Went shooting the other morning up to Spray Lakes hoping to catch the sunrise and mountains reflected in the water. Due to the wind I didn't get anything worth while but on my way back to Canmore, this fella was sunning himself on the side of the rode. Just standing there, minding his own business, enjoying the morning sun. First wild goat I've come across that had a smile:)

HDR sometimes means, to me, getting more detail out of a shot. This was taken at a local bistro for a food and wine pairing event.

This was at the end of a great food and wine pairing for a conference we were taking shots for. Fortunately, for +Lisa Wong and myself, we were able to take pictures and sample the pairings.
Being a dessert person, which means I believe meals should start and end with dessert:), these two pairings were heaven in your mouth good.

I know that some of us have negative view of HDR and I have to admit when it is done badly, I understand where the negative comes from.

I shoot HDR quite a lot, I do so to bring out the dynamic range of a scene and as much as possible try (in post process) to make it look natural. But, there are some shots, I think, look better when the post processing is taken out of the "natural" relm.

So, if you consider this post a bad HDR, please excuse the pic:) It is not meant to offend.

This was my first HDR photo shot from the top of a parking lot facing out towards the Victoria Harbour. I was hooked from that moment on.

For +Tim Folkins and +Lawrence Sauter I hope this brings back some more memories of your home town.

"Alleyway" was taken in Victoria, BC a couple of years ago when I lived there.
I am always watching for places to shoot and this alleyway was one of them.
What I liked about this particular spot was the old building facing the new.
The colour shot is ok but the B&W just seems to add a bit more to the photo. Hope your all having a great weekend:)

Paying more attention to how shapes, lines and textures play into my photo taking. Making this effort to bring something 'more' to my pics.
I was attracted to the texture and shape of the ice around the rock of this one.

Do you sell your photos on line?
If you do, how is the printing and delivery handled?
Who do you use?

I ask these ?'s because I am looking at starting a website with a print buying aspect to it. Thanks for your response.

An Age Gone Bye - When I was working for Banff Photography, we had these weekly Photo Walk Abouts. One week we did a walk about around the town of Banff. Along the Bow River I knew there was a canoe rental place and looked forward to see what photos might be taken of the canoes, river etc.
What I didn't know was they rented these old style bikes and gave them names of different musicians and bands. I loved it. This was the photograph I liked the most from the whole walk about.

Ok! Maybe I'm wrong on this. But when did it become punctually correct to put a comma before the word "and" in a sentence.
I just finished proofing a multi page conference brochure and I could not believe how many times I saw this.
I did mark-up to take out the comma but after seeing it so many times I began to wonder, "Has this changed and it is now ok/correct to do this?"
Anyone have any ideas?

When you get the chance please sit down for 15 min and enjoy this award winning video. +Paul Zizka  and +Doug Urquhart put this together. It really is something to see the talent and vision these two have.
Mountains in Motion: The Canadian Rockies is an experimental short documenting the life of the alpine landscape through time-lapse photography. In an effort to highlight the wildness of these mountain places and how they have inspired explorers of the past, present and future, sequences were painstakingly gathered from exposed summits; by glacial lakes; and under aurora-filled skies.

"Peggy's Cove Winter Sunset". I was out last Saturday to Peggy's Cove hoping for a sunset. It was calm and low tide so I was able to get down closer to the edge safely to get this image. The position of the sun as the days gets longer will continually move to the right so this shot can only be taken in Dec and Jan in order to fit it all in the frame. I was rewarded with a great foreground reflection. With the lighthouse at the left of the frame it's suffering from the curve of the lens. This is a manual blend of 3 exposures with a bit of added saturation. #landscapephotography

Every week or so at Banff Photography, we hold a "Phocial"(Think photography-social)
It's a gathering of staff and interested local photographers who want to get together and just go shoot. Each time we go out, we choose a different area of the park to explore.
Several weeks ago it was decided to stay in town and wonder around to see what we could find. Here is one of the shots I took that night.
Loved that these old bikes had license plate names to match their style.

Hello everyone - hope this Monday is finding you well! Your response to Issue #1 of Exposed absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way, and with that in mind, we've taken a little extra time to be sure to bring you the best possible magazine we can. We've made a few changes here and there since the first issue - you can read more about those in the editor's column this month - but the most notable change is a simple one that we think you'll be most excited about:

For the couple of weeks I may not be on G+ as often and if you'll bear with me, here is why.

Life in Motion

Sometimes the universe reaches out and takes you where you least expect it.

Over the past few months my wife and I have been debating about moving. The debate has been not so much as why but where.

The why was fairly easy to answer. Both of us felt it was time. Nuff said.

The where was not an easy answer. So, after several discussions we settled on going back to Calgary, AB. Reasons? Family, friends and having moved from there 2 1/2 years ago we knew what we were in for moving back to a larger city.

This is where the universe reached out and said, "Hmmm, I don't think so."

We both have to work and that is just a fact of life. So, one day while I was going through on-line job postings I noticed one from Banff... more »
