Sometimes it feels like people complain just because they want to complain.

See many people all over Google+ being disappointed that there was no Android 4.3 or 5.0 announced at the Google I/O 2013.
Not a single one is actually complaining about any missing features or what they would like to see in future Android releases. They only complain about the version number.

Seriously people ... don't just look at the version number.
Instead, talk about what you need / want in features and functions and design.

Being dissappoined that a certain version number was not released without knowing what is planned in a future release is outright stupid ...

Use your time and energy to come up with new designs, features, functions, apps, settings etc. etc. which could improve the Android experience.

Google Plus Love

Google+ at its finest!

+Erik Andersson is turning 40 in a couple of days and 80-90 of his closest friends on Google+ decided to celebrate his birthday.

Erik is a guy who has been working as a hub in the Swedish Google+ community, bringing people together. Many Swedish Google+ users appreciate what Erik is doing and we all love him :)

A group of 80-90 plussers decided to something nice for Erik and we knew since earlier that Erik wanted a Nexus 7 - badly!
Having a big family Erik knew that he wouldn't be able to keep the Nexus 7 to himself as rest of the family would want to use it as well. As his family are iPhone users he was contemplating about an iPad instead of a Nexus 7. Or maybe he should get both? No way he said ... he couldn't even afford one of them and decided not to get any of them ...

First fields between Sweden and Germany

We have the pleasure of having a guest in Malmö with keys to Germany.
My team mates set up a level 6 portal in Malmö (Sweden) which +Philipp da Cunha linked to five portals in Germany.

This means that our region Scania/Skåne is now linked to two different countries as we also have links to Denmark.

Tired of Skype, any other options?

I'm getting sick and tired of +Skype . Been using it for years but now I'm fed up with it.
I'm a paying customer and I've been using it for calls to the US (land lines), to cell phones, to computers etc.
But now, every day for a complete week the calls drop - all the time! I connect and a call lasts for 10 seconds to a couple of minutes. Starts with the loss of sound and then it disconnects on its own.

I have tried multiple platforms and still the problems are there. It is not hardware nor OS related.

I now need a replacement for Skype.

Requirements:
-Similar to Skype
-Shall work!
-Shall at minimum handle free calls from an Android device to an iOS device.
-Don't want an app which synchronizes my phone book automatically. I want to be able to opt out a sync with my phone... more »

Classical rhetoric

How do you build up a speech in order to maximize your influence on your audience?

A classical way of doing it is to divide the speech into 5 parts:

1. Exordium - The introduction, where you capture the attention of the audience.
2. Narratio - Give the background / establish the facts
3. Probatio - Put forth your ideas / arguments and provide evidence
4. Refutatio - Address the opposing arguments with facts
5. Peroratio - Summarize the key points and leave the audience in an appropriate emotional state to accept your arguments.

If warranted, points 3 and 4 can switch order.

You also need to decide what style you want to use depending on what type of speech it is:
a) Ethos - Ethos is appeal based on character and reputation of the speaker

I have several posts showing up which is strange as no Community posts should be visible.

I even have posts from people whom I do not have in my circles. The only connection is that we are in the same community.

Google Plus Page Owners & Managers: What's the Difference?

I've run across several people recently who were confused or in the dark about how Google+ Pages are owned and who has authority over them. Here's the skinny:

Every page must be created by a real person, i.e., someone with a personal Google+ profile.

The creator of the page is its de facto Owner

Owners can add managers - up to 50 per page.

Owners can transfer ownership to any other manager at any time

Managers can add other managers

Owners and managers have all page admin powers _except for two which belong only to the Owner:

1. Only Owners can transfer ownership
2. Only Owners can delete the page

The Obelisk of Theodosius

The Obelisk of Theodosius (Dikilitaş in Turkish) was erected 390 A.D. in Istanbul, Turkey. But its history started long before that.

The obelisk was first set up by Pharaoh Tutmoses III (1479–1425 BC) to the south of the seventh pylon of the great temple of Karnak. The Roman emperor Constantius II (337-361 AD) had it transported along the river Nile to Alexandria to commemorate his ventennalia or 20 years on the throne in 357. It remained in Alexandria until 390, when Theodosius I (378-392 AD) had it transported to Constantinople and put up in what we today know as Sultanahmet Meydanı.

*I miss Bruce Lee*

As a kid I was a huge fan of Bruce Lee and today I can say that I still am a huge fan of his.
Hence I visited his resting place in Seattle (Lakeview Cemetary). Master Lee left us at the age of 32 (way too young).
Tragically, he is resting next to his son Brandon Lee who died at the age of 28.

His notable appearances are the 5 big movies he starred in and his role as Kato in the Green Hornet.

New Nexus 7 Battery test

I have some updates on the power consumption of my Nexus 7.
I've had it on for 5 days and 20 hours where the battery indicator went from 100% to 4%.
Most of the time it has been on idle with Wi-Fi turned off.

As can be seen by the 2 images the screen has been on for 4 hours and accounts for 53% of the total power consumption.
The main usage has been with Chrome and Google+. Other usage has been some gaming apps, but they don't show on the list. I would think that the Mediaserver would represent the games I've played as they had music and sound.

With 4% remaining I'm sure I could have gotten another couple of hours in idle before draining the battery completely, getting up to a total of 6 days.

The results?
I think that 6 days in idle with 4 hours of heavy use is a good result. Not a great... more »

Eiffel Tower

A re-post of an old photo from 2005. It was photographed with a Walkman mobile phone (W800i) with a 3.2 MP camera.
This is from inside the Eiffel Tower looking upwards.
Even though it is hard to see what it is and that everything looks out of order I still like this photo due to the coloring and lights and the effects caused by them.

NFC killing my Nexus 7 battery

Anyone else noticed this?
NFC is literally killing the battery in my Nexus 7 after the upgrade to 4.2.

Running stock Android 4.2. Not used NFC, but it is activated in settings.

Can this have anything to do with the Bluetooth stack update in 4.2?
The image hints that NFC and Bluetooth is somehow connected.

Let's try to figure out the extent of this problem. Please comment if you have seen this behavior.

Capitol Records Tower

One of my shots of the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood.
Located just north of the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, the structure is home to the recording studios and echo chambers of Capitol Studios — and is on the List of Registered Historic Places in Los Angeles.

Some facts:
> The wide curved awnings over windows on each story and the tall spike emerging from the top of the building coincidentally resembling a stack of records on a turntable.
> The blinking light atop the tower spells out the word "Hollywood" in Morse code, and has done so since the building's opening in 1956.
> The first album recorded in the tower was Frank Sinatra Conducts Tone Poems of Color.
