Interesting: SAP is hiring people with autism for software development, because they "think differently." .

They bloom and then they go. So beautiful all the same. I love spring. The green comes back to the trees. Rainstorms abound and take turns with hot days. Birdsong everywhere.

Here's a hoax, folks. I'm relaxing, right?
I changed clothes after taking my youngest son to his doctor's appointment. I ran outside on a break - still working from home. Snapped photos. Downloaded. Raced back inside to provide snacks and answer emails. Total time? 5 minutes. Net envy? 7 minutes. Minus 30 seconds for the tropical photo notification.
Yes, I enhance the contrast of my freckliness with sandals. Why do you ask?

My heart goes out to folks in Oklahoma City with the unfortunate and sudden tornadoes. And for that matter, all the other places around the world where there has been sudden and terrible loss of life, limb and land-based or sea-based structures.

Final two from the album. Of course, all the really intricate stuff in the one on the left is lost. Heh. Well, that's all for a while. Thanks for viewing, plussing and commenting. I hope you enjoyed some of these. (The full album is Spicy Doodles in my Photos.)

Fascinating stuff. The idea that the laws of physics have evolved over "time" is fascinating.

Halloween a little early this year? Haven't added to my silly faces album in quite a while...

Fate Accelerated and Fate Core Electronic are really, really well done. I love it. Now I will keep dreaming about finding time to run some games with this.

111:28 minutes of running today. With five minutes of walking there. I allow myself to take breaks when it's not a race. :D

Ah. The new Album method is slightly less convenient, however you can still share new stuff added to an old album. Today's two doodles feature some jokes. I hope you like them!

Is anyone using iTunes Match? How is it? I just finally joined the 21st Century and got an iPhone. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

It's the end of a long week. At least I'm (figuratively) putting my feet up and charging my new phone. Small rewards and creature comforts for the win!

Thanks to my daughter's extensive rehearsal and audition schedule this week, I had weird chunks of time where I had to get her, then kill some time. So I read a book. I should have been writing. I was really tired though. I needed something to restore myself a bit. It helped. Here's a brief review.
Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, by Robin Sloan is cool. I liked it. It was a relatively fast read - good for someone like me who had 30 minutes here and 40 minutes there to try to get through it. There were interesting characters with a plot that was far superior to that of, say Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum, which to this day I can only remember one scene from. It was fun: a bookstore, a bright young man, Google itself, a secret society, fantasy RPG references and more. What's not to like? It also had a mystery that was quite well done. I like the solution a lot.... more »

I can't decide if this is better than Calliope trying the get into my lap and shove the laptop out of it. Jealous thing. Or maybe she just loves the company. Aka her Human Claw Sharpening Device.

Hello folks. Here's a fun puzzle doodle. What shapes, objects and symbols can you find inside this simulated garden path?

Tomorrow I may have another one for you - with hidden objects. If not, later in the week. This one was inspired by a glass of Elliot Ness from Great Lakes Brewing and the exterior of dozens of awesome buildings in Chicago. In fact, I drew it in The Exchequer, a really pleasant place that had been there since before I was born.

Runner's high comes now at Mile Eight;
Why are you so very late?
Our well-nigh smile time was Mile Three,
Or so it often seemed to me.
After footslapped pavement hours, we made it Mile Four,
Then Five, oh Six, and where was even Seven's door?
Still I quaff endorphin's bait,
It's either that or hurry up and wait!

This was the other one that Google chose to log me out from as I was posting it. Huh. This was inspired by native American art at the Field Museum.

And that was odd. Google chose to log me out tonight in the midst of posting this and one other. Hm.

12:36 miles this morning at an 8:36 pace. Not bad considering there were a couple minutes of water and gel break in there and it was on hills.

The left one was literally inspired by sails. It would never work on a real boat - however an imaginary one? Just fine. I like the symmetry of the one on the right. Then I found myself wishing (momentarily) for a larger, square notebook.

Ho ho! Two more. The left one never quite resembled the image in my head - this happens all the time - and the right one was about 14 pen strokes. Still amusing to see what comes out. I thank you for stopping to take the time and view.

Hartford area graffiti. It looks like a tree - but it isn't. I also like the face in that word - which I can't quite make out.

Alright. Lest one birthday (or two) be considered enough, I need to shout out to none other than +Robert Emerson ! At least, if today really is your birthday. :p He's not a crow sitting atop a pole, or a shadowy figure watching over you. But he's cool. And he's a solid guy, the one you wished you lived closer to so you could hang out more. Happy birthday Robert!

Let's have a drumroll please! It's +Gene Bowker 's birthday! (What a great day he picked.) Happy Birthday Gene! You're a gentleman and a photographer worth circling and staying with. I hope there was one awesome moment today for you. From Halloweentown to Christmastown to just being everywhere - it seems - you give out a lot to folks. Thanks!
And technically, yes, +lane langmade should get all the credit for helping the memory impaired remember to say something.

Oh shit I needed a laugh tonight! You will miss all the best parts if you don't watch the whole thing. Oh hey, there may be a branded vehicle in there but so what. This is genius.

I'm really happy with this trio. The idea came to me. Bam. I drew it out. It looked a lot like what I had in mind! This is huge in my world, where execution of concept leads to sometimes radically different results. I like them. They feel like Dr. Strange's television sets. And Dormammu forgot the popcorn again, but hey, he showed up, right?

First time I've ever seen ants building a ramp. Oh, and PS, my Mac cycled back around? Apparently I can only have photos from 0001 to 9999?? Well, the ants were really neat.

In 1973, a Precursor To The Internet Was Born In Chile. Unfortunately, the CIA Saw Fit To Undermine and Overthrow It
I never knew the entire story behind Cybersyn, the Chilean coup of 1973, and Pinochet's rise to power. Wow. Someone should turn this into a movie.
