!#Circleshare   #Sharedcircles2012-12-24 08:19:0850022323

They also have "more photos, less spam." There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity).Be sure to get all 14 circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to October 15th for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting October 1st.)I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about2012-10-17 10:19:51338627

Landscape Photography5,833Landscape Photography Most Active+Landscape Photography    #LandscapePhotography is proud to announce its first circle of most active participants.  Why Save This Circle?  These are the people who most frequently post to the #LandscapePhotography theme and who comment on other people’s photographs.  If you want more comments on your landscape photographs, this is the group who will most likely provide them.  The Google Plus Relevance feature was used to select this group.  I’m Not Here!  What Can I Do?  Post more frequently to the #LandscapePhotography theme and interact more on each post.  Don’t just comment.  Have a conversation.  How do you do that?  Ask questions.  Most people will be delighted to answer them.  Ask follow-up questions.  Before long, you will have a conversation going.  Ask leading questions.  Those are the ones that take more than a yes/no answer!  Enjoy the conversation!!  You will meet wonderful and interesting people all over the world.  Enjoy the G+ experience.  #Circleshare   #Sharedcircles  2012-10-04 12:12:09500984974

No one has asked for inclusion and the choice of inclusion was solely my own decision. • Photographers that are inactive were not chosen• Photographers with animated gifs were not chosen• Only photographers sharing a nice selection of their own images were included• Lots of external links = not included• I had to like what I saw; my circle = my choice.• I'm in the circle. My circle, I get to be in it.For anyone sharing this circle, I recommend that you add a few fresh images to your stream to keep your content balanced.◊◊◊2012-08-24 09:00:48265130128165

Guidelines for inclusion can be found at: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about2012-08-17 10:27:37366211
David Bowden33,286The LARGEST B&W circle on Google+Well, its that time again. Time to share the B&W circle. We are REAL CLOSE to 500 in this circle. After months of collecting and cultivating the circle is at 485.If you are a lover of B&W images, please take a moment to look over this circle of photographers. To be included each photographer must shoot at least 40% of their work in B&W or have a dedicated collection of quality B&W images here on Google+I encourage you to look at the work, comment and SHARE this circle. There are some fantastic photographers from all areas of the world here. I learn and enjoy their work and know you all will to.</david>2012-08-17 02:14:03484433248

Martin Bailey37,482It's been a while since I shared my Photography circle, so here goes. This circle is the result of a year on Google+ interacting with many, many amazing photographers. It isn't a comprehensive list of the best photogs on G+, and it doesn't contain everyone that I interact with or follow. I have a few other circles for people that share good info but don't interact, and I have some lists of friends that haven't taken the time to upload enough photos to make their profile look pretty. I'll shift them over when their profiles look good. Superficial? Yes, but I like things to look pretty. This isn't a list that I'll add people to on request. If our paths cross and you share good content, I'll add you in due course. If you think you should be in here but aren't, I'm sorry. Let's stay friends and you'll be in their someday if you continue to share original and interesting photography related information. There are also a number of people that write in Japanese in here. If you don't like posts in languages you don't understand, weed those plussers out later, but they are in the list primarily because they're great photographers, so hopefully you'll keep them circled.Enjoy...2012-07-18 12:47:18438491249

No one has asked for inclusion and the choice of inclusion was solely my own decision. • Photographers that are inactive were not chosen• Photographers with animated gifs were not chosen• Only photographers sharing a nice selection of their own images were included• Lots of external links = not included• I had to like what I saw; my circle - my choice. For anyone sharing this circle, I recommend that you add a few fresh images to your stream to keep your content balanced.◊◊◊2012-07-02 19:01:47253151122173

