With every big change, there are always some hiccups

I really like what Google did with the place, I really do. However, I find that the new font used, has some issues when it comes to posting in Greek and English. 

As you can see from the screenshot below, text in English appears to be more bold than the text in Greek. 

Although not a huge problem, by no means whatsoever, it does take something away from the polish of the G+ experience. 

I have already send feedback regarding this and I share this post, hoping that you will test it and report it as well.

Playing around with some RAW editing apps in my Linux Box. Here is my personal opinion, so far....

AfterShot Pro: The only commercial of the bunch. Hopes were high. Not impressed.

Raw Therapee: Could be great, if I could open my DNG files. Looks like the one to blame here is Adobe, from what I have been reading. Nice tools, not quite sure what everything does though. How many types of micro / local contrast does someone really need....? 

UFRaw: Sorry, I 'll pass...

Darktable: Great potential, really love some of the tools, don't care much for some others. Still a long way to go, but development is more than active. That said, I can't help it but feel a bit lost while using it. Needs more streamlined / easy to use interface, at least for me it does. Would love to have some video tutorials in English....

Well, instead of paying 20 dollars a month for Photoshop, why don't you donate 20 dollars once a year to +GIMP and help them bring to you more features, faster?

And you know, it would be like free, forever....


PS before starting your rant, this message is addressed towards all those people who actually can/are willing to, afford an option other than Photoshop.

Add Google Keep to Unity

This is seriously cool. It is my first actual interaction with a Google packaged app and I have to tell you it is awesome!

What it does, is that it allows you to run the Keep app from your desktop in a seamless and smooth way. Had I not done the installation myself (which took me about 3.5 seconds and was provocatively easy), I could swear this was a native system app!

Google Keep just became x1000 times more useful for me!

If you want to give it a try You absolutely, positively have to try this for yourself to see how simply, yet great, it works. This is an exciting glimpse of things to come ;)

Hi all. I am experiencing a weird issue with the search function of G+.

I have a friend in my circles who has an active G+ profile. The weird thing is that if I search for his name, all I get are his posts in the "Everything" category.

If I search for him as a "Person or Page" I get back a " Sorry, no results found".

I initially though it might have something to do with the fact that his name is spelled in Greek. However, that does not seem to be the case, as I can search for other people with Greek names just fine. 

Any idea what might be the cause of that search bug?

Χαρίζουμε έναν υπέροχο μικρό γατούλη μόλις 7 εβδομάδων παιχνιδιάρη και τρυφερούλη με πολύ καλούς τρόπους. Βρέθηκε παρατημένος και άρρωστος στη μέση μιας μεγάλης σκάλας όταν διένυε την τέταρτη εβδομάδα της ζωής του. Τον έχουμε μαζί μας από τότε και είναι πλέον ένα υγιέστατο πλασματάκι που δυστυχώς μάλλον έχει χάσει την όραση από το ένα μάτι παρ'ολες τις προσπάθειές μας. Χρησιμοποιεί την άμμο του, είναι θαρραλέος και του αρέσει να εξερευνά, είναι τρυφερός και προσεκτικός στο παιχνίδι τουδείχνοντας πολύ καλή συμπεριφορά (χωρίς να του λείπει η ενέργεια!). Δυστυχώς όσο και αν θέλουμε δεν μπορούμε να τον κρατήσουμε και εαν δεν βρεθεί μια οικογένεια θα γυρίσει στο δρόμο με ό,τι αυτό προϋποθέτει για έναν μικρό τύπο με όραση απο το ένα μόνο ματάκι.
Είμαστε πολύ νέοι σε αυτό και δεν ξέρουμε πού αλλού να απευθυνθούμε θα εκτιμούσαμε πολύ κάθε προσπάθεια προώθησης. Τον έχουμε αγαπήσει πολύ κ... more »

Google+ dominates poll despite stacked deck!

Lifehacker is running a poll, asking "What’s Your Social Network of Choice?"

But they give Facebook and Twitter an unfair advantage: At the bottom are "Like" buttons for Facebook and Twitter. They're giving a tool to virally promote the poll on two of the social networks, but not the others. As a result, Facebook and Twitter have WAY more votes than Linkedin, Pinterest, MySpace and Instagram.

But Google+ is dominating the poll anyway, with (at the time I write this) twice as many votes as Facebook.

That's not enough.

Since Lifehacker decided to favor Facebook and Twitter, let's send them some Google+ love in the form of MASSIVE votes for Google+:

Quick question 

I have a a few photos in Instant Upload. I want to share them all in one post and have them copied in an album which I use. 

I choose the pics, select copy to album, and share through the post window that pops up.

The problem is that if I go to the post, click the first photo and start scrolling using the arrows, it does not go the next photo of the bunch I just shared. Instead it goes to the second photo of the whole album, which is completely irrelevant with what I am sharing right now.... 

o.O

It is not a matter of organizing the album since the photos are properly placed in a time related series. Am I doing something wrong here?

[Update] Enable Automatic Location Sharing

Google+ now allows you to automatically share your location with those that you choose. The feature is very similar to the idea behind Google Latitude. However, now the sharing is integrated into the Google+ profile.
