Tesca is one of my closest friends. I met her at robotics competition four years ago. I had only started my early college program that year and she was already almost halfway through her undergrad. I was 15, she was 14. She recently turned 18, and I really want to celebrate her success. She has always supported me and has helped and inspired many students. She is now on the road to her Ph.D. at Georgia Tech and continues to do many awesome things with robots. You rock +Tesca Fitzgerald!

Look, I'm as happy as anyone else that Apple Pay is here. But when being compared to Google Wallet in security, I see two things that are constantly repeated in comments that I'd like to address.

1. Google Wallet store your actual card information on your device

No, your card information is not stored on the device. It goes into the servers. Which is as equally secure as putting your card information into iTunes. The only thing that is shown on your device is the last four digits.

2. Google Wallet transmits your card information when you tap

Again, completely false. What is sent over is a token, exactly like Apple Pay. All it does is authorize payment and Google's servers pick a virtual MasterCard number to use at the server end to charge. The virtual card that is used is changed regularly and completely random. Even if someone managed to get that... more »

Now with these out of the way, can we all just get along and pay happily with NFC? ___

I saw someone doing this in Sisters recently- a minivan covered completely in local ads.

Huge vinyl logos and special offers covered the back and sides of the car. It even had a triangular sign with three more companies on its top. I think overall the car was advertising for about 20 companies. I didn't think it was very effective. This is mainly because some of the companies were in competition and others had tiny logos dwarfed by huge descriptions and photos. The space was so crowded I didn't know what to look at. I wouldn't mind a logo or two, perhaps a small slogan, but the extreme of this idea is a headache for everyone watching.

That said, many companies do this on a smaller scale. One that I frequent offers a 15% discount for using their plate frame. Another I know has magnetic promotional material that can be applied to cars. I've always thought it was rather... more »

That said, many companies do this on a smaller scale. One that I frequent offers a 15% discount for using their plate frame. Another I know has magnetic promotional material that can be applied to cars. I've always thought it was rather silly when any company tried to sell its promotional material. Bumper stickers that promote a company or product should usually be free at the very least.

I have, however, often fantasized about having an electronic display on my car. Not only to customize my own bumper sticker, but to communicate with others on the road.___

I find +Google Maps's location history feature quite useful and fun to play with, but it's annoying how many glitchy data points it keeps which are obviously incorrect.
Here's what I mean: there may be dozens of samples in one particular location within a small time window having positional error less than 100 feet. It may also record several points in that same time frame, located miles away from the others with an enormous error margin of error. Obviously, I do not teleport myself  every time I turn on GPS.

The simple ability to hide or delete all points with high margin of error would be a big improvement to usability and aesthetics of the map.
