Acoustic Levitation
Sound is emitted from a specialized speaker and meets the reflected sound wave from the top (or the same frequency wave emitted from a second speaker)
These waves have minimums and maximums (compression's and rarefaction's) which superimpose to give one combined wave called a standing wave.
Standing waves have nodes and anti nodes (positions of low and high amplitude) The water droplets will be forced by the sound wave to the place with the least pressure (the nodes).
At that point they will balance as the upwards force of the the sound wave colliding with the water molecules is enough to overcome the weight due to gravity and let it suspend in mid air.

Meh.  Not quite "legalization" but it is a step forward.  Don't you just love the "stoic" image of Greg Abbott as if the Governor of Texas had anything to do with it.

The office of Gov in Texas is one of the least powerful government positions anyone can hold - it was designed that way.

The good news about the Texas floods is that water levels on Lake Travis were at a 4 year low.  Now the lake seems to be returning to normal levels.  You can tell from the photos that many of the boat docks are still on dry land - but they are a lot closer to resuming a river/lake than they were 1 week ago.

This one made me laugh.  I'll save you the click.  82 year old man is upset because a 88 year old woman took his favorite seat at a bingo parlor so he slashes her tires.

The moral of this story is that there are cameras in parking lots.  And also that old people are still crazy.  crazy awesome

This is probably depressing to hear, but I'm pretty sure that ISIS = IRAQ.  Whatever threat IRAQ posed to the US in 2001 is multiplied by 10 fold and now we have armed militia "taking over towns".  Just a tip for all you news readers - you don't "take over towns" unless the town lets you do it.  Shades of Vietnam and the Korean War come to mind when it comes time to withdraw our troops. The situation is either just as bad or worse by the time we withdraw troops.  Shock and Awe is when American realize how much money and lives were wasted trying to control Iraq.

How can you sleep when you can't pull the teeth from your eyes?"

Over the last 20 years, the median weekly earnings of recent college graduates in the US has been known to drag slightly behind the overall trend.  Ever since the 2007 recession however, the slight drag has become a huge leak.  This is very bleak news if you plan on investing in American business or raising a family.

i have this notion that our society is going to be measured by history in terms of pre-internet and post-internet.  Similar to the way we see trains and cotton gins changing society's landscape in the 18th and 19th centuries, the introduction of "global internet communication" will also be a landmark when we teach future generations about the 21st century.  There is little comparison to the advancement in technology we've seen in the last few decades;  gas engines, electricity, rocket science are the closest comparisons.  Live it up people, we are experiencing history every day.

I agree with the quote to an extent.  The Plato democracy catch 22 involves a majority inevitably taking advantage of the minority.  Whether it be race, religion, or wealth.  If allowed to fester our own greed will ruin that which created the wealth in the first place.  I don't think comparing Plato  (400 BC) to 21 centuries later is giving credit to all the advances democracy has made in the last 2000 years.

On the other hand.  The internet has only been around for a few decades and it's already influenced a lot of change.  anyway, i like Plato and i found this quote interesting enough to share

This is going to be a very interesting election cycle in the US.  Technology is advancing faster than our slumbering political system is.  Population is growing faster than the representatives can gerrymander them out.

The idea that cable television is a source of "FACTUAL NEWS" was lost a long time ago.  Commercials lie to our face, they want you to buy their product so they hype it up, make it seem better than it really is.  SO YOU WILL BUY IT.  Problem with most media outlets - they use the same marketing formula that their advertisers use.  LIE to people, they'll keep coming back, and make a buck while you're at it.

I hope somebody from the younger generation steps up.  The American political process has turned into a competition between who can spend more money selling the same banana.  And a bunch of monkeys with smartphones.

It is amusing to watch Gretchen Carlson and Geraldo explaining to the Fox News audience that Stephanopoulos is biased towards one political party and should be punished for it.  ? :/

"In the winter of 1949, B.B. King played at a dance hall in Twist, Arkansas. In order to heat the hall, a barrel half-filled with kerosene was lit, a fairly common practice at the time. During the performance, two men began to fight, knocking over the burning barrel and sending burning fuel across the floor. The hall burst into flames, and the building was evacuated. Once outside, King realized that he had left his guitar inside so he went back into the burning building to retrieve his beloved $30 Gibson guitar. Two men died in the fire, and King learned the next day that they had been fighting over a woman named Lucille. King subsequently named that first guitar Lucille, as well as every guitar he has owned since, as a reminder never again to do something as stupid as run into a burning building or fight over women."  ~ http://bit.ly/1IC3G34

I will try and translate George Washington's farewell address quote from 1796 to 2015 relevance.

"Political parties may help win popular trends every once in awhile, but over time they are likely to become obsessed and corrupted by power instead of the will of the people.  Once in power these individuals will make sure they hold power by subversion of public opinion."  ~ translated by me, feel free to make your own translation

♫ My funny valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet you're my favorite work of art

Is your Figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little bit weak?
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But don't change your hair for me
Not if you really care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is Valentines day ♫

The oldest living WWII veteran, Richard Overton, turns 109 years old today.  A local legend in Austin TX and a symbolic national hero to all those who view that generation as one of the greatest, not only greatest in their actions but also the greatest burdens placed upon them.  I could go on about the "greatest generation" but i digress, let's talk about Sergeant Richard Overton.

At the age of 109 Richard plans to enjoy his birthday in what he describes as the familiar company of up to 12 cigars and some whiskey-stiffened coffee - simple luxuries for a man who's lived through a lot.

'I don’t know, some people might do something for me, but I’ll be glad just to sit down and rest,' World War II veteran Richard Arvine Overton told reporters from the Austin, Texas home he built after returning from active duty in 1945.

Remember the map you filled out with state quarters when they were released? Well, that's the idea behind these maps, only you're not using money, you're using the caps from beers you've consumed.
