Good day friends! Here are some great nuggets I picked up from the session with +Don Dodge and his incredible panel of start-up experts (http://goo.gl/eupUZ). 

1) Having a good co-founder dynamic plays into if you could get funded or not. Show that you've thought deeply about your idea. Do you and your co-founders get along? Are you passionate and excited, and does that show when you're together?

2) You have 10 min in your Y-Combinator interview. Make those minutes count. When you explain yourself and your idea, get your point across in such a way that you inspire someone to take a meeting with you.

3) Accelerators are useful for 3 things. 1) They're a filter for bad, decent, and good ideas. 2) They provide education (including how to raise$)... more »

Singapore Flyer Blue Hour - A Virtual Photo Walks Presentation

The Singapore Flyer is a giant Ferris wheel in Singapore that was constructed between 2005 and 2008. Described by its operators as an observation wheel, it reaches 42 stories high, with a total height of 165 m (541 ft), making it the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. +Light Bandit , +Alex Ortega  and +Alessandro Cerè were our photographer's on the ground in Singapore showing us the Singapore Flyer.

Of all the videos about equipment that people make, not many actually talk about lighting
Yet it is really amazing what can be done to enhance a subject just by throwing different light sources around it.
Dedo Weigert is a master at producing lights, with movies like The Hobbit, Harry Potter and Star Wars all made using Dedo Lights.

Going underwater at Google I/O

We are excited to announce that the Project Director of the Catlin Seaview Survey Richard Vevers will be speaking at the influential Google I/O conference this month.

Richard's address will focus on the unique technology of the Catlin Seaview Survey. Specifically he will talk about the SVII camera which allows us to capture the engaging 360 degree underwater panoramas that can be viewed through the Google maps platform. He will also speak about how these images are being used to further ocean and climate science thinking and how developers can help the survey reach even more people.

Today we watched a Farrier hot shoe a horse as part of a competition.
This is a skill that is passed down and something that many people would not see except for special events like this show. There are several steps to making a horse-shoe which starts as a piece of flat steel bar and is moulded into shape to fit the horse's hoof. 
Quite a bit of detailed engineering.

Demonstration of yolking up a bullocky team.
A very traditional method of early heavy haulage in Australia that was replaced by motorized vehicles when they became available.
The bulls are able to pull logs in tight spots and inaccessible country. Most of the animals were part of a dairy herd who hauled logs when not milking. There are only two teams still in operation in Queensland.

Still half the walls to do with undercoat and the ceiling.
The original dark green means that I have to use a grey undercoat first, then go to the white that I want to use.

Take a look at the traffic at Withcott.
The waiting time is 2 hours, caused by breakdowns.
The alternative routes also have roadworks, making it nearly impossible to get up the range.
EDIT: The roadworks that are the cause of this queuing will be finished early next year
