My co-workers clearly trust me, that's really nice thing! Now I must start gather info about my newly found position and learn some new stuff.

Had holiday in Tallinn
This year we went into family trip into Estonia, Tallinn to be precise. Tallinn is regarded by most Finns as place to get cheap booze and nothing more. We went to get to know thew city bit better than that.
Our trip had rather stressful start. I reserved two hours and forty minutes for drive, getting our reserved tickets and boarding the ferry. That was insanely close call that we didn't miss the boat! We were stuck at Helsinki's morning traffic and arrived to parking lot just 10 minutes before boarding ended. Nearest ticket machine didn't work and second was occupied by elderly couple. Luckily there was parking attendant standing nearby and he took our car registration number and wished good trip. We saved over 60€ because I was in insane hurry! We just got past security gates, when announcement was made that security points were closed and a... more »

Went yesterday to Särkänniemi amusement park.
Went into family trip arranged by our local engineering chapter. This year's destination was Särkänniemi amusement park in Tampere.
While I'm not that ride-oriented person, I still got my day access pass to all rides and exhibitions that I used to enter different locations. No rides, but I went to see Finland's only dolphin show and entered just opened (same day) Koiramäki (Doghill) story village, where of Finland's most known stories came to life.
Visited also in Näsinneula to take a look around, still pretty amazing sight from 124 metres (407 ft).
And no, I didn't go into Angry Birds Land... That place was crowded with small children, I couldn't fit in...:D

Hey +Google+ (or anyone else who knows)!
Can someone explain why I just can't see "new" posts anymore... Every time I press that 'new' -button, all posts are re-loaded and mostly older posts are bumped on top. There's nothing wrong in them, I've already read them 2-5 hours earlier and enjoyed them... But showing same posts even 5 times is bit annoying.
Luckily there's some newer posts among all those older ones too.
Please bring back the older automatically updated stream! Please?
+Jaana Nyström +Natalie Villalobos +Google+ Helper Have you any ideas?

Trying out new lenses for camera...
Got two new lenses for my camera to replace kit lenses I got with it. I've long wanted to start "more serious" photographing, maybe these will get me going?
Those kit lenses were decent enough and were (and probably still are) just perfect for my skills, but I wanted little bit better. I got one Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM for "all-around lens" and one Tamron AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro for getting objects further away. Those are really nice budget lenses and I got that Sigma really cheap (99€)! Got couple filters too for them, just for trying out... And for those curious enough, my camera is Pentax K-x.

Summer's first carpet washing session
We went to wash few of our carpets into communal washing place next to river. Lots of scrubbing and soap and roughly one hour of tedious work, we have now four really clean carpets. It's rather nice task, I'm actually waiting for the next session. ;)

Filled mushrooms
How to make those insanely delicious mushrooms, that are filled with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and seasoned with spices...
This time I used pineapple -flavored cheese, that gave really nice touch to these mushrooms. Fruity, but still cheesy (hehe) taste. I also wanted some extra punch into some of those, so I added Fatalii's Smoky Magic -chilipowder, that is just heavenly.

Maple that just won't die
Every year I've cut this maple back to a stump with no branches to stop shadowing our garden and sucking all valuable water from other plants. Still it grows lots of new branches and leaves during the whole summer. Stubborn one!

Construction time 30-45 minutes...
...bollocks! I spent nearly 3 hours putting that devil's machinery into one piece! My wife bought this contraption and I had to figure out how to get working exercising device out of it. Instructions were just bunch of pictures with some guessing left to builder and some parts weren't just made fit together.
Despite that it's now fully working crosstrainer (that is missing three screws, but they don't matter).

Good article (just quick scratch like all articles usually tend to be) about passwords, hashes and security.

Just watched Neverwas.
Story about psychiatrist who want to find more about his father and returns to his old neighbourhood. There he finds one mental patient who claims to be a king in book that psychiatrist father wrote.
Nice story, good acting (especially Ian McKellen) and good setting. Couple things that could be seen beforehand, but they didn't hinder the experience. Nice adult "fairytale".

