Help What do you think?
Should I turn him in to Google as a fake profile? Support him against the machine and keep his secret (Opps about this post)? Worry that by publicly posting about him his future is less certain?

Rape, violates choice and causes physical, psychological and societal damage

trigger warning While my stream is usually safe for work the topic of this post, Rape and sexual abuse (indeed all form of abuse are important to address) cannot be comfortable. This is a taboo topic as it is a manifest injustice that only together can we truly tackle, and tackle it we must.

In the context of yesterday having been World AIDS day I am reminded that so often this can be a legacy of rape. Where governments are not strong enough to exert and maintain authority, especially war zones, often sexual violence becomes widespread. The survivors getting their life back, the care of children born of rape and stopping it from happening again are all issue that needs to be addressed. Steampunk...are you doing it wrong?

Saw this video released yesterday on my stream on Facebook from +Lee Edward Armstrong and I loved it, do give it a watch if you know about (or are curious about) Steampunk.

While some may dismiss Steampunk as retro-Cybergoth rather than Victorian era Science Fiction. Certainly spraying 'tat' brown and attaching gears may or may not transform it. In my opinion art is in the eye of the beholder and to paraphrase William Morris you should own something if you find it beautiful or useful. If it does not hurt others then taste is a matter of individual discernment that others may or may not share, but being creative is generally a very good thing. So if inclined go create Steampunk it is what you make it....

Happy Birthday Sophie Lancaster, had you lived you would be 25 this weekend

Since Sophie Lancaster's death on August 24th 2007, following the horrific attack on her and her partner Rob in Stubbeylee Park, Bacup, Lancashire. Where Rob was left in a coma and Sophie was stamped upon and kicked to death, simply because they dressed differently. Sophie and Rob dressed in their unique way, expressing their individuality as creative artistic people. In 2008 during sentencing the perpetrators Judge Anthony Russell QC said: "This was a hate crime against these completely harmless people targeted because their appearance was different to yours."

I love to reflect and ask can I do a better thing?, The ethics of the committing a virtue, addressing people's misery, poverty and wellbeing. To paraphrase the words of a former local MP Mr Burke "All it takes for evil to triumph is good people to do nothing". Or as Desmond TuTu says “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. Following Klout's integration of Googleplus I find my score has raised by 10 points, when I worked hard I got a score in the 70s but is it really worth the effort?
I have a Proskore of over 60 but does it really matter?

Justice for all
The Leader of Southampton City Council was pulled over for not wearing his seat belt. He had no insurance so I hear his Jaguar was towed away, and he got points on his license as well as fines. It is good to know that justice applies to everyone including leaders of cities.

Are we paying enough of a price for Democracy?

We inherit and pass on The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and have in my opinion a duty to support and protect universal human rights, individual liberty, freedom of conscience, and pluralism of ideas within a framework of mutual respect tolerance and peace for our mutual benefit.

I seek to build broad coalitions with other people focusing on the protection of universal values and human rights through discourse, action, and leadership. The Mission UK's Wayne Hussey and All about Eve's Julianne Regan presents charity single "You'll never walk alone"

Meeting the Occupy Leeds folk

What's your take on the Occupy movement?

Interesting day attending the Occupy Leeds meeting and talking to some of the people who attended. It does not seem to be a puppet organisation nor a front which is a relief and does appear to have genuine positive values and a desire to change things for the better, how this will be worked out will be interesting to watch evolve but sharing food with the hungry reminds me of the early church somewhat. However best if you make your own mind up by checking them out yourselves...

What are your views on Action Learning?

What's your experience and subsequent take on Action learning?

I have piloted being involved in action learning group meetings (with Leeds MET and IoD) and I am reviewing this to see if I want to pay to continue. As part of the process I wanted to know what others experience of Action Learning are and how they have found it, certainly on a cost benefit analysis and opportunity cost basis...

The model works on sharing problems and thinking things through together to get a better solution framework and hopefully optimise your chance of success and your impact of success.

Would you recommend other activites to maintain professional competence and fast track personal development?