Billy Wilson49,115Architecture LoversThis weekend I started a few threads to try and find people passionate about the art of architecture. I haven't found much of a community on G+ surrounding architecture itself yet so I hope this circle share will spread and strengthen this community so please consider sharing this post with your friends. This circle isn't really aimed towards those who just photograph architecture, but also those who design, preserve, study, and love architecture. I tried to make sure that the people in this circle posted at least semi-frequently and at least had an interest in the topic. If you don't see yourself included, don't worry, I'll probably share another version of this circle later down the road, in the meantime, try to show your passion for architecture! Here's the initial thread for suggestions for this circle: http://goo.gl/MPSxa Here's the second thread: http://goo.gl/BlfpE #Architecture   #CircleShare   #Community  2012-06-10 20:13:4963533998
Thomas Hawk2,473,6682,000 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+Part 2 of 4 (Ev-La)Part 1 of 4 (A-Ev) here:  http://goo.gl/Z333gThis is the fourth time since joining G+ almost a year ago that I'm sharing my photographers circle.  I shared it with 500 photographers, 1,000 photographers, 1,500 photographers and now 2,000 photographers.  I have to break my circle up into four 500 photographer circles as that is the G+ limit.  Each day this week (Mon.- Thurs.) I'll share a different circle.  Today is the second circle and includes photographers with the last name's Ev-La. A few notes about these circles.  I always get hated on when I share them by people.  Inevitably if I include 2,000 people, I will leave 50,000 people out.  This is not intentional or personal.  This circle is not "the best" photographers on G+ or in the world.  It doesn't mean if you are not in my circle that you are not a "quality" photographer.  This list is simply photographers that I've stumbled across for whatever reason over the past year and have chosen to follow their work.  In some cases I've gotten to know the photographers in this circle personally -- through photowalks and trips, hangouts, in real life, etc.  Many of these people are or have become my friends.  Most of the photographers in my circle though I don't even know.  They are just people whose work I admire and want to consume -- I hope many are future friends.  :)I use some objective criteria with this circle but I use a lot of subjective criteria too.  This is, afterall, my own personal circle that I look at and +1 from every single day.  My aesthetic taste and personal preferences may be very, very different than yours.  This is ok.  Art is subjective.  That said, here a breakdown of my own preferences and biases that influence who I add into my circle.1.  I like people who are active on G+.  If you haven't posted one of your photos in the last month you probably are not in this circle.  I use a script to uncircle inactive people regularly.2.  I like photographers who mostly post their own photographs.  I dislike clutter and "dumb stuff" in my photographers circle.  Excessive reshares, circle shares, memes, gifs, youtube videos, posts not about photography, web links, etc. make me uncircle or move people to a different circle.  I also like photographers who regulate how much of their photography they post to their stream.  I don't want to see 50 shots in a row of someone's vacation.  I think about 5 photos max a day feels about right to me.3.  *Controversial* I dislike signatures and watermarks.  You will find photographers in my circle that use them.  It's just a bias, not a hard and fast rule.  I mostly want this stream to be as watermark/signature free as possible.  I totally understand and respect your reasons and decision for using watermarks/signatures.  I hope you equally respect my decision to not want to consume photos mared up with them.  Please don't turn this into a discussion about watermarks/sigs, I've spent the last 10 years thinking heavily about this issue.  It's just a personal preference and bias.4.  I like people who are active, positive, helpful, enthusiastic G+ community members.  I dislike people who are rude, mean, complainers, trolls, harrasers, etc.  If you say mean things to people, about people, about their art or their work I don't want to follow you.  I'm fine with debate and disagreement.  It should just be done respectfully -- there's a huge difference between respectful disagreement and rude behavior.  Not only will you not be in this circle if you are rude, I'll probably block you too.  I want to surround myself with positive uplifting people. 5.  I like people who directly post their work here on 2012-06-05 16:20:03500152107307

Title from Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks

Apologies for the recent lack of activity. It's been hard finding time to go out and shoot, or sift through the good old backlog of photos. Too bad life has to get in the way of photography!

Speaking of backlog, this one's from waaaay back in May when we had that little event called the #TorontoPhotoWalk /+The Great Canadian Photowalk - Toronto. It culminated on Toronto Island, with a big bunch of us perched on the edge of the island waiting for the sun to go down to capture the city skyline.

I spent a lot of time on this photo. Not on the processing, no. Instead, I had a hard time deciding on the crop. In the end, I went with a 16:9 aspect ratio crop. I'm also working on a B&W version of this that I will try to post soon.

So wait, wait until you can wait, no more - Tobermory, ON

Title from Deerhunter, Neither Of Us, Uncertainly

Another shot that's long due to be posted. This one's a unique one. There were about ~50 people mulling about the water and by the edges, and it would've been impossible to get this shot....if I didn't have my filters and a tripod :) Long Exposures to the rescue.

I think I took about 3 different images with everyone blurred out in different areas in each image (thank god no one kept still to be persisent in each shot!), some layer stacking, some erasing, some cloning, and ta-da! Nature as intended.

Great curves in all the right places - Toronto, ON

This is one of the multiple wavedecks that are lined up along Harbourfront in Toronto downtown. I can't remember exactly which one this was now, but I want to say the Simcoe Wavedeck.

It required a lot of patience to get this shot. It was really hard avoid photobombs, people running up and down the walkway, kids and adults both!

Re-sharing a post from few days ago, I forgot to make it public!