Watched last night The Oxford murders.
Seemingly good plot about murders happening in Oxford. Professor and student are examining logical series that seem to intertwine into murders.
Pretty good acting, story flows and has even some twists in it. Ending was rather good, but was maybe bit too long. Decent thriller, but nothing extraordinary.

Also watched 2001 Maniacs last night.
Quite typical gore/teen shock movie, with all ordinary cliches out there.
A village of southern people who will think that 'South will rise again' and hate all yanks get eight teens heading for holiday as their guests. Eventually true side of things is revealed to the teens and they are going to survive from village people.
Ok acting, good plot, but feeling that all this is seen before. Still recommended for all horror movie fans. Some gore and nudity.

Watched last night The Dead girl.
Movie that tried to work on five different levels and failed... All these short stories how they try to connect to the dead girl feel somewhat loose and hollow. While acting was decent, story didn't flow here... Can't recommend.

Finished last evening last season (6) of Pasila.
Maybe one of the best Finnish animations, where audience is following the happenings of Pasila police precinct. Main character Kyösti Pöysti is pacifier-sucking, cynical and against all stupidity.
Have to admit that the last season was really great. I loved first two seasons, but series went somewhat downhill after those. This was good ending for whole series.
Shared link to english-spoken version, where Pöysti is renamed Anderson...

Just got my invitation to new Google maps!
Have to say that it looks great and there's nice and snappy search tool for finding stuff from different locations. And that 3D-map gives some perspective...;) Navigation feels far better than before too! This map-freak is probably spending the rest of the day examining new stuff...
I would have added screenshot about it, but G+ doesn't accept my uploads right now?

I'm No Longer Female aka How To Make What's Hot More Interesting Sans Banal Platitudes
A few weeks ago, two posters highlighted a very bizarre finding on Google Plus. That your profile's gender specification (Male, Female, Other) influenced the content you saw in the former Explore and What's Hot tabs respectively.
Google's Chief Architect offered feedback that the Explore tab was using an older, more gender sensitive algorithm, however the What's Hot tab had been modernised, with gender as a factor, but not a big one. If anyone wants to know, what you see in What's Hot is supposed to take into account "properties inherent to the post and the viewer, which includes profile information," he said. A subsequent update mentioned that the algorithm had since been updated and all should be well in Feministaland. I decided to test ... more »

Made some chicken tonight...
First I put all chicken pieces evenly on pan. After that I covered them with blue cheese, crushed lime-seasoned cashews and finally bbq sauce. Put them into oven for half an hour and got really delicious dish. Enjoyed them with white wine. Not bad experiment!

Why I can't see new posts?
After hitting that 'new' -button, my canal flowed posts into next lock (see my earlier post: https://plus.google.com/117166962835543791045/posts/R1KENdjsGEn) but I saw only roughly 10 new posts... Others were old posts that I had read earlier. So where those 290 posts went?
Unless I keep clicking that 'new' -button continuously, I'll miss most of new posts, because all posts are re-load and popular old posts are offered again.
Is anyone else having this problem? +Google+ Helper

Google+ doesn't have stream anymore, but canal with locks
I just realized that stream is something that moves on continuously and this "stream" here has stagnated into canal with locks. Every time you push that 'new' -button, you open a lock and let posts flow into next lock.

For more than two years, the #Linux operating system has contained a high-severity vulnerability that gives untrusted users with restricted accounts nearly unfettered "root" access over machines, including servers running in shared Web hosting facilities and other sensitive environments. Surprisingly, most users remain wide open even now, more than a month after maintainers of the open-source OS quietly released an update that patched the gaping hole.

It's the only thing I'm asking... Everything else I can cope with. And yes, this looks good, only functionality has suffered.

Stream layout with posts queued (like it used to be) causes huge whitespace in astronomical scale to appear... Me no like!
Otherwise this seems snappy and working solution.
