lieMAX aka Fake IMAX Theaters

I was wondering why I was so underwhelmed by the IMAX theater at the Palms in Vegas last summer, turns out it's a lieMAX, that is, a watered-down version or retrofitted IMAX screen.

Here is a website that lists all of the theaters labeled IMAX around the world:

Once you've chosen your country, if you look at the Format column of the IMAX theater list, you will see one of the following keys: 1570, 1570/4K, 1570+DIG, 1070, 8/70, D

Long Weekend Skies

This was one of the most relaxing weekends I've had in a long time. It's rare that I feel pretty good the first morning back to work. It helped that yesterday (Monday) was a holiday ;D

I got to sleep in two days in a row with puppies, watched movies, smacked tennis balls, and played video games all day/night.

Sidenote: G+'s auto-enhance makes my pics look all cartoonish!

Hey, I've managed to do TEN of these over the past year! Not bad. Anyhooz, my last b00sic post was about 3 months ago so I figured it was time.

The first song is for +Suwan Phommachanh (no homo) since he's the one who shared the song. I actually haven't even heard the original yet since what he posted was a cover and I didn't even copy that one, but rather another cover in the related videos. I have yet to even listen to it in full O.o

Federer vs Nadal XXX

Wow, talk about an awkward title, but hey, when in Rome....

This wasn't supposed to happen anymore, their era was finally over, both men had dropped in the rankings (Federer to No. 3 and Nadal to No. 5), but for the 30th time in their careers, they will square off against each other, and in yet another Championship match.

While they are no longer the Nos. 1 and 2 players in the world, they are still the masters of their craft. And believe it or not, they may be on the path to reascending and reclaiming their rightful places at the very top of the game against their younger rivals.

Their years and current career paths at the moment could not be more different, however.

Europa Report Trailer

This looks really interesting! Hopefully it doesn't turn into a typical slasher/horror movie which it probably will....

For the uninitiated, Europa is one of Jupiter's moons and is considered a potential harborer of life due the presence of a subsurface ocean, a water world, if you will.

New Google+ Look

Now that I've had a day to acclimate to the #NewLook , here are some of my random thoughts.

The only thing I'm not digging right now are all the constant menu popups/drop downs. Those are giving me a headache since they accidentally creep up all the time, interrupting my experience.

Some examples are: 

[The Left Menu Ribbon] My mouse accidentally wanders over there all the time and I literally have to move it out of the way to see content which it's suddenly blocking.

[Contact Cards] These attractive cards never used to bother me, but the same issue arises when the right Hangouts tab is open, my mouse accidentally hovers over a contact and a gigantic card blocks something I was reading. Not a problem, I just minimize Hangouts and ignore that feature altogether.

My Mom Back In Ancient Times

These photos were taken pre-1970 during war-torn Vietnam.

My mom (and dad) were among the boat people who escaped their homeland, part of the Great Exodus in the mid to late 1970s. They arrived in Canada over 30 years ago and eventually a little snot like me came along to cause them more grief ^_^

Gravity Teaser Trailer

Interesting....

With all the blockbusters being released one after the other this summer, this one seems to have slipped under the radar.

Let's just hope it doesn't suck donkeyballs like George Clooney's last sci-fi flick, Solaris. Sandra Bullock's presence gives me hope, but it's not like she hasn't had her fair share of bombs in the past.

Rocky Mountain Zoe

So I've been playing around with the HTC One since last night and aside from all the kickass hardware specs, which pretty much blows away every other phone on the market, I was pleasantly surprised by how simple and effective making a Zoe was.

I tried snapping sample images around me which turned out pretty, but were very uninteresting, so I decided to put together some photos/video I took a couple of years ago during a camping trip in the Rocky Mountains.

Vietnam Postage

So my oldest brother just received a package in the mail from home and as you can see, the postage was a little extreme.

Due to the abundance of stamps, they weren't even attached to the outside, but instead folded up and bundled on the inside.

Who wants to guess how much postage this was? In VND (Vietnamese Dong) or USD/CDN currency....

2013: Let The Tennis Begin!

Had a hit today with my longtime hitting and dubs partner. This is our first time making a video together in over THREE years! We used to make videos like this all the time to track our progress, it's a very good learning tool. In fact, that was primarily what my YouTube account was about when I had first made it, chronicling my tennis journey.

Anyway, neither of us was at his best, but it's still pretty indicative of where we're at. I think not being in front of the camera for so long, we were both a bit nervous and didn't  hit as well as we normally do. That will change as we continue to film our hits.

Outdoor tennis season is just around the corner!

Here are the many faces of Schala, my second youngest.

Most All of my dogs (and I believe every dog owner can attest to this) are pretty well-behaved when supervised, but once you leave the room, they're BIG trouble! That's Schala in a nutshell.

Biologically, her partner in crime baby sister, Valentine: http://goo.gl/hNpqc is her twin even though they look nothing alike, but growing up, it was her older sister, Kid: http://goo.gl/rP0Cn whom we considered her to be a clone of.

I love how Paul seamlessly transitions from one topic to the next while providing logical support despite it all being pure, but well-educated speculation. His thought experiments are highly rational and provoking.

It was really fun to read and I hope more and more people gravitate towards this way of thinking, it's really the only way we can (somewhat) experience the potential future and thought processes of those other than ourselves without actually being there (yet).

Location: College Drive East & McOrmond Road Intersection in Saskatoon

With spring finally here, I managed to find a photo from two years ago when the season had come in a more timely (and violent) fashion.

This year, the melt has been slow and our city workers have done a fantastic job of reallocating snow banks and taking various other precautionary measures to avoid the same problems we had before.

P.S. I promised to find this picture of the flooded roads we experienced a couple of years ago for Natalija Horvat, but now she's gone :'(

Crackling Log Fire

Comes with bonus mountain breeze and the sound of leaves blowing in the wind....

This footage was taken on September 10, 2011 during a camping trip up in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It was pitch black all around except for this lone fire and the night sky.

I fell asleep in front of the fireplace tonight and so was reminded of this.