In a little while, I'll be gone. The moment's already passed, yeah it's gone - Toronto, ON

Title from 4. How To Disappear Completely

If 8 months ago, you would've told me that I had made my last post till today, I would've paid you good money to watch your comedy routine. It really is laughable that I've been away for so long! Of course I had good reasons that kept me busy, but still… Here's hoping I can slowly reintegrate myself back into the wonderful world that is the G+ photography community :)

To the people who made sure I was alive during my absence here, thank you!

You and I, we're all in this alone - Tobermory, ON

There's quite a few things that struck me about this scene. The dark, and almost geometrically shaped, clouds. The rough, choppy waters. The boat swaying in the wind while the sail is standing firm. This was another example where I felt the 16:9 crop ratio brings out the best in this photo. Oh and btw, I did not do any processing on the tint or temperature. The All-Blue look of this scene is completely natural, monochromatic in its own way.

Balance the serenity by encasing it with ruggedness - Tobermory, ON

Why is this composed the way it is? Because there were numerous people climbing the rocky walls, right below me! To the bottom right is the famous Tobermory Grotto. I wish they would have special "photography time" for it, there were just far too many people to get any nice photos of it. Regardless, I was able to get a nice shot of the lovely water around the coast.

We were but stones, your light made us stars - Long Point, ON

Lyrics from Pearl Jam- Light Years (with lyrics)

As promised earlier, a light show! This was my first real opportunity at capturing the Milky Way. Not the usual kind of long exposure photography I do, but no less stunning! I was blown away by the amount of stars I could see here, and by the fact that the ring of the Milky Way was visible to the naked eye! The light you see on the horizon is from the cities across the lake (Erie, PA, by my estimation). If you look close enough, even a meteorioid was captured! The boat and the inner coast was nicely lit up by a campfire right behind me :)

Oh and a big thank you to +Darryl Van Gaal for tips on astrophotography!

Just like yesterday, I told you I would stay - Toronto, ON

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking - Toronto, ON

Title from Time - Pink Floyd + Lyrics

So a few weeks ago, I posted a shot of one of the most dramatic sunsets I'd ever seen, following an enormous thunderstorm ( http://goo.gl/qGbji ). Of course I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to capture a long exposure of this epic sunset. I knew I was going to have a very small time window to capture those colours quickly, so I hustled and managed to get two shots. One was a happy accident (will post that another time) and the second was this one.

I knew the clouds would mask the blue skies, but I did NOT expect such deep blood reds to emerge due to the long exposure! I think the slight warmth that the B+W filter casts definitely added to the reds. Again, no exaggeration of colours in post, just pulled back the shadows quite a bit to... more »

Time for a song and BBQ - Milton, ON

The Crawford Lake Conservation Area contains a reconstructed 15th century Iroquois Wendat village, built on the original site. It's quite interesting to see the habitat and tools that the natives used here, almost 600 years ago! Quite a lot of work and research by archaeologists went into the recreating this site. This is a shot of one of the structures there.

Title from Pearl Jam - Even Flow

Last one from the Hilton Falls series. Technically, this isn't a photo of the falls, but I was standing right on top at the edge of the falls, with a steep drop about 2 feet behind me. The stream itself wasn't too forceful though, so I was able to keep myself and my tripod steady enough ;)

Rawr - Toronto, ON

I honestly could not think of a better title for this photo. There I was, sitting at home in the evening after a very hot day, when out of nowhere it became dark. I looked outside and saw a MASSIVE cloud moving in. A quick grab of the camera and burst to the balcony, this is what I caught. The cloud really looked like it was going to eat everything in its path!

The storm itself that followed was short and sweet, but the aftermath was tremendous! More on that tomorrow :)

Curve by curve, line by line - Pune, India

Some of you may be familiar with Mehndi, which is a form of skin decoration traditionally used for weddings by various cultures in South Asia. This is from one of my best friend's wedding that I attended this past April. I was never able to to close up of the mehndi design during the wedding itself. So a few days later, when my friend and his wife came to see me off as I was leaving for the airport, I took the opportunity to snap this shot.

Oh hazy lazy days, I could dream of you forever - Pune, India

Title from The Walkmen - Blue As Your Blood

An early morning shot of the city I called home for the first 13 years of my life: Pune! Much, much has changed since I left, but it still remains my home away from home :)

This was taken from the top of a very treacherous tower located on top of a hill. There are hills running all throughout the city so there are plenty of great viewpoints. It was very early in the morning and the fog was just retreating. I tried to maintain that hazy, lazy look in the processing with pretty even, neutral tones.

Slow seduction through gradual destruction - Toronto, ON

This is the 3rd image from my Hilton Falls series. Still the only falls I've photographed so far but I'm hoping to visit some new ones over the next little while.

I was pretty much in the water at this point. Any further in and I would've risked soaking my borrowed camera, so this was as close in as I could get.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and have a great week ahead :)

I know it's a little early for +Eric Leslie's #WaterfallWednesday but I couldn't wait to get it out!

You know what the sun's all about when the lights go out - Toronto, ON

Hello G+! Finally back to posting since I got back from my vacation. Still sorting through all the pics I took in India, that's gonna take a while, especially since a wedding was involved!

I'd been holding on to this image for a while, dunno why, so I finally decided to post it today due guilt from lack of posting anything for so long. It was shot from a window of an airplane as I took off from Toronto to Chicago. I could hardly believe the colours as I scrambled to get a shot off before the plane turned away!

#WindowWednesday curated by +Jules Falk Hunter, +Cheryl Cooper, +Martin OBER, +Jason Kowing, and +Simon Kitcher
+Peter Carroll, would this qualify for #WayWednesday ?

What comes after this, momentary bliss - Hilton Falls, Milton, ON

BEACH HOUSE - "MYTH" (OFFICIAL TRACK)

Another shot from the Hilton Falls series, this time near the edge of the top. I was very tempted to go with a square crop for a tight composition, but I think I prefer the 5x7 crop, adds a little depth to the image. Besides, #RectanglesAreSexy right +Athena Carey? :)

Pulled together but about to burst apart - Toronto, ON

I purposefully chose a very shallow DOF and focused within a plane that did not fall along the center of any of the flowers. I think it looks more...playful ;)

Usually I go for a high contrast B&W with some extreme black and white tones. I decided to change it up a bit and go with some slightly neutral greys, along with reddish highlights and bluish shadows on the split toning. Very much +Alan Shapiro inspired! Hope you guys like it!

Feeding the narrows with streams of silence - Hilton Falls, Milton, ON

My first ever waterfall shot! Went hiking again this past weekend, and I was really excited because I've been itching to try and shoot a waterfall ever since I got my first DSLR this past December. The hiking trail offered up this beautiful one :)

Learned quickly though that it's pretty tricky to come up with interesting and original compositions. Had to get my feet a little wet for some good shots but it was totally worth it! I was even able to shoot a few while standing on top at the edge of the falls. I'll post one from that view another time.

This one was shot keeping the main falls, as well as the mossy side wall, within view. It was a tricky exposure as the wall was much darker, but the small water streams down the wall induced an excellent green glow. Used a circular polarizer to... more »

Oh killer killer eyes, surrender pink steam - Toronto, ON

So there I was, camera in hand, minding my own business (as much as a guy with a camera can), walking around downtown Toronto just before sunset, right after some heavy yet very brief showers, when the Sun peaked through the clouds. It cast this tremendous pink glow on the clouds throughout the sky.

Pointed camera at subject. Snap.

Btw other than some cleanup on highlights, shadows and some minor contrast adjustments, no other modification was made. The colours were really this brilliant!

Still the day is never done, but there's a light on where you're sleeping - Mumbai, India

Title from Troubles Will Be Gone by The Tallest Man On Earth

Finally got around to processing more photos from the recent trip. This one is from one of the most enigmatic areas in all of Mumbai: IIT, Powai. The campus is built on top of a hill, very close to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Outside the campus, it is pure bedlam, with dense construction and insanely heavy traffic.

Cross the gates into the campus and it's as if you've stepped into a completely different world. Untouched by pollution, clean and green everywhere, towering trees providing canopies, and occasional sightings of leopards and crocodiles! It can be hard to believe that you are in one of the biggest and most populated cities in the world!

This one was taken while I was out for a walk by the lake. There was quite a bit of vegetation on the lake and flowers were blooming on top of that. I'm not convinced I did the best job processing this one so I might revisit this photo, but this will do for now :)

A stunning image from +Julia Anna Gospodarou! Amazing LE Architecture shot

Please leave comments and +1's on the original post.

waves in the sky
Bauhaus Museum, Berlin

“The ultimate aim of all creative activity is a building!” --- Walter Gropius – Manifesto
...if you want to read the full text of the “Bauhaus Manifesto” … http://www.dmoma.org/lobby/Bauhaus_manifesto.html

I could say so many things about this building ...about Walter Gropius ...about Bauhaus.. It would be like talking about how we arrived at the point we are now in modern architecture, in modern art, who were our “fathers” in terms of creators and creations. This building is much more than a building. It's a symbol. Together with the old Bauhaus University in Weimar, designed by Henry van de Velde and the new one in Dessau, designed by Walter Gropius himself, the Bauhaus Museum in Berlin, also designed by Gropius, reminds of one of the most daring and creative periods in modern art and architecture. So many minds of the 20th century have passed through one of these buildings, either teaching or studying there, so many products of their work are still a reference in modern art history.
Just a few names ...Wassily Kandinsky (the founder of the group Der Blaue Reiter, which I particularily love), Paul Klee, Mies van der Rohe, Oskar Schlemmer, Lyonel Feininger, Gerhard Marcks, El Lissitsky, Theo van Doesburg and so many others.
Bauhaus movement had a major impact, first on the architecture, then on all kinds of art in Europe and North America mostly, but also all around the world. And it still has, after almost a century from its birth. Its promoters managed to raise the functionality to the level of art and showed to the world the beauty of the simple forms, taught us that form always has to follow the content and sincerity in building means beauty.

I could spend hours talking about this, but it will probably be boring for many, so I'll stop now and just say that what I wanted with this photo was to show in just one image how I feel about this building: the magic of blending order with fantasy, that's what I see here. Simple volumes, no decoration, but put together they look and sound like a poem, and the shapes and the white of the roof makes me think about the sea and its waves on a windy day...

I'd also want you to take a look at another image of this building that I found very inspired and impressed me a lot. It's +Matthias Haltenhof's https://plus.google.com/u/0/106528401481634393992/posts/isPjbrpzsKD and I'm sue you're going to love it just as much as I did.
(Matthias, I'm also looking forward to your Desssau photos!!! ;)

Shoaling into the open sun - Milton, ON

This was taken during a trail hike in the Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area. This was the first time I lugged around all my gear (tripod and everything) on a hike, which was about 16 kms. Fun times! It was well worth it though, the main trail ran along side a cliff and offered plenty of lookout points with excellent views.

Forget about your house of cards - Toronto, ON

I'm having a hard time nailing the photo I want to submit for the Plus One Magazine. I decided to step away from it for a while and come back to it later. Fresh eyes and all that. In the meantime, I worked on this one.

Edit - Please excuse all the noise that was introduced into this image. I have no idea why that's there. Looks fine in Lightroom and even the exported image had no issues. Only after uploading it here do I see all this terrible noise creeping into the corners. Anyone else ever have this issue? Any fix?

See what you dream - Toronto, ON

After I took this shot, I was highly tempted to do a B&W conversion, but the colours presented were far too vivid to pass up. We've been getting such consistently colourful sunsets here! I still might do it a B&W version...what do you guys think?

This photo is a combination of 2 long exposures using a B+W 10 stop ND Filter, 30 seconds for the background and 90 seconds for the foreground, blended manually in PS, with some contrast/brightness adjustments in LR.

P.S: Yes I know, the asymmetry of the bench is a little distracting...

Good Monday morning everyone! I was finally able to go out for a shoot since coming back from my trip. Which means a chance to do more LE work :)

This one is a 60 sec exposure, using a 10 stop B+W ND Filter.

Bullets guiding in the light - Pune, India

I'd been wanting to try the "zoom while exposing" trick for a while now but never found a decent enough use for it until this. Early morning, sun barely up, light streaming in through the trees...perfect! 2.5 seconds exposure, just enough to not blow out the photo.

I think this is my first ever contribution to #TreeTuesday by +Christina Lawrie and +Shannon S. Myers!

Company's OK, Solitude is Bliss - Crystal Lake, IL

Good Thursday morning! This might be my last post for the next 2-3 weeks, I'm off to India for one of my best friend's wedding! Hopefully I'll come back with lots of photos to post :)

I spent some time doing a B&W version of this photo but somehow simply could not make it work. Plus I feel the the rocks at the edge of the water offer some interesting colour variations. So eventually went with this version.

Into the jaws of sky wide - Toronto, ON

Good morning, hope everyone's enjoying the long weekend! This photo was one of those "fortunate" shots I was able to get off. Early morning, sun not completely up yet, extremely foggy, and I was gearing up to do a long exposure to the right of frame. Just as I was about to screw on the ND filter, this boat cut right through the fog in front of me and sped ahead. Filter in one hand, I fumbled with the camera on the tripod with the other hand and managed to aim it at the boat and shoot...just as the sun came up over the fog! Worked out better than I thought...what do you think?
